Charter Sucks 1/18/2012

Wife talked to Charter today. Said we were behind a payment. Found out Charter messed up and credited our account with someone else's payment. Had to talk to a representitive....then a supervisor. Finally had to call corperate. These people are total F**k up's. more

ONE WORD. PITIFUL. 8/12/2011

This company has failed me time and time again. Charter communications internet simply does not work. I would estimate that the internet is up 10% of the time. I currently pay for the highest service they can possibly provide and I receive next to nothing for my hard earned money. I could not be more appalled by the incompetence that every Charter employee I've encountered has exhibited. I have had numerous technicians visit and been told the same thing ""It appears your wiring was damaged and has now been repaired. I also changed your modem for you."" Every single time the internet was down shortly after his/her departure. I am not exaggerating any of this information in any way. If you endeavor to obtain this company's service and pay them then I feel sorry for you because misery is imminent. My business requires 24/7 internet, and that is something that Charter has NEVER been able to even approach in my experience with their service. I HIGHLY recommend that you stay as far away from this pathetic excuse for a company as you can. more

Charter Worst Customer Service Ever 7/8/2011

orrible Customer Service. Failure to correct billing Failure to follow through on promises Different answers at every interaction Sold account to Collections Charter changed their acceptable use forcing me to transfer my service to Business class. The Transfer went through. Except charter did not stop billing. They continued to bill be for residential even though it was supposedly canceled. I called in a month after transfer after getting a disconnect notice. I spent at least an hr on the phone with the billing supervisor. They advised they were going to backdate the account to the correct billing date and send a tech out to collect no longer needed hardware. I made it 100% clear to the person on the phone that I still had charter service not to disconnect me. However the tech when they came out did not come to my door to collect my hardware but instead Disconnected my service. Leaving me down and costing me vital income due to the interruption. Charter then tried to tell me it was an area interruption. Which it clearly wasn't. A charter agent even told me to wasn't. They took hours upon hours to restore my service and still did not collect their hardware. Many calls over the next two months and 2 promises by charter to send me a box to send the hardware in and never getting it and they sold my acct to collections. Even though they had yet to collect their hardware or yet to even send me an accurate bill reflecting the $6x.xx dollars the agent first told me I would have left. At this point I contact Charter corporate offices. And start working with Candy. She tells me That charter has sold the account to collections and they show a balance of $18x.xx not $60 ( I hadn't gotten a bill in that amount either) + the DVR that charter had failed on a total of 4 times to collect as they had promised. This was a month ago. I say fine. And have someone take the hardware to a charter office. I report this to Candy who can then find no record of it. And says the office should have given me paper work. They didnt. A week or so goes by. I hear back from Candy they show the DVR as back but that I have a modem of Charter. I have no modem of charters except the one for my current service. I then hear nothing back from Candy. I then work with a Gentleman who says the modem was a mistake and showed properly as my own modem and not charters. At this point I inform charter they have wasted 3 months of my time. And given me the worst service of my life and that I want them to wipe to the balance on the old acct to make up for my lost time/income. I hear nothing back from this gentleman. I then call charter back. They are refusing to wipe acct balance. They show no record of the agent giving me the $6x.xx amount and they will not pull the acct from collections unless their is an error in the amt. There was an error. It was not my fault that they did not pick up their hardware. I even returned their hardware. The amt they are giving me is not the amt that the agent first gave me. And they refuse to answer for this horrible experiences. I also give them times to call me and the number to call me on and they continue to call me on the incorrect number at the incorrect time. Today the agent that called me now says I owe $22x.xx because I have one of their modems. This is the first time I have heard of this or this amount. Everyone gives me a different number and reason and it is well past ridiculous. more

Run far away from Charter!!!!!!! 4/1/2011

Charter is THE WORST internet provider I have come across in my life (and I have lived in 3 different states and 2 different countries!)! I spend all my cell minutes on the phone complaining about no or intermittent internet connection. They will credit your bill a couple dollars per day (if you are forceful) but that does not help when you have solid work to do using your internet. I HATE CHARTER. In the process of switching right now. 6mths of this crap is way too long! I wish I could give this company NO stars, it is that bad! more

Get your act together Charter! 2/13/2010

We had a similar experience to what is being mentioned; however, we talked to 20 Charter communication workers! They had our phone service not working for over 20 days! Unbelievable. Finally , AT&T came and fixed our phone in 10 minutes what had taken Charter almost a month. Charter had actually cut our phone line. The AT&T guy couldn't figure it out. He said he's happy they have Charter, it's good business for AT@T for all the customers that come running back. Pros: good cable Cons: Communication, communication, communication more

Bad, Bad, Bad 10/12/2009

Thank God for DSL from the reliable old phone company!! Charter screwed up my automated billing, unbeknownst to me, now wants to charge ME $25 for it. In addition, they cut off my service and want ME to pay $50 to reconnect it, plus a month's service charge in advance. Well, I don't think so. Pros: Right now, none that I can think of Cons: You name it more

Attrocious Service 8/16/2009

If you have the opportunity, take any other provider you can. I've heard great things about AT&T U-verse, try out DSL... hell, try satellite Internet before you get in bed with Charter Communications. Let me count the reasons you need to avoid them: 1) inept customer service. They actually gave me the login credentials for someone else's account once. I could see this other person's name, billing info, etc. I shudder to think what they're doing with my private information. 2) late techs. I've taken off work twice for installations by Charter techs. On both occasions the tech didn't show up on time, and on one of those two occasions, he showed up three hours later taking another hour to fix the issue. I had to stay home all day that day. 3) my Internet goes down all the time. I'm practically on a first name basis with the customer reps at this point. Heed my advice - look elsewhere. Pros: they are the only provider in my neighborhood (read: none) Cons: customer service, late technicians, inconsistent delivery more

Awful company! 5/22/2008

I have had so many problems with charter I can not even put it in words or no where to begin. Please stay away from this company. My little girl has only saw me cry a couple times in my lfe and I can not believe as srange as it sounds this company made me cry. I feel like I am in the twilight zone when I talk to them! They have robbed to many evenings from my family and to many days of lost work. I have deciced money is no longer a factor I will pay more whatever it takes to stay as far away from this company as I can. My fiance is handling the final details I will not use another day of my life on the phone with them. Cons: everything more

Terrible Installation Crew 4/23/2008

We are new to the state of Missouri and had Cox Communications back in Tulsa, OK. Amazing that such a smaller area, would actually make Charter look so unprofessional. This is week 3 with Charter, and my 3rd fight to get services active at my home. Our first installation for TV and internet was rescheduled because the techinician reported that our signal was too poor coming to the house to run anything on. We were rescheduled for a week later, and when the technician came back out, our line was completely fine, simply needed a small signal boost installed. We waited an extra week for nothing, and it took more than two weeks of waiting before we had service. The techinician that returned came out about 5 hours later than scheduled, but did make the effort to call and let us know. Pros: Seem to offer the same service that every major cable company does around the US Cons: Very poor installation crews, and little to no ability to communicate from Customer Service to Install Technicians more

I am not exaggerating when I say this is the worst company on the face of the Earth. 9/7/2006

I am typically a very patient person, but I have had the worst customer relations fiasco ever in my entire life with Charter. You could write a book on how not to run a business based on how Charter operates. I had to make 6 appointments with Charter before someone finally connected my phone. On one occasion, I heard the service man leave a note on my door, but before I could catch him he ran to his truck and was already driving off. He never knocked so that he could just go to lunch early if he didn't have to hook up my phone. In trying to get an appointment, I called Charter 12 separate times and talked to 23 different people. When you call them, they tell you that they cannot help you but someone else can, and they pass you on to the next person who cannot help you. In between phone reps, you have to go through the entire phone button punching routine. You will go around in circles for hours when you call. The certainly have nice people working their phones, but they are useless in helping you find out why no one showed up for an appointment and how to get the service person to come back and finish the job. I threatened that I would use another service, but they threatened me in return with $150 in penalties against me for early disconnect. When I finally got a phone, they gave me the same phone number as someone else so that I shared a phone with a complete stranger at another address. After calling them again, many times, I finally got my own phone number which they immediately sold to telemarketers who were calling me, by my name, within hours of my connection. I know it was Charter who sold my number because they were the only people who knew my number at this time. In having to make 6 appointments, waiting around for them to show up, and having to be on the phone with them hours at a time, I have had to take 8+ vacation days from work to get my phone connected. Looking back, I wish I had taken the $150 disconnect penalty and used someone else. Pros: After much fighting, I finally have a phone and cable. Cons: The stress from the entire fiasco probably took a few months off of my life. more
