Rating on my first experience at Scissors (I did a second review regarding my second visit at Scissors as well): I first went to Scissors back in February of '09 right before my birthday. I figured because of all the great reviews, something must have been done right at Scissors, so I decided to check it out. I called and was able to make a Saturday appointment on the same day. When I arrived, I swear I was at the wrong place. The first floor of the salon (where hair is cut) is dingy and dirty looking. The place reeks of clutter and dust. The place when you walk in looks more like a gypsy room with random tidbits here and there, which from my memory I believe all the random things are for sale, but I am not sure who would buy any of the random items anyways. \r

Anyways, as I sat down and waited, I wasn't too sure what to think since back in February it was only two stylists and two hair chairs. I was a little confused since I thought this was a hair place, but there was really only one or two people cutting hair, with one hair washing station. I don't know how Scissors obtained so many reviews because I've gone twice and both times, I was able to easily get appointments at the times that I wanted. \r

Anyways when I called, I was told that I would be seen at the time agreed upon. The younger girl approached me and apologized because Simone would be a bit late, that was fine with me. I am always observing my surroundings and analyzing people. I watched Simone seemingly give GREAT service to the lady she was tending to. I thought, ""wow, she is pretty cool, she must know what she is doing, if I get that sort of treatment, this is for sure my salon!"" I waited, and waited. It was probably at least 40 minutes before Simone came over and told me she was ready. I'm not one to really complain so I went along. \r

Simone sat down with me during my initial consult and looked at me and spoke with me for probably two minutes. My consult was definitely not as comprehensive or seemed as important as the lady before me was. From that point on, I knew I was being prejudged, probably because I wouldn't tip well or whatever, but the funny thing is, I usually tip $10-$20 on a normal haircut. But whatever the case, I knew I was not getting the same treatment as the lady before me. \r

Simone didn't give me as much advice on my hair or the style I wanted, what I wanted was a Nicole Richie kind of cut, with emphasis on her bangs. She just kind of said okay, and didn't really say much else. She passed me onto the younger brunette girl to wash my hair. After my hair wash, I probably waited another 15-20 minutes because Simone had to tend to the lady before me again. I felt like I was literally in the salon for HOURS. And all I wanted was a simple hair cut!! It just irritated me that I had an appointment time with her, but I was told to wait, and wait, and wait. \r

While I was waiting after my hair washing for Simone to be ready the girl from the spa upstairs which is part of the salon came down and offered everyone (including clients) popcorn but me. I didn't really want popcorn, but I did not want to not have been asked and left out. I definitely felt isolated and ""not important."" It definitely made me feel like they would only care about your experience if you were a recurring client. \r

Anyways my cut was done okay. My bangs were cut too short and I hated it actually. I'm never one to complain so I told her I liked it but I really really HATED it. I hated it for almost 3 weeks before it grew out again. With my face, if my hair is too short, my face looks fat! That was something I did not want. I hated even more that it was my birthday and I had a terrible haircut when I had friends/family coming in. I was embarrassed. \r
