Review content:
I have frequented Scissors for about seven years now. My husband and I found the salon when we lived in the Fan and now that we have moved out of the city I still go to Scissors. As a woman with thick hair that is very curly it is hard to find a stylist that I trust to work with my hair type. Simone has always listened to what I wanted and given me just that. She never pushed me to make any type of change but will make recommendations from time to time. After some time I did take the chance and decided to have bangs cut. I really was worried how it would turn out with having such curly hair, but she did a brilliant job and I have kept the style for the last few months now. I have also had my hair colored by Simone before and loved it. Simone has also always done a great job of waxing my eyebrows. \r

In my most recent visit to Scissors I talked to Simone about a Keratin hair treatment. I have recently become bored with my hair and figured it would either be a color change or straightening. I have done some research on the treatment, and while expensive, have seen it to be worth it based on my findings. I wanted to talk to Simone about it first before I made any decisions. Simone could have easily scheduled the appointment for the treatment but shared her honest opinion as well as some flattering remarks about my curls. Since I was on the fence regarding this drastic change in the first place, I have decided to hold off and stick with a flat iron of which she recommended a very good one. \r

I have read some of the other reviews regarding prices and I can say that Scissors' prices are on par with that of other high quality salons in the Richmond and Southside area. However, Scissors does offer an eclectic Richmond feel that these salons do not. I also love the White Sands shampoo that Simone recommended. While I have dabbled in purchasing salon grade products in the past, I often doubted their performance was better than a cheaper store brand. I would often skip shampooing in the past because it dried out my hair and caused major frizz. The White Sands moisturizing shampoo leaves my hair super soft with little to no frizz. I also LOVE the White Sands Porosity The Fix spritz. It also keeps the frizz down and makes my hair really shiny. I know I have now risked sounding like a commercial, but when you have hair like mine it is truly awesome to find products that work with your hair like these do. \r

Scissors provides a true Richmond view of a high quality full service salon. \r
