Best

We went to Virgilio’s with another couple for their New Year’s Eve winner pairing dinner. I have been to a few wine dinners but this was by far the best. We started with a aperi...

Worst

Service is not very well trained and seemed hurried at times. The food is on the average side, but WAY over priced. Might be worth trying again on a slow night, but I am not...

Artful Ingredients 7/25/2006

This place is straight-up gourmet. You can taste the oregano in the sauce, the mozzarella is the brine-soaked kind rather than the pre-shredded, and every ingredient seems to have some extra flavor. The toppings even seemed arranged with an artful eye. Pros: Busy place because its so good Cons: Busy place because its so good! more

Best Pizza Since The East Coast 7/16/2006

I'm an East Coast girl and I love pizza. It tough to find a good slice in Denver. But I don't need to look anymore... Virgilio's is the best I've had during my 8 years in Denver! Nice people, the waitress was great, the owner checked on us and the chef was always laughing and talking to the customers. You must try the IL Greco pizza and Garlic Knots!! WOW!! The Verde Salad was outstanding also.\r \r Pros: value, super clean store & bathrooms, pizza Cons: one location, outdoor patio more

best pizza in denver 7/13/2006

This is the best pizza that will ever pass your lips! I honestly have never had anything like the magarita pizza....it's lite and perfect when you're not in a heavy meat mode. Especially the crust...crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I could make a meal of just the magarita pizza crust. The salads are out of this world, too. all ingredients are fresh fresh fresh...the cheeses ..unbelivable! And all the vegetables ..one of the salads has like 13 different lettuces. The place is Immaculate..my pet peeve is a dirty restuarant.. this place sparkles...as do the bathrooms (at least the ladies..I have to take my husbands word on the men's). I always say if they keep the restrooms clean you can pretty much be sure the kitchen is clean. Service is quick and courteous...the owner most likely will come to your table just to be sure you're having a great experience. Everything is freshly made...you can tell. The cheese is not shredded till you order it. With all the pizza joints within 5 minutes of our house we drive 30 minutes to go to Virgilios just because it's so spectacular, We keep going back and trying different things because we just don't think everything could be so good. My husband has had the meatball sandwich, meatlovers pizza, spaghetti and meatballs, calzone and all has been great. Oh, do not forget the garlic knotts!!! They melt in your mouth!!! I've never had anything like them before! You can't do better than Virgilio's!! Pros: Best Italin food I've ever had at excellent prices, quick service with a smile, owner there everytime we've been there Cons: It's almost 30 minutes from our house (but worth the drive!!) more

Best pizza anywhere 7/11/2006

Frankly, I'm stunned that pizza so consistently good is so reasonably priced. And the garlic knots dipped in marinara. Addicting. Thank you. Pros: Pizza, garlic knots Cons: I overate! more

Great Pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 7/10/2006

You gotta try this place. Pros: everything Cons: nada more

Best Pizza 7/10/2006

I'm from California and my Fiance and I love independant restraunts. We found Virgilio's and no need to look any further for our Pizza Parlor. The service was friendly and fast. Everthing from visiting with Virgilio, our waitress, and even the cooks was inviting and you felt welcomed and appreciated. The pizza is fantastic! We had a pizza with half combo and half margherita, DELICOUS! Salad and Garlic Knots were great too.\r \r Forge the chains, they have reasonable prices, great food, and personable people workking there.\r \r Enjoy! more

Seattle loves Virgilio's 7/10/2006

The four of us were looking for pasta and pizza in the trendy Belmar area. This small and friendly place offers al dente pasta with a variety of sides and sauces. I like good pasta, so I really liked this place. Nothing fancy or obscure about the cooking. Wait staff very efficient and friendly, and the owner is keeping his eye on things. The owner, Virgilio is an actual transplant of Italy. And the menu and ingredients show it. Was showing friends from Seattle around. We are glad we popped in. \r Pros: Pasta, sauces more

Italy wins! 7/8/2006

Was at V's to pick up a to-go pizza. Saw the game (Italy) was on in HD. Stayed and watched the game there. Ate my pizza there. And ended up ordering the baked ziti as well. What an excellent day. Perfect pie, perfect game. It was fun. Thanks Virgilio. Pros: HD more

The best pizza EVER! Virgilio's is the best! FORZA ITALIA! 7/8/2006

Bella Italia Tours of Lakewood and friends enjoyed a fantastico afternoon watching the World Cup Finals between France and Italy at Virgilio's. Pizza, wine, excellent service, and cannoli. Molto buono! We enjoyed every minute of it! Mille Grazie Virgilio! more

Do what Mama says 7/3/2006

Oh, Jesus, what a man can do out of love! ... my mother always told me so: ""Remember, Gennarì - choose cattle and wife from your own village!"" ... holy words! Not that I would complain about my wife, who's a good woman and I really love her. But I could go back in time, with my mother's blessing, I would marry Virgilio just for the Pizza. Even though he's not from my village. \r Thats how good this pizza is. Pay attention! Pros: everything Cons: not from my village more

350 for 7 minutes 7/3/2006

Go to Virgilio's for the best traditional pizza in the city: the pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions are of supreme quality. But what makes this pizza exceptional: other than the pepperoni, are the ingredients are finely diced; the thin crust is a masterpiece, and the pizza sauce is about as good as it gets. While waiting, try an order of garlic-inspired knots. I did, and they were excellent. But be careful! You will want to finish off the entire basket, so make sure to leave room for your pizza. Also, the leftover pizza and knots I was able to reheat in the oven. 350 for about 7 minutes, came out crispy and good the second time around. \r I give this pizza a 10. Pros: Knots more

From Naples 7/3/2006

Naples, Italy, is where I was born. Virgilio's served me a savory hand-tossed pie prepared according to the standards of the Verace Pizza Napoletana (True Neapolitan Pizza). My recommendation? Try the pizza margherita. I cannot do the chef justice by a desription with mere words. You must smell it cooking, and see it artfully presented before you in order to appreciate it fully. \r This quaint Lakewood eatery is decorated with art that evokes a sense of southern Italy. I felt right at home. \r Now, combine all of these gifts of flavors and aromas with a traditional Italian opera playing in the background complimenting the sound of happy diners. \r When you see a happy Italian girl sitting in the back corner booth enjoying her meal, say hi. Pros: Its the cheese more

A Pizza Expert Says............ 7/3/2006

Oh my. I cannot begin to express how good this pizza was. The cheese, the crust, the toppings, sauce, all of it worked so well. The toppings complemented the sauce which complemented the crust. It was a very smooth pizza. I think that everything worked very well together. Nothing was over powering at all in it, just an excellent well rounded pizza. Easily the best Ive had in Denver yet.\r Next time I will try the meatballs. I hear they are excellent as well. Pros: Crust, sauce, cheese Cons: None more

Great slice 7/3/2006

Walked in off the street hungry, left extremely satisfied and very full. My meal was ready in no time. And the prices were reasonable! Excellent food. Piping hot. more

Bring a friend 7/2/2006

Don't go here by yourself. That would be selfish. Bring a buddy and split a pie. You won't regret it. Had the meatball sub. Hot, cheesy, marinara, and the meatballs! The meatballs were outstanding. Also had a cheese pizza. For such a simple pie, it exploded with flavor. Fresh ingredients..........but seriously, try the meatballs. more

Meet me at V's!!!!! 7/2/2006

Had a great time. Had great food. Had excellent service. I will be back, and will highly recommend this establishment. I am looking forward to trying the entire menu. I had the ravioli, and meatballs. Superb. Especially the meatballs. more

WOW - Best NY-style slice in the Denver area 7/2/2006

Been there twice - 1st time i just got a slice and thought to myself that this is better than Anthony's. Second time I went I got a calzone. Holy smokes was it the best calzone i've ever had. Filled with mozzarella and ricotta, the crust was super thin and crispy, just like the slices. All of my NY and NJ buddies are going to know about this place. more

More then just Great Pizza!! 6/29/2006

First, Virgilio's is the best pizza around. Each pie is handmade to order with the freshest and finest ingredients. Where do I start. Been there 15 times now. Besides the pizza, the verde salad with the homemade balsamic is to die for. The spinach pinwheels are pure passion food. The garlic knots are addicting. The stromboli is outstanding. The calzones are best I have ever had. There homemade sauce is like mama's. No doubt a true find in lakewood. Pros: best pizza, nice place, nice people Cons: one location more

Finally...Great pizza in Lakewood 6/28/2006

This place has killer pie. Thank you. It has been a long time coming to have a quality pizza place in Lakewood. The sandwiches are pretty good too. Pros: Great pizza, sandwiches and service more

The lunch truly is special 6/28/2006

Busy. Went in for lunch. Had the special. It was excellent. But most importantly it was fast. Spent less than if I went to fast-food, but managed to have a healthy lunch. Pros: Daily lunch specials more
