Best pizza I ever had! 8/21/2007

As a native New Yorker who now lives in California I always make it a point to eat as much pizza as I can when visiting NY. The pizza in CA stinks! Anyway on my last trip to NY I tried Lombardi's for the first time and it's definitely the best pizza I've ever had! I just had the plain cheese pizza. The crust is thin and crisp and a little burnt which is eactly the way I like it. The sauce was superb! I'll definitely go whenever I'm in NY. Pros: Excellent pizza at a reasonable price more

Maybe the best 8/12/2007

OK, the pizza here is excellent. Just by tasting it you can tell that it's the most unsuccesfully copied product in the world. The crust and the toppings are superb. The sauce and cheese are excellent but not better than Angelo's (see my review) in Midtown. If you're anywhere near this place it is certainly a great idea for lunch. You can't really rate New York pizza until you've had the one served at Lombardi's. Don't dine alone here unless you're going straight home to put the leftovers in the fridge. Pros: Pizza more

Best Pizza in the City 8/6/2007

Whenever anyone asks me, ""Where's the best pizza you've had in New York?""...well, you get the idea. Honestly, I've only been here once, since I live in Queens, but to me, this place is the epitome of New York City pizza. I recommend the Pizza Margherita (basil, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and garlic). It's simple, but that's what pizza is supposed to be, especially if it's from Little (or Big) Italy. Naturally, with such a historic landmark restaurant, there are long waits for tables. Believe me, though, it's worth it. The interior feels old and charming. There is an upstairs that offers additional seating, so be grateful, otherwise the lines would probably be twice as long. Pros: Best Pizza in NYC, Historic Landmark, Cheap Too! Cons: Long Lines more

Best Pizza Ever 7/6/2007

I thought I had eaten pizza till I came here. Manager and waitress were wonderful. Very friendly. Great service and the best pizza I have ever had. Went to New York for a visit and had to find Lombardis. Can't make another trip to New York without going there. Well worth finding it. Pros: Very good service and food Cons: Sometimes there is a wait for a table more

the pizza is the best I've ever had. Please open a restaurant in AZ!!! 6/21/2007

My family and I were visiting from Arizona and absolutely loved the pizza. We are originally from NJ and it was by far the best sauce ever. Pizza in the west cannot compare to that of the east. But now I can say Lombardis is the best in the country!! Pros: fast service, delicious pizza more

Pizza Nirvana 6/21/2007

Just returned from a glorious summer weekend in New York and am so thankful that we stopped at Lombardi's for pizza and a beer on Saturday afternoon. First of all, don't be put off by the crowd waiting to get in - we were pleasantly surprised - seated in ten minutes. The pizza was absolutely incredible - super fresh toppings - coal oven crust - and the best pepperoni ever! A definite must for any trip to Manhattan! more

Best on the Planet 6/3/2007

This was the absolute best pizza I ever had. The crust was thin and cooked perfectly..dark spots around the perimeter (where the heat from the hot coal oven hissed at the crust) and the sauce was not overdone..it didn't overpower the pizza (like most) but was like a melody of flavors that blended perfectly in every bite.. more

Not Worth It. I have tasted much better 5/22/2007

WHAT a disappointment! I could not wait to see the Famous Lombardi's- but after the quick wait ( I arrived Early) it was still not worth wasting my tastebuds. The pizza was more crust then sauce and cheese. funky shape- pizza should be round, not like a smashed up stop sign. Hey !!! this is NYC -I want real pizza pies that looks and taste like a pizza should. Pros: location Cons: Pizza, price, wait time, more
