Job not completed and no return calls. 8/5/2010

I hired them in October 2009 to install a new system in my home. As of yet almost a year later and after numerous calls the system is not fully installed, and does not heat the house or cool the house properly. One tech understood with the problem was but they never sent him out to do the work and each and every time some one came out we ended up with a new problem. still one room is not connected at all as agreed on the contract house does not cool down. and they have not been returning any calls, they even sold and made profit out of my old unit and each time someone comes out they keep trying to talk me into having my swamp cooler removed. Now they are simply hanging up. they charged my card the full amount and have yet to complete. i have called the install mgr , customer service mgr. supposedly they are the top rated and trane is suppsed to be the best. I am beyond disgusted with them. and now have sent a letter to the local news station, filed a complaint with BBB, and sent another complaint letter to a legal firm. I am sure I am not the only one out there they have done this too. My electric bill is more than it was with the old system. They are in breech of contract and have done nothing but make matters works. if there was a negative rating on this i would have given them -10.\r more

No Return Calls after being Overcharged 8/4/2010

Orangutan Home Services came to my home to do a minor repair and add freon to my air conditioning unit. When I asked what the charges were the tech gave me a blanket price. I asked for the services to be broken down and the tech stated per home office (Orangutan Services) this is how they charge customers and they just go by tiers. I was stuck so I had no choice. I then called the following business day then two days after with no call back. A voicemail was also left without a return call the next business day as their voicemail states. I keep getting told the Service Manager will call. I called again today and the receptionist knew me, stated she will again pass along to have the Service Manager call. Still no call. Seems like others in that Oragutan just charges whatever they want. I certainly hope the Service Manager calls me back so this can be resolved. If not then complaints will be logged with the BBB and Registar of Contractors. more

Buyer beware 7/20/2010

I purchased a new air conditioner from AHM about 13 months ago and the compressor died. We contacted AHM and they sent a technician out. The initial invoice he gave us was for $1,379.00 to repair the unit this was to pay for the labor charges only since the compressor is still under manufacture warranty and we had purchased a maintenance program from them which covers refrigerant and a 20% discount on any labor charges. My wife asked the technician, why the cost was so high, but he basically said that was the cost and put her in touch with his service manager. The service manager said that the best he could do was give her a 20% discount since we purchased it from home depot. But since he felt sorry for her told her to just pay the $1103.20 and he will give us a 10 year warranty. Which to me just sounded like they made the price high to sell a 10 year warranty. I made several attempts to contact the service manager and he never once returned my calls. He did have his tech call me, and he basically said that $1100 was the national average. Which didn't answer my question on what it should cost. Since I wasn't asking what the national average was. After further discussion with the tech he said he would do it for $500.00 which he said was the actually labor cost. But it just seems like they pull numbers out of the air. If it was only $500.00 why do they give us an initial quote of $1379.00? In the end they ended up selling my wife a 900.00 10 year policy minus 60.00 for the one day they could not fix the unit and we had to sit in the heat. They also made this sound like a huge favor to us since the actually cost is suppose to be around $1099.00. Seems very shady, very unhappy with my experience. Pros: Sales rep was good Cons: everything else more

A/C purchase & maintenance 12/10/2009

Sales person rated new A/C unit for our house - it is cool in summer and warm in winter. Very quiet except when heater is in defrost mode. This was explained prior to installation. There were some problems in getting the unit installed on our roof but were cleared within a few days. One of the problems seemed minor and acceptable to me, but the technicians worked until A/C was installed to their standards. It required installing a new platform. Technicians on subsequent visits made suggestions for add-on's but did not push or apply "scare tactics" to make extra sales. My advice to unhappy people "Don't continue shopping for anything AFTER you make a purchase" Pros: Perfect performance since install almost 2 years ago. more

Bad Install/Service 8/31/2009

My old unit was 13 years old and was on the verge of going out. I went to the Home Depot and set up an estimate. I ended up buying a deluxe 15 seer model. I was excited and maybe had too high of expectations. I was told I would get certain type of filter, my ceiling would be fixed (damaged from old unit), and an upgraded thermostat. They were quick to install +. However, they broke a piece out of my attic entrance and told no one. They brought the wrong filter. They brought the wrong thermostat. On top of that, the unit quit working three hours after it was installed. I tried to call someone but couldn't make contact. I finally made contact after a series of phone calls. They sent a tech out. He was a good man. He told me the unit was overwhelmed and pointed out several issues where the installers made mistakes. He got the unit running again. The second time someone came out, they brought the right filter and the right thermostat and discovered a pin hole leak the installers left in the tubing. I must say atleast they were honest. They fixed that and promised to bring the 2 years worth of filters. I still haven't seen these yet. The latest now is the thermostat is blank and my unit quit. Again I could not make contact with anyone, including the sales rep. I finally made contact through one of their operators and have someone on the way. So here I sit with sweat beading up on my forehead waiting for the service guy. Lets hope this is the last time for real. And I hope this is an isolated incident but by the looks of some of the other reviews. it isn't. Hope this helps. If I wouldn't recommend them to my mother, I wouldn't recommend them to anyone else. Pros: Once you make contact, they try to be very helpful Cons: Everything that could have gone wrong, did. more

Incredible ripoff attempt - tried to charge me 10 times the actual price of a part. 1/2/2009

I was talked into a ac/heating system check by a guy at home depot. They offered me a good deal and since I had a problem with one of my units, I agreed to them checking it out. So the tech comes and checks out the unit and tells me the transformer is blown and some relays are bad. Then he goes to his truck and looks up the part. They wanted $281 for the transformer alone. I told him No Thanks, I may be almost deaf, but I'm not stupid. I bought a transformer that is better than the one they offered me (higher rating) for $30, and actually I could have gotten one like they offered me for less than $15. I replaced the transformer and proceded to check out the relays, which were not bad. The unit works great now, and I will never ever use this company as long as I live. It's not enough that they charge you $100+ per hour (tech wasn't there more than 15-20 minutes) they try to rip you off by getting you to pay 10 times the cost of the part. NO THANKS! They're crooks. Pros: tech seemed to know a few things, although his diagnosis was partly wrong Cons: incredible markup when it comes to price. more

Good TRANE installation but rejection on APS rebate of this TRANE because it failed EER rating 5/7/2008

The entire process from salesman to install was great. A new Trane was installed. BUT when I applied for the APS electric rebate , APS denied it stating our new TRANE had an EER Rating of just 11.0 and 11.r is required. Our concern is more did we get an older model that didn't meet the standards plus we did not get the $300 rebate as promised in the bid. To date AHM-Inc. has not been able to resolve this with APS or advise us we got an older Trane 19I. This is disappointing because our entire experience with AHM had been great and communicative. Waiting on call back that is not coming so far. If resolved with APS or discover this is an older TRANE we will update this recommendation or lack of one. Very disappointed at this time about response from AHM but they did do a good job with installation and seemed above board. more

Absolute worst service ever!!!!!!!!! 9/20/2007

Absolute worst service I have ever received from a contractor. I was sold a new Trane heat pump. It cost me $6600.00. I was told by the sales person that the unit was "whisper quiet". I asked, "It's really that quiet huh." He said, "It's so quiet that the technician has to lay his hand on it to see if it is running." This unit is much more noisey than the 25+ year old unit I had before. I actually have a hard time going to sleep at night sometimes. Their response: (if you can get them on the phone) was that the sales guy must have been talking about another model. I think not! I know what I was told. The salesman also told me that my electric bill would decrease by about 50%. I got a notice from SRP that my bill is going to increase. Again I was told that the salesman must have been talking about another model. Seems he was describing one model and sold me a different one. My install was done in April and during the install (new return in hallway) they destroyed a good portion of the drywall on my ceiling. The install guy said, "Don't worry, we'll send a guy to fix that and you'll never know it was damaged". Well, a guy did finally come out and do the repair. I can definitely tell it was repaired. The guy told my wife he would be back in a few days and paint it. It is Sept. 20th and it is still not painted. There is much more to this story, no, really, it goes on and on, but I am running out of space and time. Bottom line is, if you use this company, in my opinion, you will be very disappointed!!. They lie to you and then try to make you out to be in the wrong and try to make you feel stupid. Service after the sale is extremely poor. You are very lucky to get anyone to answer the phone. If you leave a message, you are lucky if they call you back. I went through Home Depot to make this purchase. So much for "approved contractors". Pros: I can't think of any. Cons: The worst!! more
