Great Pizza -- must stop if in New York 11/27/2006

Our family of 7 always tries a local pizza place when traveling. We hate eaten pizza from Chicago, St. Louis, Denver, New York, and quite a few others. This has become a vacation tradition. What we have found is there is nothing better than Lombardi's. We loved the atmosphere and the pizza is second to none. When back in Wichita, KS we were asked about our favorite part of New York and all of us agreed it was Lombardi's. 6 months has past since we have eaten at Lombardi's and we still talk about going back to New York and a stop at Lombardi's. If you are traveling to New York do not pass this great pizza place up. If you live in New York you better get over there to eat, you should know the best pizza in America is in you backyard. Amazing pizza 11/16/2006

I love this place, and I'm lucky enough to be in their delivery area so I order from them quite a bit. The pizza is delicious - the small, spicy pepperonis are amazing and the sausage is quite good as well. I've heard good things about the clam pizza but haven't yet tried it. Great for delivery except in the winter when it'll get cold by the time it gets to your door. Pros: Very tasty pizza Cons: Pricey for pizza more

My Favorite Pizza In Manhattan 11/9/2006

Sweet sauce, fresh toppings, thin crust, somehow it all comes together like no other pizza in New York. Added bonus, they have a wide delivery range so I can get one at my apartment when I'm too lazy to walk to the restaurant. When it comes time to order a pizza, this is always my first thought. more

BEST PIZZA, BEST PEOPLE 10/22/2006

The pizza at Lombardi's is AMAZING. My husband and I visit New York several times a year and visit Lombardi's each and every time. We always order the white pizza and a pepperoni pizza (leftovers are always great!). Back in Baltimore, I find myself craving the white pizza (my favorite) and wishing someone around here made one like it. The staff are always friendly and quick (even when they tell us the wait is 30 minutes, it's often half that long). Pros: Great service, great price, great food - what's not to love? Cons: There isn't one in Baltimore, Maryland! more

Great pizza but warm beer!! 9/29/2006

The pizza here is terrific. Up there with Arturo's and Grimaldi's. But they have to do something about the temperature of the tap beer. It's lukewarm!!!! Last time I was there I saw a customer send his warm beer back. Go for pizza, leave for ice cold beer. Pros: Great pizza! Cons: Faulty thermometer in keg fridge! more

Fantastic pizza!!!!! 9/4/2006

My husband and I have been to Little Italy several times and had never eaten at Lombardi's. I'm so glad we finally did! We were seated promptly and the food was excellent!! The fresh pizza sauce, homemade meatballs and especially the to die for crust were amazing!!! The only complaint I had was the server didn't come around to refill drinks etc without us having to call her repeatedly back to our table, but in fairness the place was busy. Aside from that it was a wonderful experience and if you love pizza this is the place! Pros: Amazing crust, sauce, ambience of the oldest pizza place in America! Cons: Server was very busy and kept forgetting our drinks more

You won't forget it! 8/17/2006

Weeks before coming to New York all I heard from my boyfriend was ""I can't wait for Lombardi's!"" From the moment we walked in the front door everyone was so accommodating. We had two beers in addition to the tomato and mozzarella. When our pizza came out we barely said a word to each other because we couldnt stop eating. So much flavor and freshness! Our server was great, and the atmosphere makes for the most perfect dinning experience. Next time we are in New York, Lombardis will be our first stop! Unforgettable. Don't Miss Lombardi's!! 8/13/2006

Sure there is a lot of great pizza in New York City, but Lombardi's has thee pizza! My neighbor here in Arizona is retired NYPD. When he heard that I was taking my son to Yankee Stadium, he told me NOT TO MISS Lombardi's if I wanted the best pizza I had ever had. I wasn't disappointed. Stellar Pizza...no other pizza can compare 8/10/2006

My husband and I recently visited NY again and my husband insisted our first stop was Lombardi's Pizza! For 2 weeks before our trip all I heard was ""I can't wait to eat at Lombardi's"" WE BOTH LOVED THE PIZZA! It's amazing that you can actually taste tomato and basil on a pizza. Now that we are back in CA our so called ""pizza"" is just so not pizza. I know when we return to NY; Lombardi's will be a main stop again. My husband is now going through Lombardi withdrawals! I have to say I was also impressed with the cleanliness and stellar service of the restaurant. Thanks Lombardi's for allowing my husband to have his picture taken with your 1905 Lombardi's Mosaic in the background. We need you in California Lombardi's!!!! more

Heavenly Pizza 8/6/2006

My father was in New York after 9/11. He work in a Disaster Relief kitchen. His group made meals for workers and others who needed them. A few of his group decided to eat out one night. They asked a ""local"" where was a good place to get pizza. The first name out of their mouth was Lombardi's. They told him the location was neat, the staff fantastic, and the pizza was heavenly. They gave it a try and LOVED it!!! They recommended it to all the other workers in their group. My dad isn't a pizza person, but he hasn't stopped talking about to this day. I was impressed with his being impressed. If we order a pizza, he says ""I wish we were at Lombardi's"". I have recommended Lombardi's to several friends who have visited New York. They all have the same response - WONDERFUL!!!! Pros: Atmoshpere friendly, Staff outstanding, food out of this world more

Nice place to unwind, and eat your heart out. 7/24/2006

Fortuanately, Dad married and Itallian lady, so homemade pizza was as normal as fresh anchovies. Throw in home made sausage made with wine, squid, snales with a fancy name and you got the picture. We ate alot of Sicilian type pies also, so the thin crust at Lombardi's was OK, blackened a bit on the bottom.. I'm used to golf ball sized meatballs so these were OK, a bit salty, not quite enough cheese inside, but that's OK too. Making pies is an individual thing, like an artist at work, so the beauty is in the beholder..and every pie maker is unique, and to me wonderful. I really enjoyed the warm atmosphere, it's definitely a great night out. Pros: Quick friendly Service more

Best Pizza I've Ever Had!! Great Hang Out! 7/23/2006

The atmosphere is casual and but sophisticated. There is alot of history at this place, but it's super hip! It's a really lively place and a great romantic atmosphere as well. The original pizza is awesome! It is sooo good, my mouth is watering! I've never had a pizza quite like this before...the service is quick and friendly and the Italian soda is really good too! You have to try this place out! Especially if you like Pizza...but if you've never had any this is a good place to try it out too! Pros: Quick Service! Cons: None! more

The best pizza I've had. 7/21/2006

I found this restaurant on Citysearch. What a fabulous place. My fiance and I ordered a small with sausage and mushrooms. The pizza had a very thin crust (which I prefer), that was slightly blackened in parts on the bottom, giving it a really wonderful flavor. The sausage was sliced and flavorful, not at all greasy. The mushrooms came in generous slices. The cheese, instead of mixed throughout the pizza, was in fresh warm gooey blobs, complimented by shredded basil. I easily could have had more but the small suited two people just fine. Two small warnings: cash only, and no free refills. With the quality of this pizza, it's worth it. Pros: The best pizza around. The best pizza on earth? 7/16/2006

Living in Finland (Europe), is not the easiest things to do. In my work I visit NYC a couple of times a year and most of the time I spend in Jersey City. Still, there is nothing that can beat Lombardi´s Pizza, it is even worth driving there with a town car. The best pizza I ever tried and the wild mushrooms together with their own tomato suace made many of my days. I highly recomend this place, great food and most important THE great personal service! I will soon be back, even if my name is Pontus J. Back! more

The spot is bustling, the pizza doughy and crispy in all of the right places. The drinks are ice cold and even the table wine is good. It's a cute, fun date spot that won't break your bank account. There is no question this place is a NYC landmark worth visiting time and again. Pros: Excellent pizza, fresh ingredients, good value Cons: Cash only, long wait time. more

May be the best pizza that I have ever tasted. 7/8/2006

My dad saw your restaurant on FoodTV and when I told him I was going to NYC, he said make sure to try Lombardi's Pizza so I got on the site and remembered that I too saw it on TV. I cannot rave enough about this pizza, it is fresh, the crust is so awesome and flavorful. The sauce tastes like what italian pizza sauce should. And then the cheese, fresh and delicious. I cannot wait to go back and I also have been craving it ever since. I am so very glad that I took the time to find it and will never forget my experience. I know that next time I travel to NYC, I will not only eat there but I will take it back to my room for breakfast. Thanks, Lombardis ... keep up the great work. more
