Emergency tire replacement-on a Saturday! 2/5/2012

My left front tire blew out on Saturday 2-4=12; fortunately in the parking lot of the grocery store just across the street. I limped in, saw that the shop was quite busy, but needed help. I'm sure i could have saved some $ had I been towed elsewhere, but time was short. Not only did they give me a complimentary ride home, the tire was replaced and ready in less than two hours. Your tradition of exemplary service was well carried forward. more

-1998 Jeep Cherokee service Jan 17, 2012 1/19/2012

Work to be done: Oil change and lube, replace battery, steam clean engine, do smog test and registration, check antifreeze. After service problems: Battery was not changed, but I was charged for it anyway. Smog test and the registration were not done. A strong smell of cleaning fluid on the engine remains and it smoked afterward. The mechanic said the antifreeze was only good to 31 degrees. On the last visit to Roy Foster's Automotive the mechanics attempted to replace the radiator hoses. They should have put in the correct temperature of antifreeze at that time. The engine block could have cracked during a cold spell. more

Not sure what to think 1/17/2012

I am a single female. My first encounter was just before Christmas. I took my car in to see what the cost would be to replace the bulb I had already purchased elsewhere. Five minutes later, my headlight was fixed...at no cost(although I did tip the mechanic $10.00)! I had a knocking noise I had endured for months. I felt confident to bring it to Roy's. They put it on a lift and a mechanic took it for a test drive. I got a voice mail the next day saying that it would be $172.00 to fix. I dropped it off on Friday and when I picked it up the next day, I was told that they replaced a part. Unfortunately it wasn't the right part. I was charged the $172.00 and was told that it would be $386.00 to fix the knocking noise. I brought my car back the following week. When I dropped it off, I was told that there was an additional part and it would be $437.00 to repair. What would u think? more

Tremendous Service 12/26/2011

Roy Foster Automotive is the best repair shop I have been to (not just in Reno, but nationwide). I just had my Land Rover in with multiple problems. Technician Mark went above and beyond to diagnose the problem (not always easy with a Rover!) get our family car running great again. These guys are more than capable, but their attitudes and commitment to great customer service make all the difference in the world between them and other shops. We highly recommend Roy Foster's Automotive! more

UNEXPECTED - RATHER DISAPPOINTED 12/24/2011

I brought my Navajo in Oct 27th for a thorough maintenance check including a request to check the bad shimmy I had at around 65mph. When I came in on Dec 22nd for what I thought was nothing more than a starting problem Ken discovers a loose front wheel which apparently was not caught on Oct 27th! Could it have had something to do with the shimmy??? Karl checked the computer and there were no notes made about the shimmy! Included in the $986 bill I just paid were 4 new shocks, (because one had blown out), and a battery. I got no warranty information on either of these. Do the shocks have a lifetime warranty? And the battery - how long should it be good for? You have been servicing my Navajo many, many years and I've always trusted you - this recent experience was not good. more

Best Shop I've Ever Been To 12/7/2011

Roy, Karl, Mike, Ken Lou & co. provide the best service of any shop I have gone to. I am a bit of a car junkie...I like my car to be in top shape. I have visited many auto repair shops over my 30 years of driving and the expertise, customer service and pride in their work is like nothing I have seen anywhere across the country. I recommend Roy Foster's Automotive to everyone. more

Service was great. Was notified on progress, everyone was very courteous and car was ready for pick up when promised, even after I asked for other items to be repaired. Will definatly be back and have already recommended them to others. I am new in town and was lucky to find a reputable repair shop close to home. more

Front whhel bearing on a 1997 RAV4 11/22/2011

Carl could not have been nicer! I had to wait a bit longer than expected but I had a great book, the waiting area is very nice, and I could tell Carl really wanted to get it done sooner. Cars are cars, they take time. My boss had referred me and I knew I could completely trust the work done and the cost. They will definitely be seeing me again! Amy more
