Very professional dealership. As always I walk into a dealership with the expectation of meeting pushy sales associates that talk circles around me and make me feel like I misled them if I didn't buy a car. I made a few different trips to Oakland Volkswagen and left without buying a car and to my surprise the Salesman did not make me feel guilty for "wasting their time". Due to this, when I was ready and felt like I had taken the appropriate time to research the car I wanted, I returned and was able to pick out the car that I was looking for, for a great price. more

I recently had the pleasure of attending a VW new owners dinner here in Oakland about a month after my purchase and I must say I was impressed. The food was delicious and it was great to meet all of the VW family. Hearing from each department and getting to know the faces was informative and helpful. Of course I'm in love with my car so it doesn't take much to make me happy but it was refreshing to see a dealership do something extra for their customers and make them feel important and cared for. I'm sure in the future the luster of my car will wear off but my impression of Oakland VW will not. Great job! more

This place rules! Seriously. I dealt with Justin, John Wong, and Nick. First ,Nick (the salesman) did a great job at showing me EVERY feature on the Car I wanted.... the last car I leased (at another dealership)they didn't bother showing me anything. I took one of their mini SUVs for a spin and liked it but didn't love it. I asked for something a bit smaller..a GTI. I had some specific things I needed and Justin (Who it seems is their "go to guy" for nearly everything from financial, to "deal building", to finding cars) found one for me and got it to the dealer ship in less than than 30 minutes from Dublin. They weren't rushing me...I was rushing them and they were working with my schedule. Then the Financial advisor, John, took the time to expain how to build up credit (mine was ok but not great) to even higher ranks. He was more knowledgeable than anyone i've ever talked to regarding credit scores, loans, buying vs leasing (just ask him which is better), etc. Seriously, he should work at a fortune 500 company! This review is for the NEW car buying at Oakland VW. I give them highest marks for listening and recognize the fix I was in with another VW dealer and going to work immediately to find the car I wanted. The owner's son, Nick, ended up working all day to find me the vehicle I wanted at an unbelievably low price. He presented all options and went out of his way to make sure I was happy, which after working with a bunch of Bay Area new car dealers, is hard to find around here. I highly recommend this dealership for new car purchase - if you have any problems, get in touch with Nick! more

I understand that buying a new car at a dealership isn't everyone's idea of fun. But I had a really great buying experience at Oakland VW. I bought (leased, actually) a 2011 Jetta Sportwagen. It's an awesome car--I love VWs, from my 1969 Karmann Ghia to my 2002 Golf, so I never really considered anything else. I wanted a new VW, and I live in Oakland, so where else was I gonna go? The salesman I worked with was Jhimbo Espiritu. He is a really, really great guy. He didn't put any pressure on me at all; I was very straight with him, he was straight with me. I recommend that anyone who's looking for a VW stop by and ask for him. (I'm sure the other sales guys are... well, actually, who knows. I didn't talk to the other guys.) The bottom line: I thought it was going to be an annoying process, and it wound up being really great. more

We found the car online, and did a lot of the discussion around price before arriving at the dealership. JD was very knowledgeable about the car, and made us feel right at home. Overall, the trip to the dealership was as relaxing as it can be when one is spending that much money! more

As far as my experience at Volkswagen of Oakland it was as good as an experience as I could have hoped for, and I would say it had everything to do with my sales person Chris Garcia. Chris has a very refreshing style of being 100% professional while not being pushy or coming off like a total "sales" guy. He let me move at my pace and didn't try to pull any old school dealer crap that traditionally makes car buying one of the most unpleasant experiences. I'm betting if more sales people (at any dealership) took a page out of Chris's book there would be a lot more sales! I almost walked away from buying a car from VW Oakland after randomly stumbling upon Yelp while doing research on TDi's. I was shocked by what appeared to be the worst reviews I've ever seen of anything...ever. I don't even use Yelp as a tool but the reviews were so bad it was stunning. My wife was not going to buy a car from VW Oakland after what she saw, but then I called Chris he reassured us not to worry about the reviews that we had his 100% guarantee of the professionalism of the dealership and he would standby personally to be sure everything worked out. Which it did, and it was a pleasure and Chris is clearly the reason for it. With his skills I'm sure he won't stay on the floor long but what an asset he will be for your company more
