Editorial review from Citysearch 10/2/2012

Bad experience with a Groupon. The owner was horribly rude and the fine print is only in the favor of Cook's World. Saw they're offering another groupon this morning and felt inclined to warn others before they get duped. I'm glad Groupon still cares about the customer and I was able to get my money back. more

STAY AWAY!! This place is awful! ""Hands-on"" is a joke you get to laugh at while sitting in folding chairs. Nancy, the owner, is cold and abrasive. Don't expect to get a good deal from any money you spend here. Retail prices are obscene, even after the class ""discount"" and the cost of classes is way overpriced for what you get. I won't go near this school again, not with a forty foot pole. Also, I noticed shopping bags from TJ Maxx with store merchandise inside! Judging from the prices I think this woman buys products from discount stores and more than doubles the price she paid when she sells them! more

Beware the GROUPON coupons with this shady business 11/9/2011

BEWARE THEIR GROUPON DEAL--good luck if you bought a Groupon for Cooks World classes. What's not in their fine print is that they will only sell half their 14 class spots to Groupon holders, so if you have a few people in your group, you'll have trouble registering month after month. Don't you think that that particular policy ought to be shared when you first look at the deal. It's been 3 months and my friends and I can't seem to get into a class still. What a deal--NOT. I'm sure they'll still enforce their expiration date--Groupon's starting to be a better and better deal...for Cook's World. more

Great Cooking Class! 9/22/2011

Without hesitation, I signed my boyfriend and I up for the ""Tamales and More Class"". I've always wanted to take a cooking class and this seemed like the perfect opportunity. I was worried that I was forcing my boyfriend into attending but before I knew it, he was volunteering to help the chef and asking lots of questions. With the location being so close to U-Village, we were able to stop at Starbucks and walk around before. It ended up being a great date night. They even provided the recipes so we can try to re-create them at home on our own! Here's to lots of Sangria, Salsa and Tamales!! more

Cook's World Gives You Confidence 9/11/2011

I took the several week course ""Cooking for Busy People"" at Cook's World. Each week has a different subject, such as poultry or salads or sauces. It was fun and informative with just the right combination of hands-on and demonstration. Each class has a set of recipes of the dishes covered plus a couple more. I came away from the class with exactly what I had come there for, namely a basic grounding in cooking a full range of dishes. It has really enhanced what my wife and I eat at home now. It also has given me the confidence I needed to take more cooking classes and make cooking a fun part of our lives. Highly recommended. more

Register Now....Not Later for a Class! 9/10/2011

I took two series of cooking classes for busy people and I wished there were another series of classes from Nancy. I enjoyed every class and I learned a whole new way of cooking healthy meals to last me a lifetime. Nancy is a fantastic teacher! She has the technical expertise of a trained chef and the passion of someone who loves what she does with people. She is able to give her students a framework that allows people to think about cooking in a whole new dimension. I am a diabetic and taking Nancy's classes has allowed me to understand how I can manage my chronic disease in a healthy manner by expanding my choices of food and flavoring my recipes with herbs in place of salt and sugar. Thanks, Cook's World. You are the best!!!"" more

Cooks World ( The Greatest ) 8/17/2010

Having been hands on active in four classes and in my words ( Thank You Nancy and guest Chefs ! ). I've always enjoyed cooking and I'm always watching the food channels to gain cooking ideas, TV is a good source of information BUT! you miss the point. It's all about seeing, hearing, touching, SMELLLLLing and TAAAASTE! It dosn't get any better than that. My wife and I have found Cooks World to be the perfect educator, not only do you learn, You also get hands on and taste bud satisfaction for what you made. And to top it off you get Geat Recipes for everything. The rewards are terrific. more

love Cook's World 5/18/2010

Cook's World is one of my favorite local businesses. I have taken 2 cooking series here (The Basics of Cooking for Busy People (12 wks), and Baking 101 (4 wks)), several one night cooking classes (Knife Skills, Spices, French Cooking, and Italian Cooking), and the Wine 101 workshop, and I have always enjoyed my experience with this store. Having started out my adventures in cooking only a few years ago with an extremely sparse kitchen, I've pretty much outfitted my entire kitchen with products from Cook's World and so far I've been extremely happy with the quality of everything I've purchased in the last few years. I would definitely recommend Cook's World to anyone interesting in cooking classes in the Seattle area. Pros: fun classes, great instructors more

Have fun and learn to cook 5/13/2010

I?ve taken several classes at Cook?s World both from the owner and from her guest chefs. I?ve entertained friends by taking them to classes and we?ve always had a wonderful time and the food excellent and plentiful. The owner is very knowledgeable, passionate about teaching and very attentive to her students. I am now very comfortable giving dinner parties and preparing good food for myself and friends, whereas before I was just about eating whatever was available, which was not usually a good food choice. The classes always speak to using good quality ingredients, promoting buying local and the safe handling and storage of food. The recipes provided are wonderful and easy to follow and include no weirdo ingredients as you would find from a recipe in food and wine magazine. more

Best classes are here...... 5/12/2010

I've taken many cooking classes in and around Seattle and I've found the ones I took here to be the most educational. I have learned so much...in particular ,the Knife Skills class was a complete confidence & skill builder. Pros: high-quality instructors, friendly & helpful staff. more

Eat before you go. 8/27/2008

I took my husband there for our anniversary... thought it would be something new, fun, creative AND we get to eat our work! Not the case. I signed us up for the Turkish Cooking Class. The chef was wonderfully kind and warm, but all her special ingredients were brought back from her annual visits to Turkey. Key ingredients we can't get here in America, and items she admitted she can't find in specialty stores either. So how do we recreate these recipes at home? We have to ""search on websites to find the spices""... Pros: Super friendly chef... Cons: See laundry list above.... more

Never again... 2/9/2007

My best friend and I give each other cooking classes at Cook's World for our birthdays each year. That is until this year... My friend had a family emergency the night before our scheduled class at Cook's World... Her Grandmother was in the hospital and was given the next 24 hours to live. Of course I told her to not worry, even though I had paid $130 in advance for the class I was sure the friendly people at Cook's World would understand her family emergency prevented us from attending class and they'd gladly re-schedule us to another class. After all, this was the last thing I wanted my friend to worry about. Unfortunately that was not the case. When I phoned them to explain the circumstances they coldly replied, ""Sorry, we have a 1 week cancellation policy"". When I explained we didn't want our money back, we simply wanted to reschedule and that no one told me about the 1 week cancellation policy when I signed up for the class on the phone the response was ""Well, it's on the website, there's nothing we can do for you. It looks like you have 2 tickets on your hands."" I was shocked. No matter how many times I explained that this was a gift for my friend, that I loved their classes, that her Grandmother was dying in the hospital and that I genuinely did not known about their policy, she would not work with me. As far as she was concerned, she had my $130 and had no obligation to help me, the customer. Needless to say, I will NEVER spend a dollar in Cook's World ever again. I lost $130 and they lost 2 long-term customers and with that approach to customer service, I am sure they will loose many more. Pros: Great guest chefs! Cons: Customer service horror story! more
