whoevers speaking good 3/11/2009

Honestly I believe the people that are writing the "good" reviews are either the owners themselves or people that have been paid by them all of my experiences with them were negative. they don't value input from their employees, they don't truly care for the animals, their only concern truly is the money. If you doubt what I'm saying sit outside their store for a while listen to how they speak to their employees and the pets that go through their store when they believe no one is around Pros: none Cons: just about everything more

horrific, and i'm not the only one who thinks so 12/21/2008

in a word: horrid! i used to take my dog to day care here, despite the bad reviews i've read. a couple of months ago i showed up early to pick up my dog to hear someone YELLING at the dogs to "SHUT UP!". excuse me? isn't this a doggie day care? this "spa" is supposed to be upscale? try low budget. the dogs don't get to run around and play, they are stuck in tiny rooms and yelled at if they bark! the place is a mess with retail propduct everywhere! my dog is also afraid of the new groomer, Tina. i wonder why? i know of two other people who had similar experiences with this spa and won't go there again. do yourself a favor and take your best friend to Doggie Daycare on Lighthouse just a couple of blocks away. the owner is a true animal lover and will treat your pooch like her own. Pros: cute decor Cons: expensive, not fun for the dogs, not true animal lovers, just in it for the money more

Stay Away From This Doggie Daycare 8/27/2008

If you care about the well being of your dog, do not bring him or her to this day care! I have used them several times for doggie day care and was very satisfied. over the past couple of months, my dog and i have built a relationship with the day care manager and the groomer. my dog loved it there so much that she would tug on the leash to get inside! she loved the girls there and barely noticed when i would walk out the door because she was too busy playing with her familiar friends! once in awhile i would have her bathed or groomed and the groomer that they hired a couple of months ago did a fantastic job! i was so happy that I'd finally found a full-service spa where everyone loved my dog! Unfortunately, things have changed. In the last week the staff has changed and the woman who manages the place now is incompetent and rude. I had noticed the owners were a little rude but dealt with it because I really liked the employees. This new day care/groomer treats my dog like a burden she has to bear, she puts her in one of the rooms with a few other dogs and pays no attention to her. She doesn't play with her and doesn't seem to know what she's been doing during her stay there. I am skeptical she ever gets walked now and I don't get the feeling that dogs are her passion like the girls that used to work there. This new woman doesn't talk to my dog when she arrives, it's straight into the room and not gently, I might add. I have witnessed how this woman (I think her name is Tammy or Tina, something starting with a "T") is rough with the dogs. One of the owners is there a lot now and when walking up to the door I have heard him screaming at the dogs to shut up and stop barking (isn't this a doggie day care?!). I'd hate to see how he treats them when no one is around! These are not people I would leave my best friend with. There is a Doggie Daycare up the street who will now be getting my business! It's sad to see this place go downhill so fast. Pros: Cute place Cons: Rude staff and owners, not dog lovers, dogs are locked in rooms and not played with more

Dog friendly service, Quality merchandise, 6/3/2008

I had been looking for the perfeet backpack for my dog for several months before I found it at Chateau Le Paws For the same price as the backpacks at "dog marts" I found one that looks good, fits good and most important -- it has safety features and durability needed for a good hike . As a local, I had thought of Chateau Le Paws as a dog-and people-friendly shop for gift and luxury items But after finding Such a perfect fit in a practical item, I realize what a valuable asset this shop is to the Row more

Chateau le Paws 5/26/2008

I travel alot for work, so for out-of- town entertainment I love shopping at Mom & Pop pet stores when visiting other cities. After reading the reviews of Chatear le Paws I couldn't wait to see for myself, when I finally got to work in Monterey. I have disagreed with some reviewers before but, WOW, I was completely surprised on how nice this store was. I met Joanne, and she was very friendly and knowledgable. They had a great selection of doggie products, not as much for cats. It was a bright clean store and I did not see one fly in the baked dog biscuits. The prices were also not as bad as I thought they were going to be and the quality of the products were very good. I will definitely stop in if I'm ever in Monterey again. My guess is that a disgruntled employee wrote the review. Pros: Thumbs Way Up!!!!! more

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY 4/22/2008

First of all, the owner is a greedy women only concerned with how she can profit and screw others over. When you first go into the store located in Cannery Row, it looks like a typical tourist oriented & over priced shop. But once you walk further in, you realize it is absolutely stupid. A dog jacket for $300 or a dog bed for over $350... are you kidding me. The owner seems nice at first, and so does her lazy young male employee, but when they are to busy reading or talking on the phone to even bother looking at you, you get the idea that you could steal all the juicy couture charms and not even get the workers attention. There was a very nice young lady working there for a while in March 2008, and I honestly looked at how hard she was working (cleaning, organizing) when I was sitting on a bench along the bike path that the store is next to, it now appears she isnt working there anymore... I wouldnt be surprised since everyone else that works there is a lazy and selfish money hungry person. The products are not that great, I bought a exspensive leather collar there and it broke after a few weeks of taking my dog for a walk. The store is aimed for stupid tourists trying to fit in with the "pebble beach lifestyle" of pampering their pets, but the trth is, you would have to be knocked out and drugged to even be in the right state of mind to buy a $4.00 dog cookie that flies have been crawling over for days, or a $225 dog collar with REAL GOLD COLORED PAINT on the charm. Joanne (the owner) never returns calls regarding orders and the people she hires for the spa have no more experience then a 5 year old kid. ITS A JOKE and they are playing a pretty good joke on you if you actually do business with them. I would bring your dog to Doggie Day care on Central Avenue if you need a daycare and try a store like PetsMart or petco if you are looking for dog products or a groomer. Pros: good place to waste your money Cons: not worth the annoyance of trying to find a parking spot, the store isnt worth it more

extreme prices, awful service, mistreatment by owner, lack of knowledge, not a great selection 11/22/2007

lazy service. owner did not return mutliple calls in regards to items requested in a custom order book that a girl took down, obviously they do not care about a profit or being professional.. also worried me that when i went in there were flys in the treat case. flys? do they not clean? i would not eat something that insects were by, and i would not give treats to my pets that came from a case with insects. that is disgusting! and not healthy.over priced, not high quality. much better places in monterey to go. spa is not to be trusted with animals, unlicensed people working with animals. spa is overpriced and not open convient hours, does not have a regular groomer, there is always an excuse as to why i can't bring in my dog when it fits my schedule. dogs are not handled appropriately when in spa, the staff at the spa or the store is not professional, do not care to be there. when i have gone in they guy working did not even offer to help me look. he stayed behind the counter. have been to the store on cannery row, not carmel, after being poorly treated at that location i would never go to the carmel location, i also have been told it is closing. would stay away and spend my money someplace else. boutique does not feel like a boutique, set up like a cheapy tourist store.. would much rather go someplace where i am treated well and my pets are too. chateau le paws is a place to stay away from. Pros: none Cons: customer service, selection, pricing, treatment of animals more

For Paws Only 5/27/2006

Chateau le Paws has been an invaluable find for my taste for quality upscale pet pampering products. They offer high-quality items for the pet, with a canine cafe' & kitty kaviar, home fashions, gifts for the pet lover at reasonable prices. The unique fair is in offering items from around the world. They even cater private pet birthday parties. The customer service was pleasurable with such a responsive and helpful approach. Even when working with multiple customers the owners are attentive to ensure you leave feeling good about your purchase. It is, therefore, with a great pleasure that I extend the appreciation and thanks to CHATEAU LE PAWS for opening in the Crossroads Plaza, Carmel, next to a coffie house for simplicty of access and with such a passion for pets even in their telephone number (831) 626-PAWS. Pros: Excellent Prices, Pets congregate, Unique Items Cons: Crowded more
