Finishing Touch Spa

I just went here last week for a Brazilian wax. I was very disappointed with the results! The girl who I went to see used strip wax which was remarkably painful (I've been getting Brazilians for years and most definitely have a tolerance for pain). Strip wax is useful for places like your legs because it is quicker and covers a larger area, but I was shocked when she used this on such a sensitive area. Their website reassures the customer that they use the appropriate wax for sensitive areas - if this was the case the woman would most definitely have used hard wax like any other nice salon I have been to. On top of the painful experience I had to come home and pluck because she did not do a thorough job. I also was not pleased with the customer service, particularly when I called to double check the time of my appointment and they took a long time trying to figure out if I had really been booked! Also the customer service has never been particularly friendly and the appointments are nearly always about 10-15 minutes after the time that they were scheduled. I would check out reviews on other places before scheduling an appointment here. more

I wish I had read the 9/28 review before coming here. I decided to buy the groupon deal and figured the place must be good if it is in boulder, big mistake. I also was not greeted very warmly but didn't mind so long as I received a nice haircut. I told the woman who was cutting my hair that I just wanted "a trim" and we agreed to take 2 inches off. She took double if not triple that amount off, I have before and after pictures to prove it. Not only was cut way shorter than I had expected but all layers look ridiculous. I have never had such a bad haircut in my life. I think what irks me the most is that I believe she did this intentionally because I told her that my husband did not like short hair on me and since she had short hair I must have offended her. When I told her at the end that this haircut was shorter than we had discussed she told me that she thought it looked good. When I told my daughter that daddy is not going to like my hair she responded that "I am sure he didn't marry you for your hair!" Oh and one comment was "men just like long hair on woman because it makes them feel younger" She blatantly cut my hair short going against my wishes for her own personal reasons. I am so appalled and would NEVER, EVER recommend this place to anyone not even for your dog. The point of Groupons as a company is to show people how great your business is so that they will try it on a Groupon and then come back and refer people to you, this place obviously does not get that. more

Hello, I wanted to share the recent experience that I had at Finishing Touch Spa. When I saw that there was a Groupon I decided to call and see if they had any weekend openings and made a reservation. I told the lady on the phone that I had purchased the Groupon deal and her attitude towards me became almost immediately impatient when collecting my contact information. Since I live in Fort Collins and I had bought this Groupon for Boulder (1 hr drive), my mom and I decided to make it a shopping day in Boulder. I was dropped off at Finishing Touch at 2:20 PM for a 2:30 appointment with Tanya (or Tonya?), while my mom went and did some shopping. When I checked in the people were not too friendly and greeted me with “Ohhh you have that Groupon…right…” The receptionist informed me that Tanya was running late and that she would not be available until 2:45 and suggested that I get some ice cream next door! I waited and at 2:50 PM was informed that Tanya had “overbooked” and would not be available until 4:30 PM or that I could have another lady at 4:00PM. They were not apologetic and frankly quite apathetic to the situation. I had to wait until my mom picked me up to pass the time that I had to wait. When I returned for my 4PM appointment I ended up waiting until 4:15. During that time I overheard an employee answer the phone greeting a customer with enthusiasm and displaying a huge change in demeanor when the person on the other end of the line obviously mentioned that they had a Groupon. When the employee got off the phone she commented “Uh it was another Groupon.” When I was finally seen by the beautician, she was okay but seemed to rush through the cut and the process. At the end I asked to talk to the manager, who they said was not there, which I later found out that that was not the case. My intention in talking to the manager was to explain that I was deeply disappointed with the way that I had been treated and suggest that they make some changes for the other Groupon customers (I went in the day after the Groupon went on sale) if they wanted to have return guests. I was not treated with kindness the entire time that I was there and felt as though I was an annoyance if anything! The day that my mom and I had planned was ruined due to waiting 3 hours for an appointment that was supposed to take on hour to be over with, lied to, and experienced the worst customer service I have had in my life! It was not like I was having an attitude or anything…. I didn’t even say anything until the end, other then when they pushed my app back I stated "it is unfair that the company charges customers for cancelling their appointments or being too late, yet they don't show the same respect." I also offered the suggestion that they call customers ahead of time if their appointment is running late, especially two hours! I will not be surprised if you get similar feedback from other customers that purchased this Groupon due to my entire experience and the attitude towards the customer on the phone! I will never do business with this company again! DO NOT GO THERE!!!!! I rate this salon WORST in Boulder! more

I haven't been here but anyone else feel that a lot of the good reviews are fishy! I almost always go online and read reviews before I purchase something or go somewhere that I'm unfamiliar and I have to say a lot of the 5 star reviews have this same theme to them like they've been written by the same person. Usually reviews actually have content that gives you an idea of what the place is like and instead of doing that a lot of the reviews are like an advertisement. Great service, great staff, best place ever, been here for years, always satisfying, blah, blah, blah. I smell foul play. more

I hate to right a bad review on a place I've been going to for so many years, and I've never written a bad review on any local business but tonight's experience was horrible. I arrived for my 7:00 appointment and the woman at the front desk told me to go wait in the back. Twenty minutes later I went up front to check with her on if anybody was available to see me. She said the woman who was scheduled to do my brow wax was still in her previous appointment. She looked around in a rather panicked fashion until a woman arrived from the salon area, she explained that she didn't know what to do and the woman (didn't catch a name) said that she would do my brow wax even though she was obviously done with work and on her way out the door. I felt bad for inconveniencing her and apologized, and she was kind about it and said it would be fine. I was a little apprehensive about having someone who was already checked out for the day rush through my appointment, but I had to leave town the next day and couldn't reschedule for several weeks so I went for it. The table she had me lie down on was sticky and i was peeling wax off my hands for thirty minutes after the appointment. (I was also picking it out of my hair for a while after... not quite sure how that happened.) After my appointment I just wanted to get out of there so I payed and left, and when i looked in the mirror i noticed that not only had she not followed the natural line of my brows, (they've never been this shape before, in fact, they lack any shape at all, they're just straight across) but they were un-even lengths, the left was relatively normal but she waxed off the whole back end of the right one so that it was just the fat part on top with no tail end. I'm not sure whether to pluck the left one to make it look even or wear my hair over my face on the right side to try to hide it. It's by FAR the worst eyebrow wax i've ever had. I can't believe I payed to look deformed for the next month. more

Had my hair done by Nina, and she is so friendly and focused on providing just what you want. I have dark brown hair and wanted something new but not to wild. I am 46 not 26. Anyway she did a new technique leaving dark and light variations so my hair had carmel and brown and auburn and red shades within the brown. It looks great and I get so many compliements. Best part was a free haircut because I was a new client. So it was crazy cheap and great too. I will definitely be going back for more. more

Finishing Touch Spa & Salon is a rare breed of spa in Boulder - it's *affordable*, even for the most penny-pinched student, yet it still maintains high standards of luxury that one would expect in a full-service spa. On the salon side, there is always a mix of elderly women having their hair set along with younger women receiving today's stylish haircuts (although come to think of it, I've never seen men getting their hair cut there). Carly is the first hair stylist in Boulder that I've stayed with for more than 1 year (out of 16 years living here!), because she consistently gives me the cut *I* want as opposed to the cut *she* wants to give me; her color skills are top-rate as well. I also appreciate that Finishing Touch donates customers' long hair to Locks of Love. Over in the spa, I've enjoyed luxurious pedicures with massage chairs and reflexology, as well as the less-enjoyable but sadly necessary waxing appointments. All treatment rooms are well-appointed and relaxing. I would take off one star for the fact that there is a high turnover rate with aestheticians, and it is disheartening to have to be waxed by someone new when you've already gotten attached to someone else. However, I had to give back the subtracted star for their excellent membership program - you pay a set fee at the beginning of the year and get excellent discounts all year long. Finishing Touch Spa & Salon is a great find. Be sure to check out their $49 mid-week massages; you can't beat it! more

Everyone was very coordinated and helpful, made it happen and the compliments I received were overwhelming. I would highly recommend to anyone who is doing the wedding yourself and has limited time, etc. they will handle it...just relax. Pros: great people, wedding fantastic!!! Cons: only drawback is that there isn't one closer more

The staff is always pleasant and willing to work with you if there is a problem. Some of the services can become a little expensive, but online they normally have some good deals. Also, if you become a member, you get 10% off any service you receive. This offer is good to share with your friends as well. Pros: very friendly, relaxing atmosphere, Cons: can be pricey more

My sister, daughter and I have gone to the spa together several times. We've had facials, massages, manicures, pedicures, and mud baths. I've enjoyed all of the services, and so have my family. They have a hot tub you can relax in prior or after your treatments and you can order lunch, which you eat by the hot tub. The staff are down to earth and prices reasonable compared to other spas I've visited. Because of the staff and pricing, this is my favorite spa to date. more
