Best

This by far is my favorite place to go to relax or enjoy a fine dinner. I have been constantly going to the Salish for about 2 years now and have never been disappointed. I have b...

Worst

I had the worst 30 dollar breakfast ever at the Salish, and have heard nothing but raves from everyone else. Unlucky, I guess. Pros: beautiful, serene, attentive staff Cons...

Outstanding 10/10/2002

When my husband and I went to eat breakfast at the Salish Lodge we were so pleased! The breakfast was so delicious. It was so nice. We were treated very special and had fast service. Pros: romantic, good food, beautiful area more

Overpriced common fare 10/9/2002

As a native I have been to the Salish lodge on occasion in my life, although it had been a number of years since my last visit I assumed it was worthy of a return. What a big mistake. We took a couple of friends from back east to Sunday breakfast at the lodge in August of 2002. Although the service and ambiance were above average, the food was mediocre at best. There were 4 of us and we each ordered a different dish plus an order of french toast for the entire table to share. It was a real disappointment these people can't cook! All the dishes seemed to be prepared properly; they were just lacking in every aspect with the exception of presentation. Save yourself time and money and eat at your favorite neighborhood spot on the way and go to enjoy the view from the observation area. more

No new tradition to start here! 9/19/2002

On our 1st anniversay we wanted to start a new tradition. Not with the service recieved at the Salish! Seated 10 minutes after arriving promptly for our reservation & handed a wine list, we sat for 15 minutes without any acknowledgement from ANYONE to even say that SOMEONE would be right with us. Finally I flagged the hostess down to see if anyone could take our order. When our wine finally came the waiter was always "just a little late" to refill our glass when needed. Luckily the food was good, Thankyou to the Chefs for that, but service was pretty bad and we decided not to spend anymore money on them and went elsewhere for dessert! No new tradition started here, we will go back to Canlis for all our anniversaries. The Salish is not recommend to anyone wanting a special night! more

Hidden Beauty 9/16/2002

Excellent food served with quiet recommendations and timely service. You couldn't ask for a more romantic view. We have been there several times and will return again. Pros: Food, Service, Reservations Cons: Expensive, Parking not good, Long wait more

Nice, but better experiences elsewhere 9/2/2002

The food was outstanding, but the service a bit standoffish. The views and ambience were great, but for the prices there are places just as good, if not better in the city. more

Unique 8/25/2002

What an amazing discovery; Salish Restaurant is an exceptional suburban delight. Their menu is enticing and the food is of the finest quality and it's all served by an enthousiastic and knowleable staff. I place Salish Restaurant among the very best in the nation. Pros: food quality, staff, wine list more

Great view, but tiny portions 8/24/2002

You can't beat the atmosphere of the Salish Lodge and the food is tasty, but I've always chuckled at how tiny the portions were. I once had an entree that the waiter described as having a "sweet potato biscuit". When it arrived the "biscuit" was actually a sweet potato chip!!! I laughed so hard I almost fell out of my chair, then I remembered that my steak and potato chip cost $40 and I stopped laughing. I'm happy to pay $200 - $300 for two people at the Met when I live it up there, so money isn't problem for me. However, you get rude service and tiny portions for way too much money. It is worth going once, but then go to the Met after that. Pros: ambience, wine selection, food quality Cons: rude service, tiny portions, WAY too expensive more

Beautiful Treat for the Eyes & Palate! 8/23/2002

My husband and I treated ourselves to an overnight getaway at Salish. The accommodations were superb, but the meals far exceeded our expectations...absolutely superb presentation, cuisine, and wait staff. Don't wait for the opportunity for a wonderful experience! Pros: excellent food, beautiful presentatio, excellent wait staff Cons: a bit expensive more

Extravagant yes, warm no 8/22/2002

We hadn't been to the falls since the Snoqualmie Falls Lodge was torn down. We wish we'd just kept the old memories. It looks similar from the outside, but it all ends there. The Japanese stark atmosphere totally lacks warmth, even though the young staff is friendly. The dinner menu looked good, but at $49 for a rib eye steak, we held ourselves to a starter and entree apiece. It still cost us $200 for an okay meal, okay service, and an okay bottle of wine. Guest room was okay. Walking down the hotel hallway, you can hear every word said on the other side of the doors. The spa services were enjoyable - John's hand and foot rejuvenation is truly special. Glad something was. Pros: Nice staff, Some table with views Cons: Over-priced, slow service, uninspired more

Classic, but better 8/21/2002

Elegance, class with a big C, gracious service, and an inpired blend of traditional tastes. A wonderful culinary experience in the most beautiful setting. A research at every level and a whole made of incredible tiny details. Well worth the ride on HWY90 Pros: food, service, surroundings Cons: costly parking more

***** 8/21/2002

This is a great spa to go to when there are more than one person in your party. The setting they make available while you are waiting for your service is very relaxing and spacious. This adds enormously to the experience. more

Best Service Experience 8/19/2002

This was a case of a very expensive meal being worth every penny. The service was so extraordinary that it was hard to tell which was better--the food or the experience of the restaurant itself. One example: when we posed a question about a particular vintner, a dossier was printed out and delivered to our table within minutes. We were amazed at the thoughtful detail that permeated every gesture, to the point that we were actively looking for mistakes. We finally found one--they forgot to include a pen when delivering our check. That's the worst we could say. The perfect end to a perfectly wonderful stay. Pros: Service, Atmosphere, Food Cons: Expensive more

Total treat for the body and the soul 8/16/2002

Following a transcendent body massage, we went to the Lodge restaurant; when you have an urge to splurge this place will make any meal spectacular. We had a window table overlooking the river and the picture perfect sunset over hills and forest. The care we received had such flair. The exquisite food was brought to table by an impeccable service staff. Though it was pricey, this was the highlight of our stay at the historic lodge. Pros: view, service, food Cons: pricey more

Disapointed then Delighted 8/14/2002

I agree with SueZ. I have had a bad experience at the Lodge on a special occasion. It was 2000 Thanksgiving. Hundreds of other people did the same. I was rushed and the food was not to par. Since then, however, I have enjoyed several other breakfasts and dinners at the Lodge and it has been wonderful. Their food and service were superb. I must admit after the first bad experience I called the Salish Lodge and express my disapointment. They have given me a super VIP treatment since. SueZ, maybe you should get in touch with them. Pros: location, food, service Cons: parking, window reservation more

average food but great views 8/12/2002

we went to salish lodge for the first time on mother's day (for brunch). the food was very mediocre, especially for the price, but the service and views were excellent. we were surprised at the poor quality of the food, being that it was mother's day and we were one of the first few parties to be seated for brunch. we would not return for dining, but perhaps for the spa. Pros: great views, attentive service Cons: poor food more

FAR FROM THE REAL WORLD 8/12/2002

THIS QUIET AND WONDERFUL PLACE LOOKS LIKE PARADISE AND HAS FOOD TO MATCH. EVERYTIME WE GO THERE WE PAMPER OURSELVES TO A PRIVATE ROOM. THE SERVICE IS UNRUSHED AND DELICATE. OUR WISHES ARE THEIR ORDER. OUR RECOMMENDATION AS A STRESS RELIEVER. more

Purrrfect Hot Chocolate 8/10/2002

We love the Salish Lodge Farmer's Breakfast and we go there quite frequently. But, the last time we went to the Lodge Restaurant, we had the most enchanting surprise: Hot Chocolate prepared at our table by the restaurant manager. He used a very rare chocolate pot and mixed a totally decadent chocolate with cream, milk and other ingredients. The result was purrrrfect. The best we have ever tried anywhere in Europe or elsewhere. Pros: best hot chololate, farmer's breakfast, service Cons: none more

supertacular 8/8/2002

This place is for people who live to eat. Their set menus provide it all: Artfully prepared appetizers and perfect ingredients impeccably prepared entrees. You get VIP service, an extensive wine list and an exquisite setting. I would be there every day if only I could afford it. I.R. Pros: food, service, setting more
