Pushy Pushy Pushy! 5/27/2009

So I went in for a free session with a personal trainer that I had ""won."" I met a girl who was just doing this for her summer job from college. She worked me out for an hour and a half until I was truly exhausted. Then I had to sit and meet with a lady who pushed a membership. She demanded to know when I would be back, or when I would decide about membership. She kep having little side conversations with the trainer about me, while I was sitting there! The child care area looked small and over crowded, and I was told that they don't have to adhere to ratios, like that's a good thing. I will be acalling to say no way this evening. Hopefully, I won't be plagued with follow-up calls. Pros: Lots of machines Cons: Money hungry, uncaring environment more

FALSE ALLEGATIONS 5/21/2009

TODAY I WAS FALSELY ACCUSED OF MAKING OUT WITH ANOTHER MEMBER/(NO LONGER STAFF) IN THE GYM BY THE SO CALLED NEWLY APPOINTED ""MANAGER"" THERE WAS NO PROOF OF THIS BUT WHAT HURTS IS THAT IT WAS FALSE. I AM A MARRIED WOMAN -- I AM OUTRAGED BY THIS ALLEGATION-- AND THE MANAGER TOLD ME I WOULD BE OUT IF THIS HAPPENED AGAIN -- I DIDNT DO ANYTHING TO DESERVE THIS-- BUT THEN HE SAID HE IS SUSPICIOUS ON STUFF THAT GUY IS DOING IN TH GYM BUT HE JUST THOUGHT IF I WAS PART OF ANYTHING!! THIS IS WHAT U GET INTO IF U JOIN THIS GYM. THE MANAGER PUBLICALLY MADE A SEXUAL COMENT TO A WOMEN INFRONT OF ME. WHAT HE DOES IS ALRIGHT AND HE CAN FALSELY ACCUSE AND RUIN A GOOD NAME OF A WOMAN SINCE HE FEELS HE OWNS THE GYM NOW. BEWARE LADIES A BIG BAD WOLF LURKS WHO LIES AND IS VERY DECEITFUL. THE WOMEN IN THAT GYM KNOW TO STAY AWAY FROM HIM BUT IF YOU JOIN U WONT KNOW HIM HE WILL DAZZLE U WITH THE SAME STORY WE ALL HAVE HEARD AND LAUGH ABOUT IN LADIES ROOM. SO DONT JOIN IF YOU KNOW WHATS GOOD FOR YOU OR UR NAME WILL BE RUINED BECAUSE YOU SAID NO TO HIM. Pros: MACHINES Cons: STAFF more

HORRIBLE PLACE TO JOIN BECAUSE OF JD 5/21/2009

This gym is one of the worst places to join. Save ur money and join a decent place. Reason- the staff- as u walk in the staff starts to talk about ur looks, ur weight, ur ethnicity, if ur with this person or that. Its ridiculous. Its a bunch of men (staff) who act like teenagers and its sickening to my stomach. Saying its a ""ladies club"" and placing these types of men doesnt speak much for the company's values or the owner. They have men training the women which is improper then they talk about the women they have just trained. watch urselves ladies. Cons: SO MANY more

Disappointing 3/16/2009

I've been at this gym for almost three years now. I had one of the trainers approach me today and tell me not to stand too close to the cardio room area because the pilates class needed a peaceful workout environment. I was a bit irritated because I was checking out the class to see if I was interested in attending. I was standing OUTSIDE the entry and not anywhere close to disturbing those working out INSIDE the classroom. I guess bcause I didn't move the trainer sent the male (manager?) over. I still didn't move. Seriously, if I'm going to go to a class, I'm going to check it out first. No woman or man is going to tell me I don't have the right to do this!\r \r I love the zumba class with Jane. She is really great. Every class is packed and I really wish the cardio room was bigger, but I deal with it by trying to get there early. I find it disappointing that so many of the girls that come to the class act like high school kids. They act like they ""own"" a particular spot on floor and if you've by chance landed in their area before they are able to get there they try to intimidate you by rude remarks and try to push you out of ""their space"" while you are working out. \r \r Jesh, I just want to go and have a good workout. I go to get rid of stress, not be stressed out by trainers who won't let me check out a class or silly girls acting like they own a piece of the place. I'm sure they paid as much for their spot as I did. \r \r I don't plan on renewing my contract when it is over. Too bad because my month to month rate will be lower but I would rather spend a few extra dollars to work out with ADULTS who like to destress rather than leave there wondering why I even bothered! Pros: Zumba Class Cons: Just not my kind of gym more

WES should read this. 2/1/2009

I'm pasting my response here. I wrote this in response to a complaint about the man working in the gym at Kettering.\r \r I agree he does not need to be there. He will however be there for the duration. I was told he's the new manager. He was the original owner and is now back. I've been told by trainers that the Muslim women aren't able to work out there now because he's there. I don't like how he only pays attention to Tiffany the one trainer and he only helps out the very thin and attractive women on the floor. He's almost flirty. I find it offensive. It's VERY obvious that he has his preferences. His wife should open her eyes. If he is going to be there, the best thing he could do for the place, since he wants to ""fix things up"" is to fire Sharon and her daughter for one. They are pushy, gossip queens. Secondly, get rid of the 50 year old with the long blonde hair and horrible tan at the front desk. She's just unfriendly. There is also a young girl who works in the daycare who looks shady. I'm not sure what it is. I've seen her once with a black eye, the other times she looks hungover. I've brought people to work out with me and have specifically not returned because of the pushy Sharon. Another thing, the first 3 days after I joined, Sharon and her daughter acted like they were my best friends, now they don't even know my name, let alone wave to me or smile at me. They've got my money, job done. It's pathetic. The man seems nice enough, but if he really wants to do something about that gym, he'd reads these posts and take the advice of his customers. Pros: daycare, tanning, classes included in contract Cons: the only gym in the area who requires a contract, white trashy staff, gossipy, most of the staff needs to workout themselves. more

Get and Stay informed! 11/16/2008

Ladies...after reading all of the posts in regards to PLF, I agree with the majority! So I won't repeat everything that has already been stated. Without getting into the details, I hired an attorney to void my contract because I moved away. After phone calls and less than appealing customer service, a friend suggest I have an attorney view the contract and assist me in terminating it. I did and it was the best decision I made in regards to PLF! It cost less than $100.00 and the attorney was able to navigate through all the ""legal terms"" and the contract was terminated almost immediately (very satisfying for me). I'm not weathly...but I could swing the $100.00 to the attorney! A few more advantages to this...they could not harass me for payment (they had to talk to the attorney), could NOT touch my CREDIT...and I gained personal satisfaction by empowering myself! So to those ladies who moved out of the area or have other circumstances...it's probably worth your while to seek legal counsel in regards to PLF and the contracts! Pros: N/A Cons: Buyer Beware! more

Filthy Gym 9/11/2008

As a past member of the Premier Ladies Fitness gym I would like to add to the comments here. The comments posted only re-enforce my feelings and experience of this gym. I have always obtained memberships at ""Ladies only gyms"" in the past few years as I have had several job transfers across the Midwest, and it is a great way to stay healthy and meet people when new in town. I do have to say this is the coldest attmosphere I have experienced. But the biggest issue for me was the dirty unkept facility. I have frequented many gyms regardless of age or equipment, there is no reason that the bathrooms and facilities in general are so bad that you hate to use them. Yes, there are many people who come and go and not all things can be controlled constanty, but I really hated to go to that place. The person walking around or talking on the phone could get up hourly to see if things were in tack. Also, the atmosphere in general was cold and unwelcoming. I hope the owners wake up to this fact. But as long as they advertise and get memberships secured, then it is all about business. Pros: affordable price, tanning included, child care, ladies only Cons: filthy facility, broken equipement, dead atmosphere, lethargic personnel more

Premier Ladies Fitness--Huber Heights 7/27/2008

I have been a member of Premier Ladies Fitness in Huber Heights for over 7 months. I am very happy with the contract that I signed and what I pay per month to be a member. It is totally worth the $. For the most part, the staff is very nice. You have to remember that they are trainers and sales people. Their job is customer service and sales. The club would not be open if they didn't have new members joining for what we pay per month. Judy the manager is WONDERFUL! Yes, she is a very busy person...but will take the time to talk to you, help you and offer a hug when one is needed. Unless you ask for help, the trainers are very busy doing other duties. The childcare providers are very nice and helpful. I make a point every time of thanking them for their help with my child. My child appreciates the fact that a SCREAMING child isn't left for 2 hours to listen to. It is a free child-care. If your child is disruptive and bothersome to all the other children, why should the ladies let them continue that nonsense. The Zumba, Hip Hop Zumba, Zumba Gold and Turbo Cardio classes are SO much fun and a major workout. Carol is a fantastic trainer and very personable. I haven't regret one day of being a Premier Ladies member. I love the all women environment. And, the 30 day free membership is actually that. You wouldn't buy a car without test driving it...right? So test drive it and make sure it is right for you. Don't let someone push you into signing a contract if it isn't right for you. Contracts are binding and a $ commitment. Pros: Classes are wonderful. Judy the manager is very customer oriented and will help you with anything. Cons: I live 15 miles away and none close to my house. But I still drive to the gym to work out. more

The gym from hell 6/21/2008

I recently signed up at premier because I wanted an all female gym(sick of ""meat market"" gyms). The first day was wonderful. The manager actually cracked a smile and I felt really welcome. Things began to take a turn for the worse when one of the employees started tellng me how she sold fake purses out the trunk of her car! What I have discovered so far...the so called ""trainers"" know nothing about proper diet or exercise technique. The only thing they can tell you is how to use the equipment (mine even had trouble with that!!). and when asking them for help, they act like you are bothering them. My favorite is the one ""trainer"" who walks around with the sour look on her face. She looks like she eats lemons all day and her face froze that way. I have not seen one employee who looks like they spend any time in the gym so there goes any chance of me getting any worthwhile training advice. They eat fast food and talk on the phone ALL DAY!! They look unhealthy, unhappy, unmotivated, and just plain BORED!! By the way, the manager only said hi on day one, since then she remains at her desk while she scans the gym for possible ""new members"". I've tried on several occasions to engage the workers, but no one seems interested in customer service...why would they, they have you suckered in, once you sign the contract they could care less about customer service. I have no problem with trainers who are a little overweight, I actually think its good to represent all shapes and sizes...I would prefer to see a 300pound trainer with a beautiful smile on her face anyday than to look at those women who work at premier!!!!. The only positive is the price, for that amount I can get a workout for nearly nothing and it's close to home...so for now, actually for the next 18 months I'm stuck there and I'm hoping, just hoping, that once someone might just say good morning!!!!! I won't hold my breath... more

More than one location, maybe try a different one. 4/15/2008

I have been to this facility and the facility in Huber Heights. Even if the pool is bigger in Kettering, I much prefer the enviroment at Huber Heights location. The people are friendly and the staff helpful. more

MANAGEMENT NEEDS A OVERHAUL 4/8/2008

I have only been a member there a few months. I wish I had used the full 30 days and got the heck outta there. the manager, who sits in an office, can to run for the phone or run out when someone is a newcomer, can move pretty fast when there is $$ signs. But when you need to talk to her about anything, she is ""busy"" and slow. The blonde in the morning just sits at the front. Does she even move? And no, you cannot take my picture for the hundredth time. And please wear a regular shirt. I cannot go in early because she cannot help, until she gets a trainer in there. Is she not trained? \r Some of the staff are great. We can talk freely, joke and even banter each other. Thank god they got rid of the loud mouthed staff member who I will not name , but rhymes with ""hell"". If I ever see her again, I will stop using that gym. She actually asked me if I am going to have gastric bypass to help me lose ""all that weight"". then told me that it will take a long time, and made me sign for 3 years. She said it would take at least that long for me to lose it.\r They could all use a customer service seminar. And the manager could use one on proper management. She is rude and I have even heard her argue with the same woman at the front desk on the floor. Who i think someone told me is her daughter. Sometimes the tension is thick and you could cut it with a knife.\r I just chose to go in , work out, and leave. The 80's music has got to go. It is not upbeat enough, I love to go when Zumba is going on, I cannot dance, but I like the way it picks you up and makes you move faster, too bad they cannot channel that into the speakers. Personally I like that fact that some of the staff is ""normal"", who wants a skinny minnie telling you how to lose weight. At least the normal ones can empathize with us. It feels good to see women of all shapes and sizes helping each other. \r Pro's: Cheap and mostly fun\r Con's: Pushy, and Attitudes flying around. more

The B*tch in charge 3/31/2008

I have been a memeber of Premier In kettering for almost three years. It was great until the drag queen, Sharon, started managing it. I agree that some staff is overweight, but everyone starts somewhere. I am scared to renew my membership because of all the lies and money hungry behavior that goes on there. I am also afraid that even if I do cancel my membership, that they will SAY they did and then I will be still paying or sent to collections. I love Trish the morning daycare person, she is wonderful. As far as dirty goes with the gym or daycare, if you have Hitler running your business and she is a money grubbing b*tch, do you think you will have any resources?? She (sharon, the manger) says making copies for the kids to color is BREAKING her. I wish they would throw her a** out. The owner is a preacher, which reminds me of why I don't go to church anymore. why would you back someone who is abusive to new members, pushy and a flat out liar. This gym will go down eventually, it is just a matter of time. Pros: cheap and familiar Cons: THE MANAGER and her Daughter more

STAY AWAY don't wast your money Premier Fitness is Awful!!! 2/29/2008

Premier fitness will tell you anything to get you sign a contract when all they really care about is your money I was told that I would have a free personal trainer. That is a load of c***. I don't think any of them were certified personal trainers. They were all just women who were hardley trained in using the equipment. Second the place is filthy. I have never seen workers cleaning anything. They do have spray bottles for the members themselves to wipe the machines down when they are finished but I have never seen the actual employees cleaning them. Also as far as cleanliness goes the so called child care is a joke. It is a dirty box with underqualified impatient workers that just let the kids run around in a free for all. I have been there and was going to leave my daughter in there but had to leave on more than one occasion becouse I didn't trust the worker. Also after spending a few times in the child care with my daughter trying to get her to stop crying (of course a crying child was unacceptable to them) I noticed how dirty it was. The floor looked like it hadn't been vacumed in weeks, the toys were covered in dirt, the cribs were very old and over all the place was unclean. Because of this I choose not to take my child there anymore. I tried to go other times without her but since my husband works a lot of hours and I don't have anyone to watch her I have had to stop going to the gym. Whenever I have made complaints to them about any of this they brush me off and ignore me. Due to this I made a complaint to the Better BB and there response was we cannot let you out a contract at will. They didn't even address my complaints or offer to fix anything. This is a sorry excuse for a gym. If you are considering going there STAY AWAY!!!!!!! This place is awful with terrible customer sevice, a dirty box with underqualified child care workers in the day care, and a subpar place to work out. Premier fitness is awful!! Pros: It is very cheap Cons: you get what you pay for, child care is a dirty box, they only really care about your money, they don't really have personal trainers more

Best Place in Dayton Area 1/17/2008

I am a member. I started in 2004. I have had a great experience. I have used the Miamisburg, Kettering and Huber Heights locations. I recently resigned for 3 more years. I invited my bosses wife to join me for a free 30 days to see if she likes it. She did some research and found this site and bad reviews. I was shocked! I disagree with everything! My experience was totally different. I think the THOUSANDS of other members who have not submitted a bad review would agree with me. As far as ""overweight trainers"", who are you to judge people. How many times have you gone to a hair salon and seen the hairdresser and about walked out but got the best cut ever. At least they are there trying to help you as well as themselves! And as for getting trapped in a contract, I feel that it is that own persons fault. You should fully research something before you commit to it. You should go look at the facilities first. That is why they offer a free 30 days! And if you feel pressured you should learn to say no and stand up for yourself. No one can make you do anything! I just think that it is a great enviroment. Women of all shapes and sizes are there for one common goal. If women want to socialize and ""sell"" stuff than that is their right! I can got in and out of the gym and not say one word to anyone if that is what I choose. I just strongly feel these other reviews are overdoing it! I think anyone reading this should NOT take my word or anyone else and just go for yourself and check it out. Your body will thank you! Pros: Child Care, Trainers, Tanning Beds all included Cons: I will let you know when I find one. more

Horrible Gym! 1/7/2008

Advertises ""FREE PERSONAL TRAINERS"" what a joke. The so called trainers are just the desk people who are overweight and unhealthy themselves. The only thing they can show you is how to work the machines! The sales people are way too aggressive and rip people off! Pros: cheap Cons: False Advertising, aggressive sales team who con people into contracts more

Premier = SCAM 11/29/2007

I just signed up with Premier about 2 weeks ago under a ""Free 30 Trial"". Then I got on this website and started reading everyones complaints. It got me looking into my contract. For starters the guy (Jeff Haffner of Premier fitness on Kingsridge drive by the Dayton mall.) Promised me this was a month to month thing and there was NO CONTRACTS AT PREMIER. When he gave me the contract or ""Membership signup paper"" I filled out my name and information and signed it as he asked, ALL SPACES WERE BLANK. He then takes me for a tour around Premeir and when we get back to his office my contract is in a seeled envalope waiting for me to take home..I didn't think much of it, after reading the reviews on here i opened that envalope, Apparently I am in a 36 month Contract and i owe them $1500?!?!?! The contract says nothing about a free trial. My ""Membership"" hasn't started yet, I am on a free trial, however they claim my membership started the day i came in there, so I cant cancel this lame contract. I still have Jeff's Voicemail telling me to come in for my FREE TRIAL. \r \r Cons\r \r *They Lie to you\r *They Manipulate documents\r *Their trainers have no clue what is going on\r *They steal your money\r \r Pros\r \r .........Are you kidding me? Pros: Their trainers are really good at meeting their quota.... Cons: Which in turn screws you over. more

Don't even consider this gym! 11/6/2007

Avoid getting sucked into this gym's scams! Even the 30 day things isn't free because they want you to sign up right away for the contract so that you can save money and they waste your time. I am a personal trainer and I know for a fact that their personal trainers are not certifed and neither are their group instructors. I witnessed the overweight front desk lady taking people through their training routines, now what is wrong with that picture. She was also telling people all the wrong things that really disgusted me. I still have 2 years with the contract and I want out now, but can't get out. Check out Cardinal Fitness with no contract and less expensive. Pros: not coed Cons: everything more

Use another gym! 9/13/2007

When you go to Premier Ladies Fitness Gym, they will offer you a FREE 30 day trial. They offer free childcare, free personal trainers, free pool usage and free aerobic classes. Plus it's only for women. I joined in at the Kettering branch, near the Mall at the Greene.\r \r I went with a friend to try out the FREE 30 day trial. I put my child in daycare and exercised. When we were leaving, a manager came up to use and ushered us to her desk to pitch a sale. I explained that I didn't have a job and didn't have a bank myself. I explained that I wanted to just do the free trial period and then would decide. She took out a contract, filled it out, and didn't explain anything. I was in a hurry to leave. She pushed me to sign, PROMISING me, that I had 30 days free trial to cancel my contract.\r \r I was hounded by phone calls for my bank information and anytime that I went to the gym they were hounding me also. The day came for me to cancel my contract. I was told I couldn't cancel my membership. I now owed them money for that first month, as well as a late charge. This was from my 30 day free trial. We tried to call the collection company about the issue and they said there was nothing I could do, that I was supposed to cancel within 3 days. I went in to speak to the gym managers. I explained the problem to the manager on duty. The date on my contract she had put down was that first day I started going, NOT the date at the end of my 30 day trial. The manager got mad, wouldn't listen, was defense, even screamed at us. She tells me she has no authority to cancel my membership and I need to contact the collection agency. \r \r I sent an explaination letter to the collection agency. My bill now includes 2 late fees and 2 months of membership payments. They contacted me a week later and say I can't have the manager fix this problem, because it's her word against mine and there was nothing in writing on the contract about the Free 30 day trial. I'm trapped. Pros: Cheap membership, free classes, free childcare, free trainer, free pool Cons: Poor customer service. Poor management. more
