I feel like I need two reviews for this place 2/12/2010

I have been going to Scissors for several years now. I love the location, I love the atmosphere, I love the prices, and I (for the most part) love what happens to my hair in there.\r \r I would seem that I am a die hard for this place. In fact, I would love to be able to say that I am a die hard for this place. However, there are certain aspects of Scissors that literally make me feel as though I have walked into the Twilight Zone.\r \r The first time I ever went to Scissors, I was blown away. I loved the hair cut I got. Simone gave me homemade ice cream that had raspberries in it. I got my makeup done for free. I walked out feeling like I had struck gold. And for $45! Awesome.\r \r However, each ensuing visit has left me with a more and more sour taste in my mouth. I love Melanie and I love that she listens to me, even when I'm being extremely demanding. Simone, on the other hand, seems to have done a complete 180 since my first visit all those years ago. \r \r Approximately one year ago, I was sittin' pretty, getting my hair cut, probably humming something catchy in my head (99 Red Balloons, if I had to guess). Simone is working on a girl who spoke little to no English. For some reason, Simone snapped. She became enfuriated with this girl's HAIR. It was like the hair had a vendetta against it and Simone was determined to put that hair in its place. The girl's face melted into one of pure panic as this fury was unleashed. She tried to tell Simone that she just wanted a trim. She didn't want a major style change. WHAT A MISTAKE. The poor girl may as well have slapped Simone's mother. Simone begins berating the girl about how her hair is nothing but a big, ugly mop and she would have no idea how to just give it a trim since there were so many other deeper issues. The fear on that girl's face was still in place as I quietly paid and got the F out of there.\r \r I have seen Simone treat clients in a truly appalling manner. I have seen her be incredibly passive aggressive. I have seen her snap at her staff. I can understand that running one's own business is stressful, but do clients really need to see that?\r \r All this being said, I will continue to go to Scissors. It's the best salon in Richmond. Just close your eyes and your eyes and hope not to figuratively step on Simone's toes.\r \r Oh, and for the love of God, don't even THINK about bringing a child in there. I thought Simone was literally going to punt a decently well-behaved toddler out the door one time. Pros: Comfortable atmosphere, good location, good result Cons: Overwhelming passive aggressiveness more
