About 2 months ago, I had a cut and color scheduled at my regular place. II slogged through traffic, across town - looped around looking for parkiing. By the time I peeled my back off my car seat, I was hot, sweaty, mad at every other driver on the road and not even in the mood for a schwank environment - but I needed a cut - I had waitied until the last minute.. more

Bobby, a stylist at Sit Still Salon in Venice! 8/11/2007

I highly recommend this salon! Bobby is my stylist and he has never let me down! I now refuse to go to anyone else! I love the way my hair looks and it's all because of him! He is great with coloring, cutting, and styling! I get so many compliments on my hair now and I love it!!! Bobby at Sit Still Salon in Venice rocks! I've never written a review on a salon, let alone a stylist before, but Bobby's done such a great job that he deserves recognition... Go visit him if you want a confident stylist who can take you from conservative to rock star or back again, or if you really just need a professional cut and/ color.He really cares about his clients and takes the time to make sure you are completely satisfied with the results. I've received so many compliments on my hair after visiting him---quite a few of my friends and even clients have gone as first-timers and then back again! Keep it up! more

""One Great Salon"" doesn't even begin to cover it 7/17/2007

I am generally not a repeat customer at salons because I am frequently disappointed in the results. I just made my 2nd trip to Sit Still and am just as happy as I was the first time. Everyone there is friendly and helpful. Within a minute or two of my arrival, Mandee was out to greet me and ready to get started. The first time I went she put some gorgeous red and blond highlights and gave me this fabulous cut that makes the most of my curly hair without being hard to maintain. I went back for a touch up and a trim and Mandee whipped a notecard with my color info on it and remembered exactly what I needed.\r \r When I asked her to up the ratio of red to blond, she not only listened to me (in my experience, many hairdressers think they know best and rarely listen to what I want) but told me what she was doing as she added the color to my hair. Mandee is so charming and chatty that the time just flew by and before I knew it I had gorgeous hair again.\r \r I've finally found a salon and a hairdresser I love, if I ever leave LA I may pack Mandee up and take her with me!\r \r Go to Sit Still, you will not be disappointed! All the signs point to Sit Still. Yesterday was my second time going there for a haircut and I am totally pleased with the results (as I was the first time). I didn't bother writing a review the first time, but I feel that this place deserves its praise and it looks like most of the reviews are from women, so I thought I'd shed light on a male's perspective. The initial reasons why I chose Sit Still were not only the good reviews here, but also the fact that every bad review had a response from the salon. That told me that they really do care about their customers and reputation. \r \r I went in around 11:30AM for a walk-in cut but they were busy and scheduled me for a 2:00 appointment. Not wanting to waste my meter time, I took a stroll down Main Street to grab some lunch. I passed by two or three other hair salons that were dead empty. This told me that Sit Still must be a good salon if everyone goes there instead of the places a few blocks away. When I came back at 2, Jennifer took me and asked me what I wanted done. Not really being into fashion or what's hip, I explained to her what I had in mind but asked for her expert opinion. During the cut she was very friendly and we had a nice conversation. I only wish I was a better conversationalist, for her sake. Afterwards I was 100% pleased with what she did with my pre-existing mop. She didn't stop there either, but gave me advice on what I should let grow out, how I should manage certain areas, and what products I should switch to. She was respectful and not aggressive when pushing the products sold in the salon either. \r \r From now on I will make appointments with Jennifer, however I from what I gather through the reviews,replies, and my own experience, Sit Still really focuses on providing a well trained, very personable staff, so I'm sure you'll be happy with whomever. \r \r Thanks Jennifer!\r ~Jonathan Pros: Pretty much everything Cons: Parking more

Thank Mandee!!! 7/15/2007

After getting my aura read for the first time (an act fueled by a mixture of boredom and curiosity), I went to Sit Still. Immediately upon entering, Mandee welcomed me with open arms. I pulled a few magazines only to end up not even reading them; I found myself entertained by the various interactions between the stylists and their clients. Everyone within this little community appeared to get along great, and I have no doubt that a majority of their clients faithfully return on a repeated basis. When it was my turn to sit still with Mandee, I found myself impressed by her friendly and engaging personality. We talked about many things from my aura reading to when you love a woman. She also talked a little bit about where she came from; it turns out she?s just a small town girl. This girl also happens to be an amazing hairstylist. Before I knew it, Mandee was finished; I was greatly pleased with the results. I highly recommend making the journey to Sit Still. more

Love, love, love Bobby 7/13/2007

Bobby is fabulous! I've been going to him for years now and wouldn't let anyone else touch my hair. I'll follow him where ever he goes. He's very helpful with new looks and is very considerate about how certain cuts will go with the shape of your face. He does not force products on you, but is good at suggesting the best product for your hair type. Did I mention that he's fabulous?! Pros: Great haircut everytime! Cons: NONE WHATSOEVER! more

Mel's Great 7/13/2007

I had been using the same hairdresser for 7 years and unfortunately he moved his family up north. As you can imagine, I was desperate for someone new. I met Mel on a whim just walking by the shop and asked if she was good with cutting short hair. That was about 8 months ago; I""ve been going to her ever since. She cuts my hair, colors and highlights it. I just love it and I love her. She's always got a great attitude and is so pleasant to be around. I also love the atmosphere of the shop and it's got a great location. The parking, as some reviews have commented on, can be difficult (especially this time of year), but I just allow myself enough time to find a spot close by and that seems to work. I would recommend her to anyone, and I have. more

Good Head! 7/13/2007

Amazing scalp and neck massage from Bobby! He really works it at the shampoo bowl. I was so relaxed after that. I jokingly said to him ""even if the haircut isn't that great I'll come back for that massage"" He just laughed and then delivered a Rockin haircut. First time in a long time I don't have to do much to my hair in the morning for it to look great. LOVE the cut. more

Mel does terrific cuts 7/9/2007

Mel at Sit Still is terrific. She's the first hairdresser I've found who would support my growing out my grey. She wouldn't support it for everyone, because she first makes a judgement about what would/wouldn't flatter her client. At any rate, she gave me two fantastic cuts that allowed the color to grow out almost painlessly, and by the third cut it was done and looked great. She is sensitive to what the client wants, she has a good eye for what works, and she does excellent cuts. more

I love what they did! 6/22/2007

I went in feeling frumpy, straight from work. I saw the reviews on city search and booked a few days ago. Anyhow, the first thing is the guy waiting by the desk offers me a beer. Delish. Just what I needed. Then, Kazumi gets in from walking her adorable mini-greyhound. I had to wait a minute, but really, I needed it! Pros: Products, Stylists, Location, Personalized Service. :) Cons: None. more

Amazing hair by Mel!! 6/21/2007

It took me a really long time to find a good hairdresser in LA. Every time I had my hair cut I was always disappointed. This is until I went to Mel at Sit Still! She did an absolutely amazing job on my hair - both cut and color. I am so picky when it comes to my hair, every shade of highlights has to be a certain way to work for me and I was never happy with my cuts before either. Now I go to her all the time - I am so happy I found somebody who does such a great job and I will only go to her - I wouldn't go to anybody else! I would definately recommend her! Not only that, she is a really sweet person and I always have so much fun chatting to her and I feel she really listens to what you want. Mel is the best!! more

I've been searching for the best hair stylist for me for years and years, until I met Kazumi. I'm so settled with her now. With her up-to-date skill and knowledge, Kazumi never fails to get me the best haircut. She knows what she's doing. Kazumi always has very cool hair style herself, and everytime I go there, I ask for the same hair style as hers. Her haircut makes me feel so happy and attractive! Thanks, Kazumi! more

I was referred to Mandee by a friend. My hair has never looked better! She changed my color around and it looks amazing! I have never been able to find a colorist that can get my highlights right at the scalp hints- (they grow out awesome and last longer). If you want beautiful hair color go see Mandee! I have been going to Mel for over 2 years, nobody could ever get my hair to the perfect red that I have always wanted until I started going to Mel. She is a expert with red hair and has a very unique european style. If you have red hair you should definately go to Mel for your color! She is the best! more

IF YOU WANT A GREAT CUT AND COLOR REQUEST MEL!! 5/24/2007

\r I'll be honest, I often dread going to a hair salon to get my hair cut and/or colored. As varied as my requests for cuts have been over the years I still manage to get the same ""safe"" hair cut. Bringing in pictures doesn't usually help either. Coming into SIT STILL brought that same kind of apprehension about spending $ on a haircut that i'm bound to feel sub par about. The hair stylist I happen to get was Mel--this cute and warm welcoming german woman evoked a wave of calmness over me as she smiled and offered a beverage. With no picture with me I proceeded to explain the cut and color I wanted. She understood right away and when she was finished I was astonished at how awesome my hair cut and color was. The next day I decided that as much as i loved my cut I should have requested to cut more b/c my hair grows so fast. I made an appointment and Mel was completely understanding and didn't charge me!
