Don't throw your money away on laser hair removal here! 8/31/2009

I bought a laser hair removal package on two areas. I went faithfully every 5-6 weeks for 8 months for the treatments as told to do. Near the end of my package, I explained to the doctor's wife (because she is the one that does the treatments) that I had not noticed any difference and that I was still having to shave as before. They offered 2 additional treatments on one area. It's been several months since my last treatment and I still see no difference in the hair growth. As a matter of fact, I still have to shave my legs as I did before I spent all that money and time on treatments that did not work at all. Also, I went in for a bikini wax since that treatment area was a failure as well, I should have known better after my previous experiences there but I thought its a waxing how can they mess that up. Not only would I not recommend going there for laser hair removal, I would strongly urge you to seek waxing services else where as well!! Cons: No organization at front desk more

Great place! 8/19/2009

I got my first facial at Blue River. Upon checking in, I was impressed with how clean the front room was. The atmosphere is TOTALLY relaxing and I felt those around me cared about me being comfortable. Annette did my facial and it felt wonderful. If you've never had a facial, you won't believe how smooth and fresh you face feels afterward. I give the whole experience an A+. Pros: Great Service, Professional Staff Cons: None more

just an alright spa 7/7/2009

I have been to this spa twice in the past 4 years, and my experience was similar both times. The staff was extremely varied in their levels of professionalism. The receptionists were standoffish and very unhelpful both times I went, while the pedicurist was extremely friendly--almost overly friendly and slightly nosy for an "upscale" spa such as this one. My second visit was the deal breaker, though. Only in Tennessee would a manicurist start rambling on about her mobile home. She was friendly and sweet and did a decent job, but I really expected a more relaxing experience both times. more

love this place!!!! 7/5/2009

Since I've been going to this spa (massage, pedicures) I refuse to go elsewhere! Pros: fabulous atmosphere, feel secluded more

Very relaxing and nurturing environment 6/12/2009

When I booked my massage, I initially wanted to be with a woman masseuse. When they didn't have that available, I decided to go for it and to try out a man. I was in desperate need of a massage! When the masseuse, named Steve, came out, I was very nervous. I am pretty sure that Steve picked up on that because he did everything he could to make me feel at ease. When I finally relaxed, it was the best massage I've ever had! I don't think that I will ever see a woman again. Steve has got me hooked! I will definitely be back. :) Pros: Steve! Cons: A little pricey but well worth it more

Wonderful! 5/12/2009

Very great place- They must take great care of their staff because they all do a wonderful job! Beautiful place, it is like a tranquil maze. Leigh- anne is fabulous- and Missy- very knowledgable on skin. I am a mother of 3 and could not have asked for a better escape. Pros: Great Staff Cons: a tad pricy more

Absolutely one of the best spas I've been to 4/27/2009

I visited Blue River Canyon for a day of stress relief and found a haven. A day of total relaxation. The staff were all very knowledgable and very precise at their at specialty. It was a wonderful experience and I will definitely recommend it to all of my friends and coworkers. more

A fabulous place for a spa experience 4/26/2009

I came all the way from Texas for this special treat, and I wasn't disappointed. A salt glow left my skin feeling smooth and silky and all my tension was relieved by the great massage that followed. A fabulous facial left my skin glowing and refreshed. An entire day of pampering, well worth the trip. An attentive staff, delicious lunch and a luxurious atmosphere awaits those who choose this outstanding spa. Thanks for a wonderful experience. I'll be back! Pros: Total relaxation and pampering Cons: None more

You are just a number 4/25/2009

Horrible service, rude girls up front....not worth a second out of your life. Will never return! Lousy bath....dirty....cold tranquility room which is A JOKE.....hardly tranquil.....sheets that seemed dirty on the bed.....yuk...yuk....never will I ever return... Pros: Can't think of one Cons: The entire establishment more

Rush you in, rush you out 4/25/2009

Rude people...rush you in and out...cut your times short....no caring professionals or skilled technicians or masseuses in this place! Don't waste your time or money! Pros: Not worth the money Cons: Not worth the time more

Wonderful experience- Cathy and Kellye are great! 4/19/2009

Went to Blue River Canyon a few weeks ago to treat myself after a promotion. I have been to MANY high end day spas in the US due to job travel- This was in my top 2 favorite spa experiences. The prices are a bit higher than other area spas- but the added $5- 10 is worth the extra effort that the professionals put into their work- you can tell that they really care about making sure the client has an unforgettable experience. I received a wonderful facial from Kathy Spears who had a very relaxing touch and my skin looked 5 years younger afterward! Very knowledgeable! After my facial, I was ready for my massage! The heated table and relaxing music are instantly calming- Kelly Croft was my Massage therapist and she had the perfect combination of firm/ deep pressure in the areas that needed it and a deeply calming flow. I can honestly say this is the BEST massage I have ever had (I have been getting regular massage for 8 years)! Perfect flow and pressure, a natural talent. They also have a Eucalyptus steam room- ahh! I give them a ten. I normally don't post reviews but I feel that this is well deserved. They are lucky to have such well trained professionals. I will be back! Pros: friendly staff, warm and inviting, top of the line services Cons: none- they live up to their reputation more

Could be better 3/29/2009

I have been visiting this spa regularly for years and have always enjoyed my experience there. However, to my surprise, the service has declined in recent months. The spa has concentrated for many months on expanding the number of treatment rooms, but has neglected the little things that made it special like offering bottled water, chocolates, and a delicious scrub to enjoy during the hydrotherapy soak. That has now been reduced to a cup of (tap?) water, granola bar, sponge, but no scrub rendering the sponge useless. I was very disappointed with my most recent experience and hope that they return their focus to what made them successful to begin with... customer service. more

Great experiance for my first massage! 1/27/2009

I went to blue river canyon for the first time this past week. This would be my first time for a professional massage (Gift Card). I had the impression of snobby people rushing me though the process but was instead greeted warmly by the receptionists. I wasn't sure what I really wanted and they happily answered my questions. When it was time for my massage I was greeted by Kelly who was very friendly. My thought after the massage was "how did I go this long without getting a massage". I fell asleep! I didn't think I would be able to relax because I was so nervous going in. Overall my experience was great! Blue River Canyon totally changed my perception of what a day spa is supposed to be like. Nothing like they are on TV. I will absolutely be booking another massage! Pros: Great personalities, friendly staff. Cons: The lobby Chairs (I'm nit picking) more

Wonderful Experience 1/25/2009

I usually don't take the time to write these sort of reviews. But I had such a wonderful experience at Blue River Canyon that I thought I would share it with everyone else. My day started with a hydrotherapy bath, followed by a massage and a facial. All three services were wonderful and the staff was nothing but nice to me. They made me feel right at home. As a single mother of three, my life can be pretty hectic at times. It was amazing to be able to take some time for myself and spend it getting pampered. The spa was beautiful and the massage and facial were fantastic. I would highly recommend Blue River Canyon to anyone who wants to feel pampered and refreshed! Pros: Services and Staff Cons: Parking can be a little crazy at times more

Not worth the money 1/23/2009

After a terrible massage with Kelly, the "Spa Director" Denise was rude when I complained about the service. She explained to me that she loved Kelly's massages and that massages are like haircuts sometimes they aren't exactly what you expect??!?! Not sure what that means. After I indicated that I wanted to leave the nail tech a $10 tip, Denise decided that she could give me a $10 discount on the massage. ??? Rachel, I hope you got your tip! I'm not their biggest client, but I've spent close to $700.00 there in the last couple of months. I've been a client for 5 years and I have never once complained about one thing. I hope they miss my business, because I won't be back. In a down economy, they offer a totally non essential service and argue with a good customer. Wonder how long that is going to work for them?? PS : they have stopped giving bottled water to clients. Water is now distributed in little dixie cups. Nice. Pros: easy to get to Cons: Snotty staff, overpriced more

For Women, Not For Men 12/25/2008

Weird vibe. Stepford Wivesish. Very attractive staff. Nice outward appearance in the store/waiting area but felt like I was on an assembly line. I received a $300 dollar gift certificate and was anticipating a relaxing pampering visit. Instead the massage room was very hot and the therapist made me feel like I was a perv for wanting my legs to peak out from under the sheet when they were the ones keeping things so hot. The massage therapist was more torture, less nurture. My hunch is that it is a great place for women but that most men would be able to relax better elsewhere. Pros: Hydrotherapy Bath Cons: We prefer women, vibe more

Terrific Skin Care 8/13/2008

I came to Blue River in early July to get a facial. I am in my forties and am struggling with breakouts and the appearance of sun damage. The spa was immaculate and everyone extremely friendly. The girl who did my facial did a very thourough examination of my skin first and recommended a Benefactor Peel. I was unsure, but took her advice. I felt a welcome difference as soon as the next day. Much of my oily areas had dried up. She also recommended a few Cosmedix products for my hyperpigmentation areas and a good moisturizer that would not break me out. Today (August) my skin looks and feels smoother than it has in over a year. The products were a bit expensive but the results have been phenomenal. Pros: Smart Staff, The Greatest Products more

Not Recommended 7/17/2008

I received a $200 gift card for Christmas, so decided to use it. I scheduled a $70 dollar one hour facial from the menu I received with my gift card. The facial lasted all of 42 minutes. And here's the breakdown of time spent: 7 minutes completing paperwork, 15 minutes spent with the aesthetician?s hands on my face, 12 minutes relaxing in facial room alone, 15 minute product explanation. Then another 15 minutes was spent checking out because their prices had increased 64% since December when I received my gift card. The new receptionist mentioned to her manager she was going to call me back to make sure I knew what I had signed up for, but never did. The manager then took the entire gift card for my services that day. I?m so glad I had the gift card, as I would never pay that price for the service I received. In my opinion, there are so many wonderful, relaxing spas in Nashville, and unfortunately, Blue River Canyon is not one of them. more

Get your massage from JAMIE he is the best! 4/19/2008

I have been to BRC day spa 10 times and I always get jamie to do my massages, he is great. He applies the right amount of pressure and the massage is consistant every time. The last time I went I added the whirlpool soaking bath before my massage, and it was nothing more than a homemade bath, no special bath oils or scents and the candles were nearly all burned out. The only thing I did not like was the cashier asking me "do you want to add a tip" I did but I felt a more applicable questions should have been how was your services... Ask for Jamie he is great! Pros: Jamie the Massage therapist Cons: alittle bit better waiting area is needed more privacy more

Brooke is AMAZING! 2/7/2008

I had never had a wax before and she made the entire experience so comfortable! She is wonderful! I was so happy with the results. She's not limited to waxes, she does facials, etc. I high suggest she be the lady you see at Blue River! Pros: Service, atmosphere, professional more
