Broadway Volkswagen Screwed Up Again 5/21/2008

In November 2006 I brought my car in for a 60K service. The next day following the service my husband is driving to work and the undercarriage loosens up and starts dragging on the freeway. He immediately pulled over, got help to temporarily fix it and headed back to the dealership only to find out screws and security nuts were missing. In May 2008 I brought my car in for a 80K service. A week later following the service my husband is driving to work and he hears a knocking sound when he presses on the clutch and the car starts shaking. He immediately turns around and heads back to the dealership only to find out that the wheels were not centered correctly. Who knows what will happen at the next service (if I decide to go back)! Pros: The people are friendly. Cons: The mechanics need to do a better thorough check of services before returning cars to customers. more

BEWARE OF BROADWAY VOLKSWAGEN 1/15/2008

I recently went to the used car lot of broadway volkswagen interested in purchasing a phaeton. Being that this was their flagship model I was surprised tat how disrespectful the sales team was. I told them that I would be purchasing the vehicle outright without financing and they responded by asking me all types of personal questions as if I could not afford the 30k vehicle. I had to demand that the sales manager come out before I could test drive the vehicle. Unfortunately he was disrespectful as well. I left feeling extremely offended. After telling several friends who had been there before about my experience, they agreed that Broadway VW has terrible customer service. I would never purchase a vehicle from here. \r BUYER BEWARE more

Very poor service department 12/14/2007

I recently took my Jetta in for service early morning at this Volkswagen dealership. The Service Manager (Kathy) was very nice and firendly, and when I asked if I could pick it up by 2:30 pm, she said no problem. I called a couple of times in the early afternoon to check if my vehicle was ready, but all I got was voice mail. I got to the dealership at 3 pm and was told to go to the Cashier. The person there (I don't know her name) checked for my paperwork but was not there, sho she went to Kathy and came by and told me that Kathy was just going to print my paperwork and will call me in a few minutes. 45 minutes after, I was still waiting, so I went back to the cashier and told her how long I had been waiting. She said she would check, but never came back and updated me. After another 15 minutes, Kathy showed up- did not apologize and acted as if nothing happened. By this time I really was not happy, so all I wanted was to pay for the service and get out of there. As I was leaving, the more

Stay Away from Service here 10/16/2007

I agree - bad service and they overcharge unbelievably. I had to get my Jetta remote key replaced, I bought one on-line that claimed to be the correct one for my model but B'Way VW said it didn't work so I had to buy another from them - oh well but then they charged me the $70 for programming the key *twice* and wouldn't give on it. $200 for a replacement key! The manager sighed when I asked him to look into it like I was putting him out. Previous visit they asked me if they could change the oil while the car was in and I said sure: $110. Never again. more

I would be very leery about this dealership 2/16/2007

I usually take my car to Royal Motors, but when I moved to Oakland I decided to try this dealer for scheduled maintenance.\r \r I took my car in for service and when I got it back the trunk latch was broken. There is no reason to lie on my part, but the assistant mgr denied their responsibility. They were extremely rude and patronizing, they would never transfer me to the mgr and told me he was on vacation and later that he went to the dentist. I had to wait two days to get a call back on my complaint.\r \r I know for a fact the latch was not broken when I dropped it off because when they first called to tell the extra work that had to be done, they never mentioned a broken latch. Only after I had picked up the car did they say they had noticed the latch. They are obviously lying because the first thing one notices when they go in the car is that the trunk light's on. They wanted to charge me around $200 to fix it! HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE. more

Unhappy with Broadway VW 1/27/2007

I could never recommend Broadway VW to anyone. Purchased a 2003 Jetta in Sept. Have had nothing but service and major mechanical issues ever since. Pros: Peter in Sales knows his VW ! Location is very convenient. Cons: Service dept has poor follow through. No response on issues from management. more

Broadway is unethical 12/27/2006

Be very careful of this dealership or any for that matter. They are not very honest. Of course, they're nice they want your businesses but ethics is another issue. I was told that they search around for interest rates but they actually only go to a select group. I asked they to go through my credit union and they said they did and lied. It's my own fault, I just want the next person to be careful. Pros: Cars look good Cons: Staff is unethical more

Broadway Volkswagen 11/30/2006

I never felt pressure, never confused, always guided, and very informed. Broadway beat the other two dealerships (Sonnen, Dirito) price by $12.00 a month, same terms. It always surprises me how much people complain abut feeling ripped off when it come to buying a car, if your informed about your purchase, do a little research yourself, & STOP being a know it all jerk consumer, the process of buying a car is what it should be, fun and exciting. Im a long time VW owner, this is my 4th VW over 13 years, my second purchase with Broadway. I service my VW's at this location as well, I don't have any issues or problems to report. It a great place folks, just remember when people are mad, they rant all over, when there happy, you may never hear about it... for every complaint on here, there's hundreds of happy customers too, this dealer has been around for awhile, even when others seem to be closing, there's a reason for that. Thanks Broadway Volkswagen! more

Broadway Volkswagen Is off the charts 11/30/2006

I bought my Toureg from these guys and had fun in the process. This was like no other car buying experience and I recommend it. In fact my daughter loved my zippy Toureg so much I went with her to see if she can purchase one as well. Brady Gibson, the Sales Manager, showed her a TDI Toureg. So this zippy SUV is great on gas, and stocked full of luxury. We has no idea this type of Toureg was available and thanks to Brady we know as much about it as the man who designed it! We are both very pleased! One other rant, I went in to buy some gadgets for my daughter and I, and Mr. Gibson saw me and noticed me right away.He introduced me to the parts manager and showed me which gadgets work best for me. In this day in age it's hard to find such wounderful customer service, so Broadway Volkswagen is worth my time to write this review. Pros: Fun staff, unbeatable service Cons: that I bought a car from anyone else in the past more

As a woman, I would recommend this dealership 10/18/2006

I've always been a little nervous about going into a car dealership to buy a car. In the past I haven't always been treated well by car salespeople. I typically get your basic "woman car buyer treatment". You know, they talk about the color, and how pretty the car is, ect. It's like they don't take me seriously or something. Well, I'm pleased to say that that was not the case at Broadway Volkswagen. Not only was I treated with respect, I was shown all the mechanical, and safety benefits of the Jetta I was looking to buy. They really took their time to educate me on the car I was interested in. What's more, when it came to making a deal, they negotiated the price to my satisfaction and got me the terms I was looking for. I had a great car buying experience at Broadway Volkswagen. I would suggest you check them out. more

Never Happier with a car salesperson 10/18/2006

I was lucky enough on a recent visit of this dealership to meet Steve Louis. I found him to be very repectful, honest and helpful. I am now the proud owner of a brand new Passat and very happy with the experience Steve provied me with. more

what a great place to buy 9/28/2006

I went in for a jetta and left with a passat!! I had been shopping for jettas at various web sites and was well informed. I also called a couple dealers that seemed to not want to give me a price. Stephen Day and Steve Louis in the int. dept were great. They showed me that after all my research on the jetta (lease) that a passat could be $10.00 less, wow!!! what a deal. I love my Passat now and would recommend broadway vw. PROS: real good people, very well informed salespeople CONS: oakland more

best customer service at a car dealer 9/10/2006

You would expect to read bad reviews for car dealers, but not this one. Great people, great service!! I went in with some credit issues and was treated with respect and courtesy. The sales people and service were four season quality. Pros: customer service Cons: not a very nice building but a good place to buy! more

Steve Louis is a great guy to buy a car from 8/24/2006

I have not always been impressed with car salespeople when buying cars... until I met Steve Louis at Broadway Volkswagen in Oakland. Steve is a true professional. Not only did Steve navigate me painlessly through my 2005 Jetta purchase, I also found him to be a true pleasure to work with. Steve is also has a wealth of information on cars in general, and was able to get me top dollar for my trade in. Even the financing was easy. Steve was able to find an interest rate that was better than I was able to secure from my own credit union. I would highly recommend seeing Steve Louis (there are two Steve's at this dealership - make sure you get Steve Louis) if you are in the market for a VW. As an aside, I noticed they have a pretty extensive inventory of other cars... like Porsche, Audi, BMW. See 'ya on the road. more
