As most people, I was very nervous about hiring a moving company to move all my precious cargo from NYC to L.A. I some how stumbled upon California New York Express, I suppose it was the name that drew me in since I was moving to and from those exact places. I did my research on them and luckily everything came out positive. They are completely legit, have an A+ on BBB, are up to date with their insurance and are insured for what they actually advertise (you'll be surprised how many ""moving companies"" I found that are actually only insured for things like feed, logs and hay... seriously) I called and John Filyan was my representative. He was more then happy to answer any of my questions and concerns at any time. He would respond to my emails, phone calls, and voice mails ASAP which was very appreciative. He even said if I had less or more items I was originally quoted for I could email him the day before and he'd change it for me. On the day of the move I wasn't sure what to expect, but all 4 guys were great. They went over all the paper work with me, let me know how the moving process was, and suggested how things should be packaged for maximum protection. My biggest fear was being up charged the day of the move, but the guys never did nor did I ever feel that pressure. I did end up having to pay a bit extra for the packaging of all my mirrors and 46' TV, but I supposed I would. My boyfriend and I sat back and watched while the guys turned flat boxes into amazing protective shields for all my mirrors. They wrapped everything in blankets, taped everything to death, and put a number on each item with my name on it. I had asked for my stuff to arrive ASAP, which meant 7-10 business days. They arrived in 7 and I got daily emails about its current location and progress. Once they arrived in LA I got a call from Peter, the dispatcher, and he asked me when would be best for me to get my stuff. We arranged for the following day. The guys came on time and got right to unloading. They gave me a check list and would call out each item number so I could check off each box as they came in the house. Everything arrived! They were helpful about moving furniture around till I had it in a place I liked. The only reason I am giving this review 4 stars is because my one complaint is that some of my boxes came back with torn holes, a bit smashed, and some had opened up from the bad tape I had used. Luckily nothing was broken and or stolen. But other than that, everything else went so smoothly. Exactly as I wanted! I was just moving a master bedrooms worth of stuff with an entertainment center and it came out to $1400. I would DEFINITELY recommend this company to friends and family!
