Some of the people at Broadway are really nice, and I've been going there for years, but I always dread going if by chance I get stuck with an older female vet who shall go unname...

I have brought my pets here for four 5/14/2012

I have brought my pets here for four years now. I've had great experiences every time with the vets and techs. Occasionally I get a sassy front desk person, but it's few and far between. more

I have been bringing my dog and cat 2/21/2012

I have been bringing my dog and cat here for years, and have always had a great experience. The staff is very kind and gentle with my animals. I have not had any negative interactions with the front desk staff as some of the other reviewers have mentioned - they have always been very friendly and helpful. more

Why such rude front desk staff??? 4/14/2011

The ONLY reason I bring my dog here is because of Dr. Schaad. Unfortunately, I have to get through the front desk girl to get to him. I also come in periodically to purchase flea preventative. The last time I did so, which was just last week, the young woman working at the front desk had her usual smug, ""I hate everyone"" attitude. When I tried to make friendly small talk with her, I was ignored. I mean flat out IGNORED. Could I at least get some eye contact?? I'm so tired of it that I logged on here today to shop for a new vet. I'll take my dog to Dr. Schaad only in an emergency. Everything else, I'm going to see someone else. Too bad. more

Compassionate professional care 12/31/2010

We have used Broadway Vet for about 5 years and have had nothing but compassionate professional care. Dr.'s spend time with us to discuss our animals conditions and get back to us with in a timely manor. All employees from office staff, Tech's to Dr.'s have been very professional and supportive with all our high needs animals. Our animals are a huge priority in our life and I trust them completely with the care of our pets. more

Take it from someone who knows... 12/21/2010

YES the thin blonde at the front desk is exceptionally rude - this is Dr. Schaad's daughter! She's not liked - but there's nothing anyone can do about it. However- don't let this minor side note discourage you- this is a wonderful clinic.\r \r The Vets really care and are really knowledgeable. If they want to do extra steps- it's because they want to be thorough- not cash in. They make plenty of money- no need to be devious. As far as the comment on Dr. Pennel- she is a wonderful physician! She may not be gushy over your pet, but she's not aiming to be rude, she's just matter of fact, to the point, and damn good at her job.\r \r Every place has it's quirks, the benefits of this establishment heavily outweigh any grumblings listed here. more

No better vet clinic anywhere. 10/19/2010

Broadway Veterinary Clinic has been my home clinic for all of my pets now for over 12 years. They've shown outstanding care for my three dogs and cat (as well as previous dog). Dr. Schaad is the kindest doc, and an extremely talented surgeon. Dr. Pennel, though gruff, always has the animal's best interest at heart. Dr. Lambert is professional and kind. They not only care for the animal with 100% dedication; they also care for the owner and their relationship. They are more reasonably priced than most vets I have heard about or visited -- they won't jack up the price or recommend unnecessary procedures. They are simply wonderful. more

Great EXCEPT for Dr. Pennel 10/14/2010

Dr. Pennel is an unhappy person who seems to want to make her patient's owners equally unhappy. She's blaming, negative, assumes you're neglectful and stupid, and doesn't listen. She doesn't seem to want to work with pet owners to accomodate their lifestyles or financial means. She makes no attempt to hide her disdain for me.\r That said, all of the other vets at BVC have been great, and while the front office folks won't win any charm awards I've also not had specific problems with them. This is a great clinic to go to if you can stay away from Dr. Pennel. more

WONDERFUL vet, less than amazing tech 10/11/2010

I've never written a review before, but feel inspired to do so now because of how great Dr. Jepson was. She was incredibly kind and you can tell that she became a vet for the right reasons (i.e. caring about animals!). She was so sweet to my new cat and repeatedly thanked me for taking him in as a stray. She helped me prioritize his vaccinations and treatments when I explained that I was on a budget, and she even comped her own vet visit. I left absolutely stunned by my experience with her. \r \r I will say, however, that the vet tech who was in before her was quite bad. He seemed new and more interested in making small talk to take up his time at work than caring for my cat. After six unsuccessful attempts to rectally take his temperature that left my cat freaking out, he finally gave up. With that said, Dr. Jepson's extreme competence made up for what I'm sure was just a new employee and I'd recommend people go here. more

Woman vet that hates Dobermans! 1/26/2010

I have been to Broadway Vet clinic 2 times, and the second time was very annoying. In these two periods, I had 2 Dobermans I was fostering(seperately), one was a 12 week old, and the other was a 3year old. The day I brought the 3 year old to the clinic was a shocking one. Everything was fine until I went back with the older, female vet, who was clearly an idiot who did not get veterinary medicine, or animal behavior in general. While in the exam room, she was edgy around my boy Nubis, who was very calm and loving. I was telling her what was wrong with him at the time, he had a skin condition, and diarrhea. She literally was ignoring anything I was saying about his symptoms. Being a graduate in the Veterinary field, I felt pride in explaining what was wrong with him. But she did not want any part of it. What she had to say at the end of the exam was truely appalling, and ignorant, especially coming from a Vet. First she asks "Have you ever had a Doberman before?" Then she exclaims, matt more

Don't take your pet here 10/4/2009

I could write non-stop about how bad this place is. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE. They will keep you guessing so you will keep coming back and spending more and more money. Their job is to diagnose the problem and solve it and in my experience they just treat the symptom and don't look for the root cause. They should be ashamed of themselves. My groomer was able to notice symptoms that the VETS, Yes VETS 4 different ones not once ever thought about. Our dog was treated here for 3 years and after hundreds of dollars were non the wiser. Pros: Nothing Cons: Everything more

hot and cold 10/2/2009

I have had mixed experiences at BVC. I have an older cat with what I was told has "old cat' Leukemia. Brought him in for a checkup because he has started urinating in spots he never has before. Blah, blah blah. My point is that along the way, I asked for his claws to be clipped and when I asked how much it would cost, I was treated like I was some sort of abusive pet owner. I had no intention of letting him go on in pain, but was just calculating my budget, as I have had my hours cut and now need to figure the exact date of my homelessness. I would do absolutely anything that is within my power to keep my, the sweetest cat that ever lived alive, but, I am sooo strapped right now. The absolute last thing I needed was for some young girl to give me any attitude about whether I was going to relieve my cat of his pain. His is my baby! I would sell everything I owned before allowing him to go in in pain! I have had off and on, judgmental, without inquiry, responses from that clinic and it n more

We love this clinic!! 2/26/2009

My cats receive top-notch care, they are always able to squeeze us in for emergencies (why, oh why, do my cats insist on getting sick, or breaking teeth late at night?) The doctors have always called me back promptly, and though I prefer Dr. Pennell, the others are great too. I believe the grouchy front-end staff has moved on. more

VET needs Social Skills 12/28/2008

Some of the people at Broadway are really nice, and I've been going there for years, but I always dread going if by chance I get stuck with an older female vet who shall go unnamed. Well, I did recently, and I have to say, she is the crankiest know-it-all person you could come across. She doesn't LISTEN and I can't even tell if she likes animals. Seems like she is too good for the people that bring their sick animals to her. After a lot of thought, I am changing vets. I will miss the compassionate Dr. Jepson, and Dr. Shaad- but I cannot stand the attitude of this particular vet. more

Not going back to Broadway Vet 11/9/2008

I agree with the other reviews about poor customer service at the front desk, I have never felt welcomed there by the staff, it's like they're being inconvenienced by your presence. And I have seen two different vets since I started going there, both seemed ok, but not overflowing with information that would be helpful. Such as the possible negative reaction my pet might (and did) have to the three vaccinations given to him, even some pamphlets about the vaccinations would have been helpful, as I'm finding out more online than I did at their office. more

Never had a problem... 11/8/2008

We love Broadway Vet. Our dog has been going there for 7 years and we have never experienced any rudeness, the staff have always been friendly, helpful, knowledgeable and I would recommend it to everyone! In fact, I have to many people who have also been very satisfied with the services and care provided. more

Dr. Schaad truly is compassionate 9/20/2008

I understand what the other reviewers are saying about the front end staff seeming un-compassionate or uncaring and sometimes even rude. When my cats both had a bad reaction to their shots, I called there and the receptionist insisted ""That's not possible. There is no way that BOTH cats would have a reaction."" She basically was calling me a liar. They are sisters from the same litter, so it was possible! When I brought them in - they were both running high fevers. It is just one example of how the front end doesn't do Dr. Schaad justice. Pros: Dr. Schaad is truly a compassionate vet who seems to really care about animals and their owners! Cons: Front end staff can often be rude, or appear to not really have compassion more

Staff is rude, inexperienced and apathetic 8/31/2008

I have to completely agree that the front desk staff is very apathetic & indifferent. The blonde that everyone is referring to is really rude. No smiles, little eye contact, looks like she'd rather be anywhere else but there. I've never really encountered ANYONE friendly at the front desk.\r \r I took my dog here a couple times, never saw the same person twice. The first was a girl fresh outta school who knew nothing. The second was a tech apparently who didn't even pet or acknowledge my dog when he walked in the room. I didn't get the sense that this person had a true compassion for animals.\r \r So, even though it's not convenient, I'm heading back to Best Friends in John's Landing to Dr. Walker. By far - she is the best care my dog has EVER received & they are over the top friendly & caring toward her. I'll drive out of my way to be sure she gets the best care rather than inconveniencing the day of anyone at Broadway Vet. more

Great place and staff 8/14/2008

I just came back from taking our dog to Broadway Veterinary Clinic. Great staff, Front desk and back. No problems what so ever, and the tech and Doctor were both wonderful. You can tell everyone there really likes animals.\r \r Whatever problem they may have had seems to be taken care of, so I do recommend this place. more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE!!! 8/8/2008

I would not recommend Dr. Schaad or anyone else at his clinic besides Dr. Jepson. Most of the staff have not had professional training. They are not completely sterile in their surgeries. I know this because I used to work there. In fact, when they were spaying my cat, they did not put her under anesthesia. They only sedated her and she was waking up while they were suturing her. And on top of that they didn't even give her pain meds. I had to do it myself. Needless to say I was not happy! They also let techs, that have not been to school, perform surgeries. And the worst of all, and the main reason that I quit there, is that I have seen on many occasions, technicians slapping dogs across the face when they do not cooperate. On top of all this, the staff there are very rude and inconsiderate of clients and patients. Like others have said, especially the front desk staff. And the funny thing is, the young blonde woman that they were talking about is Dr. Schaad,s daughter! And the grumpy more

Great for Pets! 7/21/2008

I have been going to Broadway Veterinary Clinic for about 5 years now and would highly recommend them. A couple things that stood out were during a time that my dog was very ill and had to be taken to Dove Lewis for care. The veterinarian loaded me up with meds and IV's to take with me over to Dove Lewis because the cost was much less for me to purchase these at Broadway. That is something I have never had done by any vet and something I would have never thought to ask for. \r \r Also, my dog had an ear infection one time and the Veterinarian let me go in the back to see the infection in the microscope for myself. I thought that was fascinating to see and have never had that type of personal treatment for myself or my pet. They have far surpassed my expectations and I will miss them very much as I am moving out of state. :( more
