I'm a happy customer. Called them because I had a clog in my shower and some really odd stuff come up. To my surprise they had someone come out the same day. Explained that if I didn't want the service I didn't have to pay for the troubleshooting - but I went with them anyway. They fixed my shower and simple as pie I didn't have to worry about nothing anymore. I highly recommend! more

amazing job 5/17/2013

Recently I had several plumbing companies provide me with estimates for a water treatment system. The first company came out, filled an Avon bottle with water and said they would be in touch......never heard back from them. The second company sent a guy who was nice and gave me a price right away but didn't seem to know what he was talking about--he told me I needed a water softener and an acid neutralizer without even testing my water!! I then had FH Furr come out. Their guy actually took the time to test my water for hardness and pH on the spot...allowing me to watch and see the results. The pH was nearly perfect so I didn't need an acid neutralizer (woo hoo!) but the hardness was really high as I suspected. He then explained what causes hard water, its effects and my treatment options. He was able to answer every question I had in a very clear and concise manner. They quoted me a price which seemed competitive but I had another company scheduled to give me a final estimate later tha more

Simply Great. 5/16/2013

Honestly, I see their commercials everywhere. They have a great program that sends a technician out to your home for FREE to diagnose your plumbing problems... I know for a fact other companies charge you up front. Honest, reliable and same day service. F.H. Furr really is absolutely the best. more

Happy Customer 5/13/2013

F.H. Furr has come through for me on several occasions for air conditioning issues, plumbing, issues, and heating issues. The technicians are polite, courteous, clean, and make you aware of issues up front. I continue to call them when problems arise because I know I can depend on them to do the job right. Integrity is essential. more

Excellent Job! 4/25/2013

Curtis Duncan, assisted by Kyle W, did a wonderful job taking care of our plumbing issues today. They quickly diagnosed and fixed the toilet problem that our tenant alerted us to and everything works perfectly. Curtis also did a thorough plumbing inpection to ensure that all other plumbing appliances are in working order...and recommeneded adding moisture detectors under our sinks and near our water heater and replacement of the rubber hoses which were badly kinked and near bursting on our washer. I would definitely ask for Curtis and Kyle for our future plumbing needs! more

serviceman hustleman 4/23/2013

First of all a diagnosis fee of $29 is ridiculous. We have renters in an apt and the hot water heater malfunctioned. we had furr go out and check it. the repairman said he could fix a valve for $500 but said only 1/10 times that was the fix. Instead he tried to sell us a whole new unit for $3000. We decided not to have him repair or replace. We had a second company come out for free and diagnosis the problem. The same valve that furr said could not be replaced, the second company replaced and guaranteed his work for only $350. The second company is like having your own plumber. I would never recommend FH Furr to anyone. This is the kind of stuff that 60 minutes does special reports on. Servicemen trying to rip off customers. That guy needs to be fired. more

Great but Terrible 4/11/2013

We purchased our new Lennox HVAC System through a FH Furr and Costco deal. It was a great price with the rebates. The installers did a professional looking job. Everyone I have ever spoken with at FH Furr has been super nice. That's the great part. The terrible part is they cannot get my AC working. Purchased in March 2011, they first fired up the system and had to return a couple of times to tweak it that summer. The following summer with a pregnant wife at home, they needed to fix what was never properly done the first time. Never fully satisfied with the performance, they ensured me it was running to spec. Okay. Well when I fired it up this year, same exact issues. Now the labor warranty is expired and they want me to pay for them to look at the problem they never fixed right the first and second time. Beware. more

Unsatisfactory Service 3/19/2013

In September 2012 I purchased a new, high-efficiency Lennox gas furnace and A/C system for $8300 from FH Furr, who did the quote and installation. But, as soon as we experienced a hard freeze, the furnace stopped working. Here is the chronological history of our experience: \r \r * Discovered at 3:45 pm. Thermostat at 70. Inside air temp 62 and falling. No furnace. Outside air temp 25 with light snow flurries\r * 3:53 Reported outage to Edith at FH Furr (540) 371-9133\r * 4:29 Called Monica at FH Furr (540) 371-9133 to report smoke alarms were activated. No fire detected. Alarm probably activated by electric space heater or gas logs we turned on. \r * 5:01 Monica called from (571) 488-5496 to inform us the FH Furr repairman was at another house and we were next to be serviced.\r * 5:38 A man called from FH Furr (703) 491-1234 to ask us if it would be OK if the repairman came tomorrow. We said no, we didn't want to spend all night in freezing temperatures without heat.\r * 5:44 We called ( more

Lost a loyal customer 2/9/2013

We have been loyal F.H.Furr customers for over 10 years, using them for all our heating, AC and plumbing needs. If you live in the Wash. DC area you have probably seen the truck with the giant photo of F.H.Furr waving from the back of the truck. In October 2010 they repalced our entire HVAC system with a Lenox system for $9,000.00.\r Aprox. 2 years later, on Sat. 2/2/13 we woke up to a temp of 55 degrees. We tried unsuccessfully to get the thermostat to work. We called F.H.Furr to see if they could get someone to come out. They could not get anyone to come out that Saturday (booked) so the appt. was scheduled for Wed. and I would take the day off work. They could not give me a time but I was told it should be by noon. I told the person the model # of our system and to please make sure the tech had a replacement thermostat with him so the repair could be completed on that day. On Wed., as the day went on, I called 3 times to find out where the tech was and each time repeated that I wou more

Crazy Overpriced 1/8/2013

I had a technician in my home for less than 90 minutes. He cut a PVC pipe and installed an elbow connector to allow for my new garbage disposal to fit (took about 20 minutes), searched for a leak (cut a hole in my ceiling and found leak in less than 20 minutes), and tighted and caulked a bathtub spicket (5 minutes). I was charged $570 for less than an hours worth of work, an elbow connector, and some caulk. My serviceman did inform me of the potential charges and I agreed for the work but F.H. Furr lost a customer. F.H. Furr is way overpriced...I do not recommend and will find another company to service my needs. I have no complaints on the serviceman who was polite and appeared very capable, only the outrageous prices. more

I highly recommend F.H. Furr! I've had such a great experience with their staff and they totally exceeded my expectations. I loved that they were willing to educate me on exactly what kind of work they were doing. Very knowledgable technicians. more

Find another company! 11/13/2012

We were foolish enough to pay the $14 per month for premium service, so that part is definitely our fault. The rest of the tale includes a faulty part being installed on our furnace (which broke three weeks later) and then waiting over a week for the faulty part to be fixed. In fact, we are still waiting. Oh! We also got to wait while the WRONG part was ordered and we also got to hear today that our part was in but that they were not able to find a technician to come and install it. Really? After a week? They seemed a lot more interested in coming out for repairs when there was a chance of getting paid. more

Greedy, Dishonest, Lazy, and/or Dumb Service. 5/19/2012

I too had a service agreement; called in because the pilot light on my water heater would not stay on. A plumber came within one hour of my call. He looked at the water heater and told me that I needed to replace the gas valve and that it would cost approximately $475 for the work to be done (labor only) and it would take an hour. I was not happy with this and decided to have a second opinion. Turns out the most common problem in these circumstances is the thermocouple -- in our case the thermocouple did not even need to be replaced -- simply cleaned and reattached. The repairman did not bother to remove the thermocouple -- and apparently it was not cleaned during the most recent maintenance checks either. It took less than 10 minutes to fix by someone without any plumbing experience, no parts were needed. The valve did not need to be to touched. Needless to say, I have cancelled the agreement and will not be using this company again. more

MR FURR - PLEASE READ THIS 12/12/2011

I had to take a day off from work for a $12,000+ installation of a furnace and A/C unit. A few days later I noticed a problem. Had to take another day off from wok for the rep to diagnose the problem and order a replacement part. I told him at the time that I did not want to take a third day off from work for the part to be installed. When the part came in, they told me they did not do Saturday appointments for installations. The rep said she would need to talk with her manager and call me back. She never did. A week later I spoke with their chat representative and was told the person who could help was not at her desk, and would call back "sometime today". Several other emails regarding my rebate have also gone unanswered. I have had a service agreement with Furr for some time now. Apparently that counts for nothing in the service department. more

Terribly Overpriced 8/8/2011

Stay away from this company. I moved into my townhome about a year ago and since the previous owners had dealt with F H Furr (there were F H Furr stickers all over the water heater, HVAC, and they had tags on seemingly every water line I could find) I decided to call them about a maintenance contract for my HVAC system. Over the phone, it sounded fine - only about $14 per month and they would come out twice a year and check my system. My system was twelve years old and I knew that it was likely showing its age, so I did expect that they would find some things needing service beyond the normal maintenance call. The technician that showed up was very professional, even to the point of putting on little shoe "booties" (company policy) so as not to mess up my carpet. After about 20 minutes of looking at my system he had made a list of service "issues" that he said needed to be done. Since I had a maintenance contract with them, I got the "value price', which was 15% lower than their more

Horid Plumbers 2/2/2011

Deceitful billing practices, not to mention horrible plumbers.\r \r Their warranty's not worth the paper it's printed on, and they'll botch the job so bad they'll have to keep coming back to make service calls. Since your warranty's not worth a thing, you'll be stuck with the bill each time.\r \r They're a bunch of liars and cheats. Use someone else. more

Good Work 1/24/2011

My Negative Experience With F.H. Furr 9/7/2010

This is my experience. In no way am I trying to defame or slanderize F.H. Furr, I am simply giving my account. I live in Woodbridge, VA. On Sept 6, 2010 I was attempting to replace an outdoor faucet. Unfortunately the pipe twisted and snapped about 15 inches inside my house. Thankfully I had already turned the water off. After looking for an emergency plumber on the internet I mistakenly settled on F.H. Furr seeing as how they are a large company, they should be able to handle it no problem. One $150 emergency fee later, the plumber showed up and proceeded looking around my kitchen and bathroom trying to find out how to get to the broken end of the pipe. I told him the pipe ran into the house and toward the bathtub hookups and that to get to the pipe we needed to remove my fiberglass shower wall. After telling him several times that the water was shut off when I was doing the work, and the location of the broken pipe, he finally agreed that the pipe must run behind the bathtub. My show more
