The best quality job ever. I just had my Lamborghini 2007 bumper upgraded to the newer style and they did a fantastic job customizing it to fit like the original and matching the ...

DO NOT GO HERE! 9/2/2008

I had some minor damage to the rear bumper of my car. Since it was not my fault, I figured I would have it repaired. I was told that my car would be finished within 4 business days. After many phone calls and frustrated pleas to get my car back I finally got it back AFTER 1 MONTH!! 1 MONTH FOR A MINOR REPAIR!! Not only was I extremely disappointed in the length of time it took for such a minor fix, I felt that the people who worked there were used to giving their customers the run around. NEVER GO TO STERLING COLLISION! more

HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE 5/23/2008

I brought in my BMW 5 Series to Sterling Collision Center on the recommendation of the dealership that I had bought my vehicle from. From the get-go they told me that it would take them at least 3 months to repair the rear end of my car, which seemed RIDICULOUS... But since it was recommended by the dealership, I thought I would give them a try.. WRONG CHOICE!!!! Throughout the duration of the repair, no one ever gave me a courtesy call to give me status on my car. I always had to call them to figure out what was going on and that is if they were ever there to answer my calls. I left numerous messages and they were only returned when I threatened to file a complaint to whomever I needed to.\r \r After being in customer service for over 15 years, I would never expect this kind of service from a shop that is highly recommended by a BMW dealership. I'm appalled at the way this situation was handled and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND this place to anyone who wants their car to be fixed in a timely more

Great service 3/7/2008

Sterling did an excellent job on my Porsche both times I had to take it in. They were highly professional, very diligent, fixed the car flawlessly and even got it back to me ahead of time. I highly recommend Sterling and would not take my car anywhere else. Pros: customer service more

Great customer service 9/9/2007

I did my due diligence before taking my car Sterling body shop in Tustin, even though my insurance company asked me to go there. I had a choice of 3 body shops that my insurance company gave me. I was impressed with their clean lobby and building. My advisor (Sal) showed me some of the cars that they were working on and I could not believe how many BMWs there was in there, ;) I fell in love with a red lamborghini they had in there, too bad I can't afford one YET. I hope I dont have to go back to a body shop again but if I do, I'll use Sterling. My car looks great and I am happy with the customer service. Pros: Clean lobby and professional staff Cons: none more

Excellent repairs and customer service but pricy. 8/29/2007

My commendation to Ray & Cameron at Sterling. These guys did a great job on my 2006 Porsche Cabriolet. I paid more than I wanted to but I made sure they did a great job on the car and earned their paycheck. Pros: Lots of Porsches & high end cars in their parking Cons: None more

A pretty bad experience overall 5/2/2007

This was a pretty horrible experience. My car got a small dent in the rear quarter panel. Nothing big. Sterling was recommended by my insurance agency. To minimize the time we were withouout a car my wife took it in for an evaluation and had them order the parts before we delivered the car for repairs. Right away I knew they were padding their timeline when they said it would be two weeks for the actual repair (I have some familiarity with type of work and estimated it generously to be about 20 manhours of work). Pros: Most of the staff was friendly, the final repair was good (but only after I complained) and they cleaned my car nicely Cons: Constant unkept promises: even simply returning a phone call; tried to pass off a bad repair; double original well-padded timeline more

Right away I knew they were padding their timeline when they said it would be two weeks for the actual repair (I have some familiarity with type of work and estimated it generously to be about 20 manhours of work). Still, rather than start over, we went forward. Immediately, the lack of returning phone calls started. After nearly three weeks of getting no information, I showed up in their lobby so they would have to speak to me. The manager and I looked at the car and it still wasn't close to done. He explained how they do such superb quality that it just takes longer. I was not impressed with this answer and after much discussion they agreed to provide me with a rental car. About 4 days later I got a call that my car was ready. I showed up and it was immediately obvious that the repair was very poorly done. The various seams were not close to be even (very tight in places and loose in others) and the quarter panel wasn't flush with the lower panel. I'm not picky but it was an obvious bad repair. The explanantion to me was that they had to first try aftermarket parts and the part just didn't fit well (then why call me and tell me the car is ready). They admitted it was a bad repair but had apparently been hoping I wouldn't notice or wouldn't say anything. In the end, we got the car back after more than 4 weeks and about ten unreturned phone calls and four trips to the repair shop. To boot, they lost my owner's manual when they used it to put back in the radio theft code. Official insurance estimate for the work: 16 manhours!!! Even 1 man working just 4 hours a day should have the work done in 4 days. They took more than 4 weeks..... Pros: Most of the staff was friendly, the final repair was good (but only after I complained) and they cleaned my car nicely Cons: Constant unkept promises: even simply returning a phone call; tried to pass off a bad repair; double original well-padded timeline more

Best Porsche body shop in O.C 2/15/2007

I was referred to Sterling body shop by my Porsche dealer in Newport. I called and asked several questions about how they would repair my car, what type of warranty they would provide, customer service, length of time in business, etc. I drove to their shop in Tustin and saw several Porsches in their parking lot. One of their service advisors gave me a tour of the shop and showed me more Porsches under repair. I was convinced that they had the experience and knowledge to work on my car. I called my insurance agent from their office and made arrangements for the adjuster to inspect my car at their shop. Even though I had some problems with my insurance adjuster paying for all of the repairs, however I was completely satisfied with the customer service and repairs at Sterling body shop. I will use these guys again, if I need body work. Pros: Large shop, clean front office, easy access from freeway Cons: none more

Repeat Customer 2/14/2007

As a repeat customer at Sterling BMW and Sterling Collision, I have had good experience both at the service dept of the dealership and their body shop. My 540I was at the body shop for almost 2 months getting the front end replaced. I was told it would take about 8-10 weeks for the total repairs (final bill of $19,430, thank goodness Insurance company picked up the tab) and it took them that long to repair the car. I visited the shop on several occassions to make sure they were working on my car. I was treated with respect and am thankfull to their manager for his professionalism everytime I went to look at my car. They detailed my car when I picked it up, it looked almost as good as the day that I got it from the dealership. Black is not an easy color to hide any mistakes and I tried very hard to find some flaws in the paint but was not able to tell what part of the car was not painted. I am very satisfied with the repairs. I hope I never have to go to another body shop again....... enough accidents for me for the rest of the year 07,08 and 09. Pros: Very modern & clean facility, I was impressed to see a body shop this nice. Cons: Busy shop, too many wrecked cars more

Busy & expensive, but worth the wait 1/22/2007

WOW, I am surprised to see how mad you are. I admit that they are busy but they were fair and upfront with me. they told me it will take 2 months to fix my baby and they took 2 MONTHS to fix it. after $18340.00 and 2 months in the rental car, I GOT MY BABY back a few days ago. I am happy as a clam and will recommend the boys (as I got used to calling them) to everyone that I know. I suggest you visit their shop and talk to their manager before making your decision based on what happened to these guys. more

Avoid at all costs! 8/4/2006

By far the worst experience I have ever encountered with a business and/or body shop. I thought I was making a smart decision by taking my Audi to a body shop that specialized in repairing Audis & Porsches, not to mention it had been referred to me by an Audi dealership in the area; little did I realize this decision would turn out to be an enormous mistake. A repair that should have taken, at most one month, turned into four. I would call the shop constantly to see how my car was coming along; they never once called me of their own accord to update me, and could never give me a time frame of completion. Once I started to encounter problems and reported them to my insurance company, my insurance co. informed me that they had numerous records of this particular shop falsifying repair work. When I went into the rental car business next to Sterling over a month after dropping off my car, several of the employees began telling me of all the irate customers they had seen come out of Sterling. One girl said, ""I feel so bad for people when they come here to rent a car after taking their own to Sterling, they are not going to get their vehicle back for a long time."" Sterling Collision came up with every excuse in the book as to why my car was not complete months later. It was only after I had an attorney contact Sterling that my car was miraculously finished. But Sterling still insisted on payment of an unreasonable amount from my insurance company and would not release my vehicle. I filed a report with the BBBureau along with the Bureau of Automotive Repair. A quick call from the BBBureau to the shop was all it took for my car to suddenly become available for pickup and the amount my insurance co. was willing to pay, become acceptable. I implore you, take your car anywhere else! more
