Jennifer was referred to me by a close friend and Jennifer did a fantastic job with my hair! Prior to coming to her, I had my hair colored at another salon and I wasn?t pleased with the outcome and additionally, I think it damaged my hair. : ( Jennifer acted as a consultant to help me decide the best color for my hair considering the state it was in while also honoring the look and color I was going for. I am so pleased with the results and I will definitely be back! Pros: Jennifer really knows what she is doing! Cons: You have to find metered parking or pay for parking in their structure. more

They saved my hair... 12/15/2007

I went to Sit Still to have my color corrected by Jennifer (another salon, who will remain nameless, wrecked my hair). She was just what I needed! She took her time and didnt rush into anything, She made very sure we were both on the same page as to what I wanted (and she gave suggestions as to what would look good on me). My hair came out looking good and I even got a free treatment that really helped my hair since it had been through alot! Jennifer was a pleasure! more

Peppermint Treatment was Great 12/15/2007

I was walking by and saw the sign for a complimentary peppermint treatment (and a glass of wine), so I thought, why not? My stylist was Mandee and she was so attentive. The treatment made my hair feel extremely healthy and my haircut was so edgy and hip - I am going back to get my color done by her too. I really recommend this place! more

Viki is THE BEST 11/13/2007

Ok, so I recently moved to LA from NY. Back east I had my salon, my stylist, my cut...I was set! So when I moved out here, I was really looking for a salon that felt like home, somewhere chill, where the stylist would take one look at my hair and know exactly what to do. That is what transpired when I happened upon Sit Still, and more specifically, Viki. I walked in and immediately was greeted with a smile. She took me to her chair, and we chatted for a bit about my haircut history...for the first time (even moreso than in NY), I felt like I was really being taken care of...I felt totally at ease with Viki and trusted every snip of her scissors! It was almost as if she got my personality through our initial conversation and was able to translate that into the ""personality"" of my cut! 40 minutes later and I had a cut that I have never had before. It was AWESOME! I am so so happy and have already recommended Viki to all of my friends. Serisously, if you want a cut that looks amazing, a salon experience that is relaxed and comfortable, you MUST go see Viki at Sit Still! Pros: Viki Cons: there's only one Viki more

Hot Balayage by Derek.... not to mention the Guiness 10/26/2007

I've gotten my hair highlighted for years and only truly loved it when I was living in France, where they use the balayage technique. It's a technique where the highlights are brushed onto the hair in various sweeping motions which result in a more natural (and hot) look. It's popular in salons in Europe, but is only starting to pop up in salons here. You can imagine how thrilled I was when my stylist at Sit Still, Derek, told me that he does balayage. I happily sat in the chair as Derek filled my hair with sweeping brushstrokes and layers of plastic wrap, morphing my into one hot mama! I even got to enjoy a complimentary Guiness. If you highlight your hair, I would definitely recommend Derek at Sit Still for Balayage! more

See Mandee 10/9/2007

My hair is very stubborn and difficult to work with...as I can be, but let leave that out of this. The problem with not staying in the same place for long is you run into a lot of people who just aren't able to cut it well. Then there are those places like Sit Still where they really know what they're doing. It's been a week now since Mandee cut my hair, and I still like it. I hope there's a Sit Still at my next place. more

Kazumi! 10/9/2007

It's normally quite difficult for me to, ""settle"" on a stylist. I need good communication, lots of confidence, and a diffinitive style. When I first called in to Sit Still after reading the reviews, I asked for their top stylest (although the general consensus on citysearch was Kazumi, I was curious what the salon would do). The receptionest mentioned that Kazumi was the way to go, but I wouldn't be able to get an appointment for at least a week 'cause she was booked solid. Being as impatient as I am, I booked at another high-end salon and got something that few would call style or anything else for that matter. This is what I get for not being patient. After my atrocity, I called sit-still again (I think the receptionist remembered me...oops) and scheduled an appointment with Kazumi. \r OMG! \r She completely rectified my follicle fumble and gave me one of the best haircuts I've ever had! To boot, I thought ahead (ah-ha) and scheduled my next appointment just so I wouldn't have to wait. I went back to see Kazumi a month later (I could've waited for at least another two weeks with the cut che did, but again, I'm picky) and she actually gave me the best looking haircut I've ever had. I am so happy with this haircut that I have to send the good energy back and write her an FANTASTIC review. Go to Kazumi and get your new style! You will not be dissappointed. Pros: If all the other stylists are as good as Kazumi; then what a salon! Cons: If they're not, then the owner needs to up the par. more

Mandee keeps me coming back for more... 10/3/2007

There are so many salons in this city, but finding one with really edgy and real stylists is rare! If you are going to Sit Still-- it is imperative that you ask for a stylist named Mandee. She is truly a talented hair stylist. She can look at you, your facial structure, and your personal style, and help identify what the right hair style is for you. I really trust her judgement, and have been a repeat customer now for almost a year. If you are looking to trust someone with enhancing your appearance- then Mandee is the way to go!!! more

Mandee is wonderful! 10/3/2007

A friend of mine told me to go see Mandee at sit still. Due to my busy work schedule, I usually get my hair trimmed a few times a year. I went in to see Mandee wanting to change my look from being so plain to more modern. Mandee transformed me, I now have a great cut and color for the first time in my life! Now I go get my hair done every month! I highly recommend Mandee. She is just what you need to feel good about yourself and look good! more

Going from a typical barber shop to Sit Still was real eye opener for me. While I was initially averse to spending more than $20 on a haircut, I am fully converted. The quality cut not only ends up lasting longer; it simply looks better. These folks are pros and in particular, Mel, a meticulous German, is outstanding.\r \r I would challenge any salon to be cooler than Sit Still...they serve complimentary drinks, have a great location and charge fair prices. Jennifer saved my hair 9/26/2007

I just moved to L.A. and needed hair help desperately. The last time I had my hair done, the guy gave me too many, too yellow highlights. My whole head was basically the same icky yellow color with dark roots. I walked into Sit Still and was pleasantly surprised when the girl at the front desk told me they could take me right away. The stylist, Jennifer introduced herself and I was blown away. She oozed good vibes. I felt very comfortable talking to her and I knew instantly I could trust her with my locks. Jennifer recommended doing low lights saying it would make all the difference in the world. It did. I have a totally new look and I love it. Bottom line is she did a great job with my color and cut, it didn't take long and I met my new hairdresser for life. Thanks again JEN. I owe you. more

Vicky made me pretty again 9/26/2007

I hadn't colored my hair in months, and my highlights were really grown out and looking faded. I needed HELP!!! The receptionist at Sit Still hooked me up with Vicky. She really took her time with me and listened to me when I told her what I wanted and what I didn't want. Vicky recommended changing the colors just a little bit and I've got to tell you - I LOVE IT. She was totally right. The addition of this new color brightens up my face and I feel like a new woman. Three cheers for Vicky. She nailed it! I will definitely ask for Vicky next time. She is obviously a talented colorist, AND a really cool chick. Thanks for the color Vicky! more

I wanna live at Sit Still 9/8/2007

I immediately felt at home in this hip, comfy salon. I've been getting my hair cut by Bob for years. He is so incredibly talented, fun and sweet I could not imagine anyone else being ""my guy"". He always makes me feel like a ROCKSTAR! With a great location and reasonable prices, you can't go wrong! Pros: Kick a*s haircut, for a great price. more

I normally don't write reviews online, but I read one about a curly-haired person's bad experience and wanted to give my two cents. I went to Sit Still and saw Jennifer for a cut a few days ago and love my new hair! I have super thick and curly, sometimes unruly long hair and she definitely helped me out. She really listened to what I wanted, unlike some stylists I've been to in the past who seem like they aren't even listening. She also had some great suggestions as far as styling goes. My haircut is great! I love it! I've never had a haircut this good in my life and I will DEFINITELY be going back. I highly recommend Sit Still and especially Jennifer if you have curly hair. Derek is THE RAZOR MASTER!!! 9/6/2007

I'm from Philly. Had trouble with a few places in the beach area. I stumbled upon Sit Still on Main St. They set me up with a guy named Derek. Anyway. Derek was cool and really understood me. I remember how chilled his consultation was compared to other spaziods I have encountered here in LA. No wonder...the kid is from Texas. \r \r The cut he gave me was amazing. He barely touched his scissors. Instead he used some razor thing. Kinda wild since NO ONE ever tried that with my short hair. The results were awesome. I have thick hair that gets puffy even if it's short. But Derek had the razor down. \r \r Second to none... Pros: Awesome price for LA Cons: A little warm, because they were packed... Overall Great Salon! 9/5/2007

I decided to try this place after one of my friends got the most gorgeous highlights from Bobby. The atmosphere was relaxed, I got to drink a beer while I was processing, and my hair didn't get damaged and looked so shiny! Bobby totally know what he was talking about, and really listened to what I wanted. And it wasn't that expensive! The last place I went I paid over 200 dollars and they fried my hair. But yeah, Bobby and all of the stylists are great! Pros: Great location, parking, BEER! more

What a treat Sit Still is... 9/4/2007

I've been to many salons in my day, but none compare to the overall experience I had at Sit Still Salon. When I called, the girl who answered could not have been more helpful. She helped me choose my stylist, gave me directions, and even helped with parking. When I went for my appointment the salon was very cool with a friendly and chill vibe (not to mention I was offered and esspresso and Guinness)! My stylist was proffesional with a creative edge. My hair came out exactly how I wanted it! I left the salon looking and feeling confident. I highly recommend this place to everyone! more

not curly hair experts! 8/29/2007

After reading all the great reviews and seeing the ""Curly Hair Experts"" bit on the front page, I called and asked for an appointment with someone who really knew curly hair and could cut my thick curls. Whoever does the booking should probably be sat down and told that just because the stylist HAS curly hair, doesn't mean they know the first thing about cutting it. I needed help making mine more manageable, but left looking like a roadie for Van Halen. Also I'd just like to point out that even I know you don't cut bangs wet, and I don't have a beautician's license. Thanks for the giant hair that's not cut with my curl pattern and the inch of stubble on my forehead. I'm sure they offer great cuts for those fortunate enough to have straight hair, but the rest of us will have to look elsewhere. more

Ask for Bobby! 8/29/2007

I first started going to Bobby at Sit Still about a year ago and, I have to admit, I really had no idea what a good haircut was or how to style it. I've had my hair cut at Sit Still at least ten times now I've been blown away every time. \r The best part is that if I'm really looking for something new but really am unsure of what I want, Bobby is always excited to do something innovative and creative. I've never been let down and I feel like I have something fresh and different every time. For example, I wanted to try getting a platinum/white look but I have darker hair and have never had any luck getting away from a yellow tone when bleaching. I was completely stunned to see that Bobby was able to actually achieve what I had in mind. My hair is actually white! Definitely ask for Bobby when you go in. You'll get just the hair cut you were looking for and you'll have a great time making a good friend. Pros: Great with color and style cuts more

I've been in California for about a year when I finally found a great place to do my hair, Sit Still. And the best person to have do it. BOBBY!!!! He is the best. I am a pretty indecisive person and usually go in with a just go for it attitude. And every time he gives me the best haircut I've ever had. I've gone from layered highlights, to deep red, to dark brown and the color has always lasted. So if you are ever in the westside, go see Bobby at Sit Still, you won't be disappointed.
