Great restaurant. Terrific service. Extraordinarily tasty fish. Delectable huckleberry caramelized creme brulee and fudge brownies to die for. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: n...

I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were ...

Snobbish service, average food 8/22/2006

Maybe the editorial staff was outed prior to their visit or maybe we didn't look trendy enough, but I have been to this restaurant twice had had poor service both times. I like to give a restaurant with such good buzz a second chance if I have had a bad experience. Sometimes bad service is a fluke. In this case the servers were snobbish and inattentive both times and the food was certainly not enough to make up for it. Pros: None. Cons: Servers acted like they were doing us a favor by taking our order. more

It's okay, nothing much to write home about 3/19/2006

My husband and I just celebrated our 1st anniversary in Seattle; he picked Flying Fish for one of our nights out. He booked through Open Table, told them it was our anniversary. The hostesses were kind and mentioned it. Our waiter never did nor was he all that friendly. He wasn't bad just odd. We weren't looking for special treatment, but in the past, good places did a little something like a message in chocolate on our dessert plate. Nothing. Our food was good. Lovely design, tasted fresh and layered. My cocktail was a bit too sour. When they say it's warm; it's HOT. I'm hardly hot, but I wore layers preparing for the change in temp. I was so hot, I had to run to the restroom to take off a layer and was still warm. Overall, it's an efficient kitchen, nice dinner. It just wasn't that special. Pros: Plating, Texture of taste Cons: Hot, Waitstaff is mixed more

Wonderful time 1/25/2006

Brought my sister and her boyfriend to dinner while they were visiting from out of town. Everything about the experience was wonderful. From the appetizers down to the dessert (mmm Warm Grappa Brownie....), it was all awesome! Our server was friendly and knowledgable. He helped to guide us through the expansive Wine List and some unknown culinary waters. Made the whole thing easy so we could concentrate on having a good time. Warm colors, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The booths behind the host stand are soooo comfortable. My sister reallt liked the Fish Tacos. You've gotta try the Ahi Tuna Poke and the Dungeness Crab. Overall, a wonderful time. Would recommend the Flying Fish to locals and out of towners alike. Will definitely be back. Pros: food, friendly staff, location more

Certainly not bad, but would not go back again 11/25/2005

This much-touted Beltown staple came highly recommended, so perhaps our expectations were too high. Nicely decorated with good ambiance, incl. nice bar and upstairs seating overlooking main dining room. The service was sluggish, our waitress was noticably impatient, and she made mistakes both describing the dishes as well as serving us soy sauce instead of salad dressing. The food was good, though not exceptional. Plenty of other places to find seafood in Seattle- would say to try elsewhere first. Pros: ambiance, wine list Cons: poor service more

Unsatisfactory everything. READ THIS 11/24/2005

Seated promptly for lunch on my birthday. No introduction from our classless waitress. First water had flakes in it, second glass had lipstick. Ordering was uneventful. Apps came, (calamari and smoked salmon) both were tasty. Oysters came with no presentation, and were ""unsatisfactory"" (details omitted due to cityseach posting policy). Neither apology or compensation offered. Terrible service, oblivious staff, positively awful experience. Entrees (Mahi Mahi and Stir Fry) were very unsatisfactory. Will not return. Ever. Pros: None for me. Cons: Service, Food, Worms more
