Editorial review from Citysearch 9/17/2013

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY! DAMAGE CAUSED AND THEY WON'T PAY FOR IT!\r (Posted here too - this company has moved to Commerce Blvd in Oldsmar but same terrible service)\r \r 14 days without air\r \r 8/27 - Referred by American Home Shield (AHS Warranty) around 7:30pm. I called Airzone (who advertises they are 24/7) and spoke to a woman that could only tell me to call them back during business hours on Monday. \r \r 8/29 - said it was an electrical problem and left (it wasn't, and I spent the next day pleading with AHS to not waste time sending an electrician out, which wouldn't be until 9/4 to diagnose this). This is Day 1 I took off work. \r \r 8/31 - diagnosed as a bad blower board in air handler\r \r 9/6 - came out to install the board and noticed that the harness the old board was connected to was not usable (8/31 tech missed this detail). This is Day 2 I took off work. \r \r 9/7 - harness & blower board installed\r \r 9/8 - we noticed water coming from our garage ceiling. I went into the attic and saw that pipes running to drain pan were not connected and water pouring out of them. After just connecting pipes manually, the water flowed correctly into the drain pan. They say they are a 24/7 company, but when I called on 9/8 to report the water, John was unclear. He kept changing what he said from ""there's nobody here"" or ""I don't have anyone available."" He was very rude and told me that I'd have to call back on Monday morning to set up an APPOINTMENT to fix their error. After calling AHS, they called John on the phone and he was ""magically"" able to go ahead and set an appointment time with them without checking the staffing for the next day. \r \r 9/9 - Airzone shop vac'd the attic and glued the pipes together. The employee had a conversation very far away from my wife's earshot and then left. This is Day 1 my wife took off work (3 days total between us). They were scheduled to be out between 11 and 3pm, but said they called my wife's number and nobody answered so they went on to another call. Later found out that the employee I gave my wife's number to (because I know what my wife's cell # is), wrote it down wrong and they didn't try to contact me (they had my number from previous calls). The tech showed up at 4:30pm. My wife almost could have worked a full day instead of wasting time in an non-airconditioned home. \r \r 9/17 - Thomas, their manager, is blaming an install from 10+ years ago for not gluing the pipes. The pipes have managed to be perfectly fine that entire time. He would not rule out that his guys might have accidentally kicked the pipes, but he said they aren't responsible even if they did because the pipes were not glued properly TEN YEARS AGO. \r \r So 14 days of no A/C, 3 days of work taken off, and I ended up having to buy a portable A/C unit for $200 that a neighbor was lending me due to the number of hours we put on it. Does Airzone apologize? No. Does Airzone care? You be the judge. \r \r USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. They won't even apologize for writing numbers down wrong, let alone causing damage. If you have a warranty company and they refer you to Airzone, say NO. \r more

Respond to your customers. Do not leave them for days without an A/C unit in the summer.\r \r Agree with other comments. Air Zone is a bad company. Home Shield people: request a different company and report Air Zone as not doing their job. more

Editorial review from Citysearch 9/10/2012

THE OWNER OF THIS COMPANY IS A CRIMINAL AND THUG. My home warranty company American Home Shield sent this company out. After a quick google search of this company I was astonished that they would do business with a company like this. Air Zone had so many horrible reviews. I am a 67 year old disabled man and the owner of this company attacked me. He stole my phone, pushed me to the ground and then tried to run me over with his company vehicle. PLEASE DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY!!! THE OWNER IS A PSYCO-PATH AND HAS ANGER PROBLEMS AND IS A DANGEROUS VIOLENT MAN. more

Worst service. Do not use! They take 6/11/2012

Worst service. Do not use! They take your money and leave without fixing your a/c. Then they do 't return your call! Had to sleep in a house that was 100 degrees with my poor husband who is recovering from a long illness. Wit their Horrible service and under qualified techs, I'm sure the only business they get is through home warranty companies! Stay away, more

Worst customer experience ever 10/18/2011

Air Zone has rude employees from the front line employee to the owner of this location. Air Zone was sent out by our Home Warranty Co (First American) who also did NOTHING to address our problems. Air Zone wanted to leave before fixing our problem (major leak) and had to send another person two days later. The second visit was MUCH worse as the Air Zone employee showed up with a horrible attitude. He would not answer questions or offer any assistance. He ended up storming out of our home when he was confronted with his attitude. He tried to get the last word by taking our A/C disconnect which cut off all electricity to our A/C unit. The police had to get involved (they considered the Air Zone employee's actions to be theft). Air Zone was advised by the police to return our A/C disconnect. The A/C disconnect was only returned after repeated calls to our home warranty company. DO NOT use Air Zone for anything! We ended up spending hundreds of dollars fixing the A/C problem through another contractor outside of the home warranty firm (First American). This is a NO STAR rating!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! more

Air Zone is incompetent, rude and, untrustworthy 6/28/2011

Like some others reviewing this company, they were sent by my home warranty company. The first time they came, they added some freon and couldn't locate a problem. The second time, they removed the coils, telling me it would be two days at the shop. I took the family to stay at a motel because it was too hot to stay in the house. After two days, I had to call them to find out they sent the unit to the factory and it would be 7 - 10 days before they would know when it was going to be returned. I raised hell, but could do nothing about it. I bought a room AC, and moved us all into the living room. Their manager told me he didn't believe the service man told me it would be two days. Two days after that, they returned and reinstalled, saying they found leaks and repaired them. I suspect it never left their shop, but what do I know? One week later, the house wouldn't cool, and today they are back again after two days of living hell and reinstalling the room AC. I'm going to keep on them till it's fixed because I can't afford another company to come in now, but I will never use them after that. more

Worst, Most Incompetent Company 5/10/2011

If 0 stars were an option, that is what I would give this company. Unprofessional, incompetent workers incorrectly diagnosed the problem with our air conditioner. After waiting a week for the part, a repairman arrived without the necessary tools to complete the job. He said he would need to return the next day. My husband insisted he return the same day. Workers from the company came back to our house a few hours later. This time one of them took the time to correctly diagnose the problem and it was discovered that the part we waited a week for was not needed. The system was repaired in 10 minutes. Based on their reviews, I would have never chosen to do business with this company. Our case was assigned to them through our home warranty company. I have spoken to the home warranty company and made it clear that Air Zone will never be allowed in this house again. more

Sent to me by the Home Warranty Company 12/17/2009

I have dealt with customers as an electrician for 20 years and as a hotel & mall maintenance for the last few years. NEVER EVER have I gotten into an argument with a customer or tell them that they ""didn't know what the F@%K they are talking about"". Took a week to get them to show up and both times they were late. Then they make a mess on my brand new carpet and freshly painted walls (we just moved in 2 weeks ago). The ""tech"" shows up with his teenage helper. Both are covered with nose, ear and face piercings. Both are unprofessional and unprepared. Then when they found out that I complained to the Home Warranty Company, they refused to finish the work until I cut them a check. NEVER EVER LET AIRZONE A/C IN YOUR HOME!!!!!! Pros: NONE!! Cons: Rude, Messy, Unprofessional more

Poor Customer Service - Does not finish work... 8/17/2009

Used AirZone through warranty company. They came out and disconencted our AC to allow the condenser to thaw and then left. They told us that they would return after three hours, but when we called the office they said that they would not be back until the following week. They were very rude on the phone and hung up without resolution. We spent 5 days without AC in hot Tampa August heat. We contacted the warranty company and they are sending another company because Air Zone will not answer the phone for them either. Cons: Does not return calls, rude! more

I do NOT recommend - They will NOT return phone calls - 6/25/2009

I wish I would have read the two previous reviews before contacting Air Zone. However, I did not and now I am out $700.00 and I feel very used. They were eager to return my phone calls when they were pretty sure that they would be able to charge a large fee for replacing air conditioning parts. However, when my air handler started leaking so bad that it was litterally raining in my garage I was unable to get anyone from Air Zone to return my calls. My ceiling is all wet and you need an umbrella to walk in my garage. I understand that maybe they would want to assist people who actually have non-working air conditioners first, but I think that after spending $700.00 I at least deserve the common professional respect of a return phone call. I can only suppose that they felt this service call might not get them big bucks so they decided to ignore me. After trying many things to fix the problem (ex. making sure the condensation/drip line was clear and at the proper angle) I think my husband might have figured out what was wrong. When homeowners have to start using trial and error to become air conditioning technicians it is pretty sad. Shame on Air Zone!!!! Don't waste your time or money because you can never be sure when they just decide to stop talking to you....I can only guess that they are too busy ripping off their next victim. Cons: Expensive and unprofessional more

Poor customer service. Not recommended. 6/4/2007

Air Zone came to my house to diagnose a problem we were having with out ac unit. A problem that we are still having. The technician listened to my description and proceeded to out outside unit. After roughly 15 minutes he came back in and said he couldn't find anything wrong. I asked if he had checked the pressure, freon, etc. and he said yes. He then said his only ""guess"" would be that that contactor was sticking and that was why the condenser was staying on while the air handler was off. But he wasn't sure. He said he could go ahead and replace it for me or I could let it go. Since he had previously said he couldn't find any problems, and this was a ""guess"", I said I'd pass on the questionable repair. I then called the company back and asked if they could send a different technician to my house. One that could tell me what was wrong. They informed me that he was the best they had and that if someone else came out I'd have to pay the $79 fee again. This was absolutely unacceptable to me. I feel that the first technician didn't do what I paid him for in the first place.....diagnose my problem. I told the receptionist the problem and asked again if they could do it without charging me again. She said she would call someone and call me back. No call back. I called 3 times and left messages over the next few days and got no response. The final time I called she told me again that I'd have to pay the service call charge again. I tried explaining to her that I felt I had been robbed of my $79 and still had no sure diagnosis and no repairs. They didn't seem to care. No matter what I said, she just kept repeating that I'd have to pay it again. As a customer, I did not feel valued at all. I'm still upset that I'm out $79 for nothing, and I still have something wrong with my AC. I would never recommend this service to anyone. I expressed to Air Zone how appalled I was with their customer service, but got no consolation. more

Friendlier demeaner may earn more business. 8/8/2006

It took several calls and trips out to my house for them to finally fix an electrical wiring mistake caused previously by a different contractor back in the winter (had no heat). On a recent service call, when asked to address a condensate pan leak, they wrote on invoice ""recommend replace air-handler or machine a new drip pan"" but told me verbally they didn't recommend the latter. Then why write it down? No follow up calls by them were made, which would have been good business practice. I took time and repaired the pan myself. Also, inappropriate when 'telling' me, not 'asking politely' that I needed to move items around in my attic. Most recently, my AC quit working, left a message with them on voicemail, and no return phone call. Turns out, the blower relay shorted out; it was corroded, not insulated or fastened properly, and not up to code, while a fire hazard - they should have told me this the previous times they worked on that unit. more
