I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were ...

A place to be seen, not to have dinner 8/27/2002

There are too many good places to enjoy dinner at Seattle to waste your time at Flying Fish. The servings were very small and overpriced, reminiscent of the nouveau cuisine (aka ripoff) of the '80s. Less is not more in this case because there was nothing exceptional about the food. The service was also very brusque, verging on rude - one of the very few times that has ever happened to us. If you are in the Belltown area and are near Flying Fish, I would recommend that you keep on walking to Marco's or the Belltown Pizzeria if what you want is a good meal without the attitude... Pros: Nice Patio Cons: Attitude, Price, Small servings more

The Seafood Place to Be 8/15/2002

Expensive but great. I spent over $100 on two people. Still I rank this the best seafood restaurant in town, having been to Ray's, Salty's, Third Floor, Ponti and others. I really like Elliot's Oyster House, Dragonfish and (the appearantly no-longer appreciated) Cutter's as well, in about that order (mostly refering to the food, btw). The Flying Fish is a very nice space and there is a "scene." It seems all the people are pretty and rich. We got a table up on the balcony area which made the dinner very romantic. Not to forget the food, which was superb. Pros: Superb Food, Superb Presentation, Hip Spot Cons: Belltown Parking, Busy / Crowded, You don't like "hip" more

Great spot 8/8/2002

Our evening with friends turned out to be a culinary delight. The apps were great, the main courses beautiful in presentation, and our server was as good as anyone in the city. The place can be a little too noisy, but for a fun night out, it works. Pros: service Cons: noisy more
