Where's the love 3/17/2008

We went here on a recommendation. We were told the owner/ manager can be rude , so beware.\r \r WOW!! We were disappointed by the overall experience at Virgilio's. We ordered a pepperoni pizza. It was nothing special for the metro area. I would say it?s about the same as Anthony?s, but a little crispier. I?m not sure we met the manager, but saw a guy who looked angry at the world. He asked if everything was ok?. He did this without a fake smile, or a ?thanks for coming in.? I really felt he could have cared less. Maybe he was having a bad day. Oh, well I?ll take MY money elsewhere. more

Loved the Cheese and Meatball Pizza 3/17/2008

I went to King Super's and asked the clerk where i could get some cheap eats. They recommended Virgilio's. It was 12:30 PM the place was mopped. I was not disappointed the pizza was a 10 out of 10.\r \r more

Great Sausage Pizza - Great Knotts 3/16/2008

I have been looking for great NY Pizza for years in Denver- Virgilio's is the place. I met the owner who was very knowledgeable and very ""PROUD"" of his restaurant. The music and staff was great. I had a great house salad, suasage pizza, and the garlic knotts. Yummy, Yummy. \r \r ONLY A REAL ITALIAN UNDERSTANDS HOW TO MAKE A NY STYLE PIZZA.\r \r I highly recommend Virgilio's. Good knots 3/14/2008

I've been here a few times. Thought the slice was about average. I'd come again, but would not wait. \r \r I was reading johhnnnnnnee2steps review. This was the best part. I ""know Virgilio well and as we were talking about his recent award in 5280 magazine."" Nice plug. What is more important. the awards, or your customers opinions? \r \r If you ignor the customers they will go someplace else. Then your ""recent award in 5280 magazine"" will be worth about as much as the paper it's written on. more

We had a good dinner. 3/10/2008

Enjoyed the pizza. There was a good blend between the sauce, toppings and cheese. The service was good, but we felt rushed. No big deal. The place was busy. \r \r Just one thing though. I thought there were alot of reviews for this small resturant. I started checking around. I'll give just on example. Did you know Bobby Flay's Bar American has only 53? He is on the Food Network and is the host of a few of thier shows. Virgilio's on the other hand has 133+ and counting. The food is good (I go when I can), but the rate of reviws is out of line with the norm. I don't know maybe he'll get a television show too. :) Cons: Small more

The sauces used on my slices were perfect and knots are the best?.I didn?t think they were greasy, or over-cooked. However, some could think so... It?s a matter of THEIR opinion. And the last time I checked it was the paying CUSTOMER who?s opinions counted? johhnnnnnnee2steps, I was reading your last review. I?m not ?a disgruntled ex employee or a pizza owner.? Dont believe the reviews, try it yourself 3/9/2008

It?s quite funny to read these reviews. I know Virgilio well and as we were talking about his recent award in 5280 magazine. He mentioned that there was someone who was posting negative reviews on this site and kept saying the same thing. So I started reading the reviews in the last month. Pretty funny not to be able to see that someone is trying to purposely write bogus reviews. Let?s see what this creative writer posts every day. Greasy seems like this persons favorite word. I hope you really don?t think that this is really going to affect Virgilio?s business. This place is always busy and at times super packed. Virgilio?s puts out a quality product and Virgilio and his staff are awesome. You constantly use hype is your reviews also. I suggest you visit there web site and see the awards of hype. 2 year winner of this site Citysearch, Top of the Rocky, Aolcityguide, 5280 Best Restaurant. I guess there are all hype. I guess you?re a disgruntled ex employee or a pizza owner who is hurting or just jealous. Virgilio?s is a success story of hard working people who care about producing the best quality. Don?t believe any of these reviews, good or bad. Try it for yourself and will find out why Virgilio?s has won so many awards. I eat there 3 times a week and have never been mistreated. I feel lucky to be able to talk to the owner when eat there. How many places just have kids running the show? Not here the core staff has been there from the beginning. Average!!! That's just it. 3/8/2008

I read some of the recent reviews. Some of them were good, some average and some looked planted. We went on this evening not having any expectations. When we arrived I think we met the owner. He was not very friendly. We got the feeling that WE should be honored to be in his restaurant. He came off very RUDE. We then ordered a pie. First I thought it was a little pricy. I have read some other reviews about the quality of the food. We thought the knots were under-cooked and the pizza was somewhat greasy. I don?t think we will return and were disappointed by the overall experience. Cons: Not that good. more

I went here with some friends on a Thursday night. I was not thrilled. The pizza wasn?t great. It was cool and a bit greasy. I will be writing 5280, AOL and the Westword about our displeasure. However, I did enjoy the make-up of the place?.But WILL NOT return for the food. more

Loved This Place.. Can get busy, 3/8/2008

II wanted to try Virgilio?s during restaurant week but never made it. We finally tried is last night after reading this month?s 5280 magazine calling Virgilio?s of Denver?s top 20 restaurants under $30. We tried the fresh hot mozzarella as they suggested?. OMG amazing. The spinach pinwheels and knots were great as was the Pizza Margerita. The owner hooked us up on some great wine and our night was complete. This place is small and busy. We had to 45 min on Friday night. The service was great and the Italian opera was a nice touch. I love the atmosphere and the neighborhood feel. We will be back. The pizza was average..I then started looking at other Denver area pizza restaurants. There is a problem. How come other places that have been around for years do not have the same amount of reviews.,,, I think something strange is going on. The wine list was nice, but the food was not out of this world. more

Don?t believe the hype. The pie was nothing to write back to New Jersey about. I can not believe some of theses reviews. It saddens us that Denver is in such a need of a great New York style pizza parlor, that they think this is it. WOW!!! Buy a cheap ticket to the Island and enjoy the pie. more

Best sob story in the metro area! 3/2/2008

\r We went here a few days ago. It was nothing out of the ordinary. The slices were pricy and somewhat greasy. During our visit it got old hearing the owner talk about how expensive things were. We did not need to hear him tell others his song and dance. I think his gripes should be KEPT behind closed doors, not to the PAYING customer!\r \r more

Critique the food 2/28/2008

I am a patron of Virgilio's and other Denver pizzerias, I enjoy the food and the wine at Virgilio's, and yes its chaotic on busy nights, a sign I believe that the food/wine is worthy of patronage. Normally I dont pay attention to negative reviews especially if they are of a personal nature, the reviews I've read lately appear to me as character assasination of the hardworking staff and owner. I have not experienced greasy pizza, overpriced products, poor/negligent service or rudeness from the staff. If I did I would take my complaint to the proprietor and my business elsewhere. One should remember this website is for patrons to voice their opinion on the food, good or bad, not throw rocks at people. Pros: menu offers variety of choices Cons: small more
