Great restaurant. Terrific service. Extraordinarily tasty fish. Delectable huckleberry caramelized creme brulee and fudge brownies to die for. Pros: Wonderful food Cons: n...

I had high expectations when sitting down at the nicely appointed Flying Fish. The food was exciting to look at but bland tasting. The drinks and oysters on the half shell were ...

Consistantly great food. 11/18/2003

We've gone there sporadically a couple times this year (including New Year's eve last year) and the service and food has always been great. I don't find the food to be overspiced- and the tuna poke (contrary to what the previous poster said) is actually lightly flavored with sesame oil... not overpowering and very fresh. The staff has been knowledgable and friendly... It's hard to find a place this consistant. Pros: Great food, Great service, Good wine list Cons: Reserve in advance, A bit loud downstairs more

Dinner at Flying Fish 11/10/2003

The scene was hopping and I liked the mix of ages. But for me the food could have been better. Two starters, the tuna poke (which I could only eat two bites) and endive salad were just passable. My entre of sole was good with and excellent side of squash, but was too heavy for me to finish which is not my norm. My husbands swordfish was just okay. I really want to like this restaurant and all the great press it gets, but it never lives up to its reputation in my eyes. Pros: the scene, age mixture Cons: the wait, hit or miss food more

noisy but worth it 7/24/2003

Fabulous fish. Simply good, fresh starting ingredients with little overuse of showy sauces or techniques make this spot consistantly good. The boxed shape of the dining space, flat walls, and street-open front make the noise level irritating but if you go earlier before much of a crowd you can actually hear your conversation. Pros: consistant quality, simple flavors, downtown location Cons: wait lines, noise more

Top three in Seattle 3/3/2003

I don't know about the bad ratings, but this is one of my top places to eat in Seattle. I love seafood, and the fish is never a disappointment here. The salads and wine menu are equally excellent. It's a great place to come with friends, but I recommend a reservation. It is a popular place! Pros: Great food, Great ambiance, Great service Cons: Wait to be seated, still waiting..., still waiting... more

Good but not exceptional 2/1/2003

The Flying fish is a lively restaurant that consistently serves up good but not exceptional sea food. I've tried many of the other Seattle seafood restaurants and flying fish is better than many - although often the best seafood in Seattle is found in non seafood restaurants. The portions are small (although the platters are good for sharing) and the scene is very much a 'hip' belltown scene with service attitude etc that go with it. The prices are relatively high and food or atmosphere don't come close to Vancouver seafood notables such as the 'C' (although nothing else I've tried in Seattle does) Pros: good food, late night, lively atmosphere Cons: portions, good not superb food more

WOW 1/26/2003

We went to the Flying Fish restaurant for my mother's birthday. Let me tell you it was quite the delightful experience for all of us. My mother was really impressed. The staff there took very good care of us. We were given a whole fried rockfish as a complimentary dish from the chef. Wow! It was great. The ambiance was great, as well as all the food. This was a dinner we will never forget. . more
