Recently at a D.C. sports memorabilia show, there were many of the old time baseball & football players in attendance. Fans were lining up to get autographs. Anywhere from jerseys, to balls, to sports cards. However, there was a company that had a vendors booth setup that was selling numbers. Numbers? Yes, they were selling athletic numbers that are made to be sewn onto a sports jerseys. Why would anyone do that you ask? Well, its simple. They were charge $150 to have one of the old players sign their jersey. That's pretty steep sometimes, so I thought, why not have them just sign an authentic team number that the player wore for only $10, and I can have it applied to my baseball jersey later on. What a great idea. The vendor was Eastern Lettering. They were selling these numbers so quickly, the table had to shut down midday to get more supplies from their shop. The line was out the door because the sew on numbers themselves were only $6.00 each. Then again, we took the numbers to get autographed for only $10 each. I mean, the table had everything from iron on letters to custom patches, to sew on nameplates, etc. Anything you could think of, they had. Now my only dilema was, how am I going to get these authentic sports numbers sewn onto my authentic MLB jersey? All I had to do was look up and there was the gentlemen telling me about their custom stitching service. They would take my personal blank jersey, sewn on my autographed number, then sew on the corresponding players digits and sports lettering patch onto the back. I mean, everything was right here for me to customize an entire jersey. This was 2 weeks ago. Well just the other day, I opened up my mailbox & there it was. My completely customized Willie Mays jersey. It was better than I thought. The lettering on the back was arched correctly, the jersey numbers on the front & back were spaced evenly. The stitching work was beyond my expectations. I also have another jersey at home that I will be sending to them. It has iron on letters and numbers as well as iron on patches on the sleeves. I am attempting to change the name & number on them, so they are going to custom sew the new, authentic numbers & letters right over top of the iron on numbers & letters and stitch a brand new custom nameplate over top of the old one. Eastern Lettering removed each patch, stripped the jersey clean, then went back and used their own athletic numbers and have them resewn onto the jersey. We gave it back to our customer and they were just amazed. Not only was the workmanship excellent, the actual colors were right on, the sizing of the numbers made the new ones fit perfect, and whoever did the removing of the old patches, did such a good job that the jersey had absolutely no imperfections. Eastern Lettering specializes in taking an authentic NFL, NBA, NHL, or MLB jersey, and customizing it to the customers needs, whether it be a child or adult jersey. So for example, if you go purchase a sports jersey from the store, and it is totally blank, and you'd like to have to have athletic numbers sewn onto the jersey, Eastern Lettering is the place to go. They also provide iron on letter and numbers, iron on patches, as well as custom lettering such as script wording. WOULD GIVE A NEGATIVE NUMBER OF STARS IF IT WAS POSSIBLE I placed a phone order on June 16, 2011 for a Cleveland Indians baseball jersey name plate, lettering and numbers along with the number 2 for a North Carolina baseball jersey. After waiting almost a month I contacted Eastern Lettering on July 11, 2011 and was told the order would arrive soon. Fair enough. But my credit card was charged again for the same amount, 85.49 on that day. I contacted Eastern Lettering by phone and was told to send documentation and they would reverse the charge but never did.. He also said he had no record of the 2nd charge. Then why is it on my credit card statement? The order arrived on Monday July 18 but was incorrect and incomplete It contained only the name plate and and number 2 for the north carolina jersey which were unstictched. It was missing the numbers 1 and 7 stitched numbers for the Indians jersey . I emailed the merchant inquiring about these issues and received one email back asking me to clearify the incorrect orders contents. After another day of trying to email and telephone with no email repies or somebody answering my calls, they just go to voice mail I did an internet search on Eastern Lettering and found numerous other people who have had the same experience and many negative reviews of the company. Do a google search on eastern lettering complaints and click on the Better Business Bureau link to see about 100 other complaints (this reviewer wont let me paste in the link) On July 19, 2011 I contacted my credit card company to open a dispute for the 2nd charge. they have issued me a temporary credit for my account and have opened and investigation. I also had my credit card number changed because this company seems to have a habit of unauthorized charges. more

I called Eastern Lettering at 3:30 in the afternoon and needed letters for a project immediately. They shipped them out the same day for me and I received them the very next day. The customer service rep was very nice & did not rush me off of the phone like another company did. I am very impressed with their pricing & their lettering. My project turned out great and I owe it all to them. more

My order was received yesterday and it was very nice. It came with complete instructions. I got the prestitched numbers and all I did was heat press them onto my blank jersey and now it looks professional. Never would have thunk it!! Thanks for selling this product! more

I wish I had seen this site before I ordered anything. Ordered letters on Apr 22. I emailed them on May 14 to ask where my order was. They said a color was on BO (Why didn't they let me know that on Apr 22?) and should receive my order ""end of next week."" It's May 25, still no show and no email response. Take your business elsewhere! Update: I called on June 3rd and the gentleman said it shipped. Checked my cc bill and THEY CHARGED ME A SECOND TIME. I received an email on June 9th that it shipped (Somebody's not telling the truth? *shocker*). June 12th, still no merchandise. My cc company has opened two cases to resolve this. Either these guys are the most incompetent business people in NC or they're crooks. Either way, caveat emptor. more

Eastern Lettering put our logo and numbers on our teams jerseys. They all looked so nice. The parents were amazed how good they look because our last vendor didn't do a good enough job. But Eastern Lettering's workmanship was worth the price. We have passed their name along to the other teams in the league as well. more

Notice a pattern with the reviews here? It's either 1 star or 5 stars. Don't ya think it's odd that 2 postive reviews (always both created on the same date) follow a negative review. Every time a negative review is entered someone comes here to make 2 positive reviews. Just look at the two previous examples, and the 2 positive before that, and the 2 before that.. You get the picture. Funny how these entries only ever have one review to their account. It's like someone created the account just to post how great Eastern is, which let me tell you could not be farther from the truth. The positive reviews are damage recovery folks. Not real and not valid. Don't get suckered and find some other place to get your tackle twill names and numbers. You don't always get what you pay for.... sometimes you get nothing. Should I cut and paste the three months worth of emails from me trying to get my money back or the merchandise you failed to deliever? Of course, that was only after I was hung up on while on hold on multiple ocassions. Good advice though, so how about you take it? From the Better Business Bureau and I quote "Based on BBB files, Eastern Lettering has a pattern of complaints concerning the non-delivery or late delivery of products. On October 14, 2010 the company was invited to meet with BBB to discuss ways to correct the underlying cause of the complaints. The company responded on October 26, 2010 stating "The delivery issues are being resolved. We are just opening a new location and will have 2 employees working for us. This will resolve the issues. No need for us to come in to see you as we know the nature of the complaints & how to resolve them." BBB allowed the company time to resolve the issues. Consumers continued to complain and a second pattern letter was sent January 18, 2011. There was no response from the company on the second pattern letter." Kind of funny you mentioning communication when there's NO RESPONSE FROM EASTERN LETTERING but you have the time to post fake reviews and responses here. more
