Thank you oradell and thank you Dr. Hudak.. I was there last Monday with my best friend, love, company and sweet heart Gina, she is resting now and I know Dr. That You Were there ...

First, their facility is world-class. Since they moved from their old location in Oradell on Kinderkamack, it rivals a very technology forward human hospital. Enormous staff, and ...

I love the staff at Oradell 4/23/2008

I love the staff at Oradell. I hate to put my beloved Cinder to sleep she was 11 years old had a liver problem and cancer. If not for their compassion I probably would not have had the strength to let her go. I owed them money and I am still making payments but I don't care. We just brought home a new rescue dog and we take her Oradell in Fort Lee. Trust me I went to the inexpensive vets and the phrase you get what you pay for is true. I recommend this animal hospital to everyone. Thank you again Oradell. more

Ora-well i wish there WAS something lower than one star. 4/21/2008

I took my brother's dog to Oradell in October when i was dog sitting, because my local animal hospital was closed. Oradell seemed to be extremely clean and fairly similar to a human hospital. However, the prices.. one visit, in which the doctor 'supposedly' took x-rays (which I never saw), gave the dog all these expensive shots and medicines (without my permission), and charged a nice fee of $503.00 with a smile. Not being in the financial condition to pay off a $500 debt, I set up a payment plan with the hospital, and awaited my next bill... that never came. However, last week or so, I received a letter in the mail stating that i was going to get sued! So not only am I expected to pay off a $520 (1.6% interest each month you don't pay it off in full), but I am also awaited in court. They were helpful, I guess, but once you leave the hospital, you're just another collection fee. more

World Class Veterinary Care! 3/16/2008

I have been a client of Oradell Animal Hospital for over 4 years now and am horrified at the reviews I have just read. Never in any of my experiences at this hospital have I seen or heard of such allegations! Every doctor and intern I have dealt with during the care of my 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 parrots and several exotic reptiles, has been wonderful! The staff is caring and warm. Yes, they are expensive, but you get what you pay for! When my ex-local vet performed routine Urinary Blockage surgery on my 3 year old cat and botched the entire procedure almost costing him his life, Oradell's top-knotch surgeon, Dr. Carol Carberry was there within minutes on a Saturday night to save his life! The $1000 I spent at Oradell was nothing in comparison to the $2000 for a horrible, almost fatal, surgery I spent at my local vet! I will never go anywhere else now that I have been to Oradell Animal Hospital! Both my of my labs were also worked on at Oradell for Foreign Body surgeries after eating pieces o more

Oradell came through for my pets! 2/25/2008

I have nothing but the greatest respect for Oradell Animal Hospital and its excellent doctors and staff. Oradell is not where I usually take my pets as it is quite a distance from where I live. It is the place I go when one of my ten cats contracts an illness that cannot be diagnosed or treated by my family vet.\r \r Such was the case with "Sterling," a 12-year-old neutered male, who lost almost a third of his body weight, inexplicably and in a very short time. The doctors at Oradell examined him, ran the appropriate tests, and diagnosed that he had a serious heart condition. Now, a year later and on prescription medication, he has regained his weight (and then some) and appears to be quite healthy and happy.\r \r A more recent case was with "Lucy," my old-lady calico. Lucy also had lost a lot of weight and over time, was becoming increasingly inactive. Since she is 17 years old, I expected that her decline was unstoppable. My vet ran every test of which she was capable in terms of equipme more

Impressed!!! 2/24/2008

As a foreigner and animal friend, I was truly amazed when I visited Oradell and its ER with my dog. The professionalism of the doctors and staff as they met me and described the treatment for my dog was unlike anything I'd ever experienced. The methods used to diagnose my dog were as sophisticated as those used in human hospitals and I was very pleased to get my dog back knowing what troubled him. They really stayed on top of the situation! Sure, it was not for free, but in this case it was well worth it without an instant of hesitation.\r \r I did read some of the former reviews and got a little sad. I refuse to believe a hospital can have such different faces, as some of the other bitter reviewers claim. I assume that animal hospitals could possibly be victims of bad rhetoric, just as a human hospital might be blamed if the process of convalescence does not work out for the patient. Just look at the horrible medical malpractice industry that has been created in this country... \r \r I ha more

MY 6 yr. old DOG IS DEAD & "WE DON'T KNOW WHAT HAPPENED" 2/21/2008

I have read some of the other reviews and it is scary how many sound similar.\r I brought my dog to Oradell to be treated for what we were told by our vet and Oradell, was Pancreatitis & possibly diabetes. They said she would need to be there a day or two, although some pets occasionally take a little longer to respond. All the tests were done.\r There was no discussion about our dog being very ill. This seemed to be routine treatment for these ailments. I left our dog around 1pm.\r My wife visited her about 5pm. At both times she was able to stand and wagged her tail. She was tired and listless from not eating solid food for over a day. The night before she was on intravenous at our vet. We brought her to Oradell because our vet felt she needed to be treated at a larger facility over the Christmas holiday weekend where staffing would not be an issue. At approximatedly 7:30pm we received a call that our dog had "gone into cardiac arrest" and "what would we like to do?" We immediately r more

Just want your money 1/21/2008

Our cat was sent to Oradell by another hospital because he required microscopic surgery on his ureters from crystal build up. Oradell kept the cat there until he was ready for some test. We were told that the surgery was going to be around $8,000. It turned out that it was worse than we thought and one of his kidneys was showing signs of failure. At that point in time, my husband and I wanted to weigh out our decision on what type of quality of life he could have if he needed a kidney removed. We were talking to the vet and we said that if he needed that type of surgery, we might consider putting him down. We talked it over with the vet (really several vets because we never got the same one) and they understood our position. They explained to us what we could expect years down the road if we did remove his kidney. Low and behold, the run some tests and his kidney showed signs function and didn't need to be removed afterall. So we decide to go ahead with the surgery. The surgery ended u more

Over priced 1/20/2008

Oradell Animal Hospital has one thing going for it. It is open 24 hours a day. So if you have an emergency after hours or on weekends it is a god send. I recently had to bring my dog there for an emergency surgery and yes, they did save her life, but it cost me $4500 and she only stayed there two days. But what really bothers me is that about three months later I discovered that they had not removed all the staples from her incision and two of them were infected and oozing. I think fir that price I should be able expect proper care and competency. more

ALL MIXED UP 1/16/2008

I brought my baby aka puppy in on an emergency, he needed all the care he can get as fast as possible. They were giving him all kinds of tests hooked him up to machines. I was so upset that i didnt care about anything around me only about my baby. Well i had to leave the the emergency room and go to another room so they can do what they had to do. Well like 30 mins later the nurse came in and was like well how are you going to pay for this like thats all she cared about, I was like can i set up a payment plan or something she said well what we can do is, you can apply for care credit. I said ok but what if I dont get approved she looked confused. So the impression that I felt got from the nurse was that if i didnt have the money they wouldnt care as much for my baby as someone with money. It really got me upset. All she kept saying was ohhh its already up to 1,000 dollars it could get up to 5,000 dollars. It was really putting pressure on me. I was thinking ok why are you wo more

MIXED REVIEW 12/30/2007

My experiences with Oradell Animal Hospital have been a very mixed bag. I had an elderly cat with diabetes. This means she required regular monitoring for the remaining years of her life. I did not have an exorbitant amount of extra cash. To care for her required regular checkups ($), special food ($), insulin and hypodermic needles ($) and testing strips ($). The doctors who cared for her over the years were very sympathetic to the ongoing financial burden and only did essential screenings. While it was a stretch, I never felt the costs were unreasonable. \r When it finally came time to let her go to sleep, Oradell Animal Hospital staff were incredibly compassionate. The process was totally humane and sensitive to my emotional state as we took this difficult step. I have nothing but praise for Dr. Pigg and the staff who handled this final passage.\r \r However, I do recognize that not everything is perfect. I was horrified on one occasion to witness an interaction between a fro more

Only good things to say 12/23/2007

We recently brought our PBGV in for what turned out to be a very serious case of pancreatitis. He was touch and go for three days, but got wonderful care from the moment we walked in. Our main vet was Dr. Sartor who could not have been more caring. She was sensitive to recognize that the stress of being in the hospital was adding to our dogs recovery and suggested that being at home may help in healing. He was released after 4 days. She could have easily said he should stay in the hospital for the full six days which as we all know costs a bundle. We would have done whatever it took to make him better.\r She also suggested we come as much as possible to the hospital and be with him which is not normal protocol there. They usually recommend staying 20 minutes. Our dog had never been in a kennel or overnight in a hospital in his 8.6 years and was so stressed he cried the entire time. The only time he slept was when we sat with him. The fact that Dr. Sartor paid attention to this and acte more

I worked at Oradell 12/22/2007

I am no longer there but I can attest to the fact that their staff is caring and well-trained. Their CCU crew is top notch. The job is difficult, the volume is high, but the techs, assistants and ward aides do a great job of holding it all together. I would take my pets there without concern - any department, any service. I completely trust what goes on behind the scenes. Can't say that about most places I've worked at.\r \r General suggestions:\r \r In an emergency situation, go to the nearest hospital. Just realize that every hospital will have a long wait, a big bill and unhappy owners. Also take note that all hospitals will take serious emergencies right away (hit by car animals, seizuring animals, pale, lifeless pets, active bleeders, bloated dogs, blocked cats, respiratory distress cases, etc.). Just realize that when you're waiting and waiting and waiting for your 'dog's broken leg' to be seen and a seizing Labrador comes in and goes directly to the treatment area followed b more

Janie's delicate condition 11/4/2007

Jane,y was delicate from day one. she has visited oradell veterinary hospital many times.Dr. Luckner was one of the best vets I had ever met. He delt with many cats that I had. He truly cared. After him I had many vets. Some that were very cordial etc.some were in training. I had no one until Joanne Desantis. she seems to care as Dr. lackner or Dr. Deviree did. She calls me back etc.I have one very temperamental cat. No one likes to deal with him, but he is mine and I love him. She gives me medicine before I bring him in in and gives him a shot when he arrives.Everyone else treats him as little as possible and I do understand but she deals with him. I know he is not nice and he scratched Dr. devirees but he is scared.\r she seems to understand this.I am sure Dr. De santis will do her best for my Janey girl more

Tiffany's life was saved on more than one occasion! 11/1/2007

Because my regular vet is small and could not handle the medical emergency one of my five dogs had on three separate occasions, I was sent to Oradell where a team of vets that worked on her saved her life (Drs. Gannon, Bisgard, and Stalker)! Because of the seriousness of her medical condition, she has become a special patient with an internist (Dr. Sartor) and a nutritionist (Dr. Eirman). Whenever I have a question or concern, I know I can call and speak with one of her vets (mainly Dr. Sartor) and not feel like I'm bothering them or asking a stupid question. Although my purse screams every time I go there with Tiffany, I really can't put a price on my precious baby's life. more

Casey Fell 10/26/2007

I do not know where to start.Casey was a boxer that was sent to Oradell because they thought he had Lymphoma. He was tested and it was confirmed. He first started seeing Dr. Hall and she was great with him.Casey really liked her. Then he started seeing Dr .Brenn ,Cendrine and staff. This is where it started to get hard.Casey started to go for treatments once a week for a couple of months. At first it was real hard because he did not want to go after awhile because of all the test and treatments they were doing on him. When we would get close in the car he started to breath heavy and would start to cry.Than came the part that I wanted to get too, Cendrine started to come out and get him every week from the waiting room.He started to ease up on going and would start looking for her to come and get him and would get real excited when she did.He would go in for his blood work and would come ,than go in for his treatments.Than he started going in for his blood work and doing his treatments withou more

WORST HOSPITAL ON THE FACE OF THE EARTH! 10/16/2007

Our two year old dog had what seemed to be an allergic reaction so we brought him in. We had to leave him there and the ER doc called that evening and said he was doing much better. In the morning- Rather than go with the treatment that seemed to be working, the attending doctor stopped the antibiotic treatment and ran every test imaginable on him. She called us and told us the neurologist said that after the MRI our dog had no brain function and to either put him down or put a shunt in his head but that he'd never function properly. TEN MINUTES LATER she called back saying our dog sat up and barked and we could come see him for a few moments before we decided what to do. \r \r Our regular vet told us that the situation sounded insane and to GET THE DOG OUT OF ORADELL IMMEDIATELY and take him to Redbank animal hospital (Even though we live an hour away.) \r \r When we went to Oradell to pick him up- the attending doctor NEVER came out to say ANYTHING. We never met her. I don't care what th more

PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 10/9/2007

I HAVE JUST READ SEVERAL OTHER PEOPLE'S REVIEWS AND HAVE DECIDED TO SHARE OURS. ARRIVED ON A FRIDAY NIGHT AND WAITED THREE HOURS BEFORE WE EVEN SAW A DOCTOR. WHEN THE DOCTOR CAME IN TO CHECK ON OUR DOG SHE MISDIAGNOSED HER CONDITION COMPLETELY. SHE TOLD US THAT AN MRI WOULD BE PERFORMED ON SATURDAY MORNING WHICH DID NOT HAPPEN FOR A MERE FEE OF APPROX $1500.00. AFTER RECEIVING A CALL ON SAT MORNING FROM A DR. SARTOR, IN WHICH I HAD TO CONVINCE HER TO DO THE MRI, THEY IN TURN TOLD ME THAT NO NEUROLOGIST WAS ON DUTY TO READ THE RESULTS. YET THEY CHARGED ME $255.00 TO READ THE RESULTS. THE TOTAL BILL FOR THIS RIPOFF WAS 2190.00.THIS PLACE SHOULD BE CLOSED DOWN. I SUGGEST TO EVERYONE TO PLEASE USE RED BANK VET HOSP.,WORLD'S BEST CARE FOR YOUR PET. more

fantastic neurologist and great dr's 9/10/2007

Oradell , The best , always there when you need them 9/10/2007

I just happened upon the reviews regarding Oradell Animal Hospital and admit I was shocked at what I read. In reading through all of the posted reviews I realized that many people do not understand how veterinary hospitals work. I have been a client at Oradell for over 20 years and I wouldn't still be there if they were guilty of the many things they are accused of. My family has brought 10-15 animals there over the years for both routine and emergency care, and to see some of the specialists. We would not go anywhere else. What we have experienced is outstanding medical care and much compassion and caring. Are they expensive ? yes they are , but they are there 24/7 every day of the year and have a lot of expensive equipment that when needed saves owners from having to go to 3 or 4 other veterinary hospitals to get all of the diagnostic things done. Recently our older doberman developed a critical back problem on a Saturday evening. We raced him to Oradell where he was immediately tria more

  • Established in 1961 by Drs. Gary Johnson and Anthony Palminteri, Oradell Animal Hospital has grown into one of the largest technologically advanced, state-of-the-art veterinary facilities in the world. As we continue to grow our mission remains to provide the highest quality, comprehensive, and compassionate medical care to pets while supporting our clients with sensitivity and understanding; and to serve as a multifaceted resource for the veterinary profession. Our award winning hospital encompasses a team of veterinarians, technicians, client service representatives, office personnel and other support staff all providing a level of competence and professionalism which makes us an institution of which we are all proud. The hospital is open and staffed 24 hours a day, 365 days a year offering emergency services at all times combined with medically advanced diagnostics and treatment. In addition, our team of board certified specialists are available to accept referrals of diagnostically challenging cases from your family veterinarian. Oradell Animal Hospital has two satellite locations located in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey and Fort Lee, New Jersey that are staffed by the hospital's doctors. Both offices share on-line computerized patient records with the main hospital. Whether you are dealing with an emergency situation or your pet is being referred, the Oradell Animal Hospital stands ready to care for both your pet and your family. Oradell Animal Hospital is proud to be an accredited member of the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). Our accreditation demonstrates our commitment to the highest standards of veterinary care. Since 1963, we have regularly undergone inspections by AAHA to ensure that we comply with the association's high quality standards of care. These standards cover nearly every aspect of our hospital. Approximately 17 percent of animal hospitals in the United States are accredited by AAHA. Our general medicine veterinarians are highly skilled and trained to take special care of your pet from birth through their senior years. We perform all levels of service such as preventive medicine, diagnosis of disease, medical treatments and emergencies. Your general medicine veterinarian will work as a team with you and our board certified specialists to provide initial and follow up care 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Some of the more common problems our generalists see include diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, skin conditions, ear infections, urinary tract infections, allergic reactions, eye problems, obstetrical problems, cardiac conditions, infectious diseases such as tracheobronchitis or parvovirus infections and common orthopedic problems such as arthritis, ruptured ligaments, and lamenesses. Your pet's health and well-being is our number one concern. A wellness examination gives us the chance to evaluate your pet's overall health and to detect problems before they turn into serious illnesses. Because most pets age more quickly than you do, it is essential that your pet's be examined at least once a year and as your pets get older, twice yearly. Additional testing may be recommended to diagnose a health problem. As part of the wellness examination a complete physical examination will be performed plus any routine screening tests that may be indicated. The early signs of heart disease can often be recognized during a routine health exam.
