I was on Five Squares for four months and Zone Manhattan for one month. The quality of the ZM food is very good, and the snacks are oftentimes very inventive. My problem with ZM was the lack of variety in the lunches and dinners. Dinner, every night, was fish and vegetables. Again, good quality, but the same thing every night. Lunches were often similar. Breakfasts were better, though there seem to be 7 or so basic breakfasts that get rotated. Given how inventive the snacks are, I wish they could translate that talent and variety into their dinners. Five Squares has a lot more variety, and I was able to stick with it for four months before it started to become old hat and I needed a break. On the other hand, Five Squares does not give you dessert, which ZM does, and does not give you very much fresh fruit or any yogurt (unless you're on the dairy plan). I liked the frut and yogurt that came with ZM, and the sweet fix.
