They have Jan Marini! 7/12/2007

I recently moved to Nashville and was searching for Jan Marini products. My aesthetician in San Francisco introduced me to this product line, which is amazing. The person that assisted me at BRC was very helpful; she even suggested another store for a product line BRC doesn't sell. I am looking forward to going back for a facial. I hope to up my rating to 5 starts afterwards. Pros: Jan Marini facial care! and Jane Iredale makeup Cons: out of the way for me more

Wonderful day spa environment, professional and friendly. 6/7/2007

After receiving a gift card, I decided to book a package to get the most use out of my time at Blue River for a first time visit. I was very pleased with my experience there, I received a hydrotherapy bath, massage and facial, all of which were amazing and very relaxing. The staff was very pleasant and professional and never tried to push any products on me. The facialist only recommended products for me after I talked with her about my skin needs and there was no pressure to buy anything. A good tip though: Go early in the week in the morning, if you can, there will hardly be anyone else there and you will get all the attention you want. Pros: Great service, ambience, price. Cons: May be busy on weekends or afternoons. more

"Human Error" 5/26/2007

After a stressful week, I scheduled myself for an all day spa package at the Blue River Canyon Spa. I was taken to the relaxation room, were I was told that someone would be with me in 15 minutes. After an hour had passed I went to the front desk and asked if there was a problem. I was told that a "human error" had been made on the schedule and my first session was not scheduled for another 45minutes. I was offered lunch and told that I would need to wait another 40-45 minutes. I asked if somone could possibly work me in sooner since I had plans for the evening. I was rudely told the staff was on lunch or with other clients. I understand "human error" but no effort was made to problem solve or correct the error. Since I was treated so rudely I asked for a refund and spent my money at a nicer spa with friendlier staff. Pros: Great Atmosphere Cons: Poor Service more

Wonderful way to spend an afternoon 5/6/2007

I first discovered Blue River Canyon online while living in California and looking for a present for my mother who lives locally. She loved the place and, after recently returning to Nashville, I learned why. What a relaxing retreat! The staff is pleasant, knowledgable and accomodating and the setting is so serene. My facial, massage and hydrotherapy session were wonderful and I felt pampered the entire time. The products my aesthetician recommended have proven to be very beneficial and were not things I would have found on my on. I can't wait to schedule another apppointment. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing more

when they are on, they are on......when they are off, they are WAY OFF!!!! 4/10/2007

i decided to treat my sis to a massage and Kitty is an amazing therapist, however...my massage was not as great. it started out good...until my ears got rubbed 3 different times and my temples 4 different times. and the pressure was not consistent. the areas that i asked to have worked more than other areas, were not. half of the massage was light, "tickle" massage and i like firm to deep work. none the less, i was disappointed to the point where i don't think i will ever go back. massage is too expensive to have someone do a half-ass job on you. Pros: nice office, Cons: not on time, quick to boot you out more

Poor customer service 3/12/2007

Today, I was scheduled for an all day spa package at the Blue River Canyon Spa. My appointment was scheduled for 1045. I arrived to the Spa at 1040. Shortly after I arrived, I was called back for the Hydro therapy soak. After a 15 minute soak, I was taken to the relaxation room, were I was told that someone would be with me in 15 minutes. After an hour had passed I went to the front desk and asked if there was a problem. I was told that my first session was not scheduled until 1245 due to "human error". I was offered lunch and told that they would be ready for me in another 40-45 minutes. I asked if somone could possibly work me in sooner since I had plans for the evening. I was rudely told the staff was on lunch or with other clients. I understand "human error" but I feel that little effort was made to problem solve and correct the error. I was expected to wait another 40-45 minute when the therapists were not even asked if they could take me early. I didn't want to wait so I was given a full refund. The refund will be used at another Spa with better scheduling practices. more

Started off bad but ended Great 1/22/2007

I have to say first I will definetely visit this spa again. I do a spa trip twice a year to different locations...arizona is my favorite but I have been searching the local spas and I am now finding that they really have gotten better. With the money I'm saving not traveling I can go to the spa once a month. Now saying that here is my review: I signed up for the Tranquility Package which included a Hydrotherapy Soak as well as a 60 minute massage. The Hydrotherapy room was beautiful and very relaxing. They took the extra steps of nice candles, great tub with relaxation light, relaxing cd, bottle of water, robe and slippers. Unfortunately the people who were in the room across the hall were not very considerate to the fact that they were not in a normal salon where talking at high volumes is okay. The entire time (1/2 hour) I was soaking I got to hear an entire conversation. I really wanted to hear the relaxing cd but instead turned on the very loud jets in the tub to drown out the talking. This is normally my favorite experience at the spa just starts off the day of right. Not this time Finally it was time to head to the tranquility room only to find out I was going to be rushed immediately to the massage room. Normally an hour massage just doesn't seem long enough to me...not this time! I have to say this was the absolute best massage I have ever received. Hands down...the best. It seemed to go on forever and I really felt like I had been there more than an hour. Which is the way you should feel when you walk out. I would recommend this spa to anyone. But make sure you request a quiet room for your soak (one that isn't across from the pedicure room). more

Hair removal dissapointing...but highly recommend 10/15/2006

This spa has a very nice environment. I would highly recommend this to everyone for massages and other services outside of hair removal for dark pigmented women. I was dissapointed to be told following my arrival that the hair removal service could not be extended to me due to their equipment not being suitable to treat women with dark pigment. As an African American woman, I would not have been offended by the question and would have appreciated not making the time off work and the drive to Brentwood. I suggest that spa reservationists verify whether the potential customer has light or dark pigmented skin prior to confirming an appointment for hair removal. Please be sure to ask questions, that maybe the staff at this spa would be overly sensitive to bring up. I do like this spa and will visit it for other types of services. Pros: massages Cons: hair removal more

great nail tech 10/11/2006

I had a mani/pedi with Lindsey, and she is by far the best I have ever had! She took the time to really scrub my feet and the massage was great! My feet have never felt so soft. She was very professional and polite and allowed me to relax. If you are wanting a great nail tech- go see Linds, my polish still looks great even after 3 1/2 weeks. Pros: nice, clean nail room more

Do it THEIR Way 9/8/2006

First visit was average. For my mani/pedi the manicurist clearly wanted to get off earily and rushed through it-not very relaxing, although the mani/pedi was adequate. For second visit, I wanted to book an 8 woman bridal party on a Friday morning. They wouldn't bend their rules about only 1 hour massages on Fridays so would not accomodate us. For the money and time spent, Brentwood offers other day spas that are pampering, relaxing and WILL work with you. Pros: large space Cons: staff is indifferent, but not unattentive more

REMARKABLE - Umbelievable - Can't wait to book another one! 8/6/2006

REMARKABLE! I am 48, never had a masssage, had plenty of gifts for them but was self conscious - I was a first timer and plan on making it a constant in my life. The personnel was excellent, my masseuse was APRIL - and she was unbelievable! The place was very clean, the lighting was perfect for this service, it smelled great throughout the entire area, and I felt very, very pampered. I recommend this for all - both male and female! Pros: The staff, the setting, the actual massage Cons: The cost more

blue river canyon 7/26/2006

I had a wonderful and invigorating experience at Blue River Canyon. I highly recommend this Spa and Salon. Ms. Rosalind B.Walker Pros: microdermabrasion and Parafilm treatment Cons: none more

Snotty Place! 5/30/2006

I went in for a hydrobath, facial and massage. Receptionist was so snobby and rude. The guides who took us from one room to another were nice. Hydrobath was over priced but room was clean and inviting. Facial was horrible. I thought the aethestician knew what she was doing but I ended up returning home and seeing a doctor who told me that I had a bacterial infection which was causing breakouts. His conclusion was that the tools used on my face were not clean. Staff was pushy to sell products. I bought 2 and both were horrible. Massage was good. Between each service, we were seated in a waiting room. Staff can provide fruit or water while we wait. It was very boring. Most spas have small snacks and water available in their waiting rooms. Pros: Good Parking, Not Crowded, On time Cons: Overly Priced, Inexperienced Staff, Rude Receptionist more

My wife dragged me as a gift to Blue River Canyon. Was I surprised! Very professional staff, and I was treated like a King. I have ask for the same gift for fathers day!:-) To my surprise it was very relaxing and i was able to play better golf the following day, all my tension was gone! lol Thanks guys it was great!!! neddie Pros: best massage, friendly staff, made you feel at ease more

Blue River Canyon a wonderful experience 5/12/2006

I love that place, I was pampered, pampered, and I have never had a bad service, and I,ve had every service they provide. The staff was professional and caring. I leave feeling totally relaxed, that my money was well spent, and my business appreciated. I will use blue at every opportunity more

Oprah was right best in Tennessee 5/12/2006

I have traveled all over the world and Hawaii is the best massage in the world, but Blue River Canyon is second. The staff is very experienced not just out of school. They can answer any question. I feel relaxed, pampered, and like I am walking on clouds when I leave. The decor makes you feel you are lost in a canyon, great walls!! I would recommend Blue River Canyon to my best friend, you will not be disappointed! They also have the lastest newest thing, which i love! Great new relaxing tubs!! Pros: gift certificates, facial products great, knowledgeable Cons: not in memphis, not open 24 hours more

Spa Spectacular...phenomenal experience!!! 5/11/2006

I am very well travelled and have visited many spas (including NYC top spa)...my experience exceeded my expectations. The staff members were service oriented making me feel 'at the top of their list'. My massage was a visit to my own personal eutopia given the relaxation that resulted. I found my facial to be intensive to my needs and my manicure and pedicure were exceptionale. Overall, I would recommend this to my many friends and colleagues throughout the country as a pinnacle experience well worth the time and money (my time being a most valuable commodity) Pros: service, friendly staff, atmosphere Cons: parking more

best pedicure--ever!!! 5/10/2006

I received a pedicure package for a birthday present... was the best I had ever had. Very relaxing, NO wait at all, the technician was very friendly and took the time to get to know me. I felt very welcomed and hope to get another gift for mother's day!! :)!! Pros: Friendly staff, great job!, really lasted more

Not Relaxing At All 5/9/2006

This was far beneath what I expected. I was looking for peace and tranquility. It was cold and the staff was not friendly. I felt like I was an inconvenience to them. I even went for 3 visits using a gift certificate. Each time I was sure the next visit would be better. It didn't get better it got worse. Definitely not a spa atmosphere at all. more

Bad service, bad atmosphere 4/12/2006

This was far from a relaxing time at the spa. The room was very cold, and the lighting way too bright to feel relaxed. I was not provided with a cover, so I felt extremely self-conscious (and cold!) when my service began. I could here the noise of the reception area the entire time. The staff were ready to go home for the day, and were far from friendly. I felt as if I was an inconvenience to them. I would not recommend this spa. Pros: none Cons: horrible service, bad ambiance, expensive more

From the waiting area, decorated in earth tones and burnished gold, a hallway leads to several massage rooms flickering with delicious-smelling candles. In the tranquility room, spagoers rest on Victorian couches between treatments. Customized facial treatments are designed to invigorate, soothe and heal skin. Other treatments include spa manicures and pedicures, plus a hand-softening peach paraffin treatment.
