B&B Best Ever 10/29/2010

I take my puppy Bailey to Biscuits and Bath on the Upper East Side. My dog starts running as soon as we turn the corner on First Ave and doesn't even turn around to look at me leave when I go. He has also vastly improved her socialization skill around other dogs. Bailey is crazy about everyone at Biscuits and Bath, and I get the impression the staff shares the same fondness for him. Summer, the Assistant Manager, has made my first experience with doggy day care especially easy. Training with Alyssa has been a going extremely well. She is really great at communicating with me about what Bailey is thinking, feeling, and teaching me how to train him. Even had him groomed there. My puppy's cut was phenomenal. Just the right length, his legs were still fluffy and not cut too close, and he looked like had layers rather than a straight even cut all over. He looked great and I was impressed.\r \r The service is incredible, and the personalized attention is the sort of top-notch business practice you rarely see anymore. You can't find a better doggy day-care. What I get is complete peace of mind that my little guy is one of the happiest dogs in the world.\r \r more

Biscuits and Bath UES 10/20/2010

We've been going to B&B for 3 years. The walkers are great. They are responsible, kind to the dogs, and actually take them for the time they are suppose to be walking them. My dog loves to go and drags me into the UES location. The workers inside the run with the dogs are kind to the dogs - pet them and hug them. They also are right on the dogs if there is aggressive behavior. We've had some overbilling and/or billing issues at times but they have always been wonderful about working with us and fixing and descrepancies. My dog has stayed over on numberous ocassions and always comes home in great shape and exhausted from play. We have the 3 day walk and 2 day play package. They are always willing to change up the schedule when my schedule varies and will even take her home in a moments notice if I get stuck at work. I think this is a very professional and good facility. I highly recommend it. They are dependable and really do care about dogs. I always feel secure that my dog is in good hands whether it is for a walk, a day of play, or overnights. more

Great dog people 7/26/2010

First off, the training is phenomenal. My crazed wheaten has grown from an insane adorable pup to a self-controlled young dog due primarily to David Muriello's personal training sessions. \r \r Next, the grooming is excellent. Edith looked at the pics I brought and listened to my desired alterations, did a great cut and even fixed the bits I wanted changed the next day. People complement me on his cute cut every day.\r \r And finally, he looooves going to B&B for boarding. Whenever we walk by the UES shop, he gets so excited and starts to head for the door! My dog never liked the crate, so the cage-free aspect is very important. Plus, he has a blast there. \r \r In short, they make both me and my dog happy. It's worth every cent. Pros: Fantastic training; cageless boarding; great grooming Cons: Cha-ching! But you get what you pay for ... more

Archie and I love Biscuits & Bath UES!!! 7/15/2010

Our love for Biscuits began 4 months ago when my then 8 month old rescue pit bull mix, Archie and I were in desperate need. After only having him for 2 separation anxiety filled days, myself and my neighbors were at the end of our rope. I made a desperate phone call to Biscuits after a referral from a friend one early morning before work. The customer care rep was extremely welcoming and helpful and set up day care for him on the spot. A saviour! Less than an hour later we trotted down to Biscuits, so thankful to finally have a solution to his incessant barking & crying. As soon as I walked in, the manager, John already knew exactly who we were. He gave me a huge hug and more importantly, such peace of mind that Archie was in the right spot. And was he! John immediately took me on a tour of the gym including the back where the dogs rest on their ‘down time’ and gave me a full explanation of what Archie would expect during his day. He gave me such reassurance as a first time dog mom that Archie was going to be safe and taken care of. Everything was clean, organized and filled with bustling employees keeping watchful eyes on the dogs. The managers and trainers have given me such great advice from feeding to destructive chewing to dog psychology. My biggest hurdle with Archie was his separation anxiety issues. After being in a daily routine where he was socialized, playing with other dogs and humans, he calmed. After only a couple of weeks I was able to leave my apartment without any barking issues from Archie. It also helped that he was so tired every night, he would fall dead asleep directly after dinner. I also enrolled Archie in Basic Manners & Obedience training class and was very happy with the outcome. I found that Archie really loved learning and was quite the athlete. So much so, I also set him up for an agility class while he was being boarded, which he LOVED! They even made a video for me to watch. Having a veterinarian on staff is also such a blessing. There have been a couple of occasions where Archie’s ‘spirit has gotten the better of him’, as manager Sean so eloquently put it, and he was the recipient of some puncture wounds. As a rambunctious pup, he sometimes has trouble understanding how annoying he can be, especially to older dogs. Archie never skipped a beat, but the staff’s reaction was always swift with phone calls to every one of my contact lines with a full report. Better yet, the vet fee would only by $50-$60 and I would go home with a full course of antibiotics and instructions. At any vet office that would be at LEAST double. The dog walkers are also very conscientious. I get daily notes as to what happened on Archie’s walk. They also help to try to scoop up whatever destruction Archie might have done to shoes or mail or whatever was on the counter while he was alone. And the best part is, the p.m. walker always leave the end table light on for Archie so he doesn’t have to be home alone in the dark. He is now such a healthy, happy dog and I have Biscuits & Bath to help thank for that! I really believe there is a mutual affection between Archie and the staff. I look forward to coming in and seeing the energetic and caring staff, who I consider to be friends. As a trained professional with a pre-vet degree, I know that he is in great care. It is truly his home away from home! One of the best decisions I ever made! Pros: loving care, trained staff, one stop shop more

Bodie's Slice of Heaven 7/15/2010

I cannot say enough great things about Biscuits and Bath – specifically the UES location. I have a large, hyper, male, boxer- puppy that started going to Biscuits and Bath around the age of 6 months. I feel incredibly comfortable with the staff, which has really helped me as a first time dog owner. They offer helpful training tips/classes, daycare, walks, grooming, veterinary service/advice (helpful when you have a clumsy pup), adoption service/placement, playgroups, pick up/drop off services, agility training, advice on the best dog runs/parks and so much more. They truly are helpful, caring, knowledgeable and most importantly HUGE DOG LOVERS. I run into walkers and handlers all over the neighborhood and not only does my dog excitedly spot them from a mile away, but they also recognize him by name/face in an instant. I know that at Biscuits and Bath my dog is not one of a million, but is truly cared for and considered special. He is so excited to get to Biscuits every morning, he starts pulling as soon as we get on the block and does this happy, little, wiggle dance for the front desk staff/managers as soon as he gets inside. They post pictures daily on their website which is so wonderful - I love being able to see him interacting with other dogs and the handlers. \r \r As a young professional, the cost of this fabulous service can be quite strain…but there is no question in my mind that it is 100% worth it. When I get home and my pup is not bouncing off the walls but is ready to relax, I know that he has been properly exercised and well taken care of. At the end of the day, I know that my dog is getting the best care the city has to offer. \r Pros: All arount SUPERB/Professional Service Cons: Pricey more

My dog's home away from home! 7/10/2010

We LOVE Biscuits and Bath, UES!!!\r We started by going to Puppy Kindergarten, which we both enjoyed. It was a good way to get used to being around other dogs and dog ""parents"". The free play after training was pure joy for both of us!\r We next used B & B for a week long stay. I was out of the country and very concerned about leaving my puppy, the staff couldn't have been more caring! They sent email updates, posted photos and even sent a video of a training session. It really put me at ease, I could see he was having fun and was looking just fine. While he was happy to see me when I returned, it was clear to me he had a fun week and was well cared for in my absence. I feed my dog a diet of raw meat and oatmeal, which the staff is very conscientious about.\r After such a possitive experience, we decided to take advantange of the puppy promotion in June. It was perfect for us! I was having a bit of a hard time with house training, and this did the trick! I now have a puppy who almost always does everything outside! :) I have to say, in response to another review, we have gone through a couple of collars at B&B, but I see it as a good thing, I know my puppy is playing! He's having fun! After raising two sons in NYC, I know dirty clothes and worn sneakers are a sure sign of a fun day, a worn collar and tired puppy are the same thing! I keep an extra collar in my bag, just in case! :)\r I sent my 7 month old Fox Terrier to B&B to learn how to live in a big city, with lots of dogs of all sizes and temperaments. I want a well adjusted, happy dog. B&B is my partner is this objective. The staff is amazing, very friendly and caring, toward my dog as well as me! When I pick my dog up, they greet me with warm smiles and a full report of my dog's day. He's a friendly, smart, high energy puppy, which the staff understands and repects. I never worry about him when he's in thier care, I know he is being well cared for and having fun!\r If you're looking for a great experience for your dog, and piece of mind for yourself, look at Biscuits and Bath. \r You won't be disappointed! \r Pros: friendly, warm staff Cons: pricey more

Biscuits & Bath's adoption program is a scam! 5/24/2010

Biscuits & Bath's adoption program is strictly business. Twice now, I have encountered sick puppies in the adoption window. And they have the nerve to charge $750 to adopt!!!! AND the nerve to have a sign in their window pleading for people to donate towels, bowls, bones, etc. to their adoption program -- as if they are a charity in need of donations! They only put puppies in the window because they are cute. But these puppies they put up for adoption are rescues and are likely to have medical or behavioral issues unbeknownst to unsuspecting people who assume the puppies are healthy. Why pay Biscuits & Bath $750 when you can get your own rescue dog and make a small donation? Cons: see below more

Do not take your dog here! 4/20/2010

Do NOT take your dog here - EVER. You would be better leaving it alone at the dog park all day. They have a D- rating from the Better Business Bureau for a good reason! My dog got seriously cut up, they shut its face and paw in a door in front of me, they broke his collar every day since they could not figure out how to make it work and they admitted to making a ""mistake"" and not checking his vaccinations leading to him almost dying of bordetella. The day he got sick they did not even notice the fever or profuse discharge from his nose and kept him around other dogs. Once they admitted their ""mistake"" and I asked for compensation of medical bills they refused saying its play at your own risk. The negative reviews are NOT blown out of proportion they are serious. I didn't believe the reviews figuring that they were from over sensitive owners. . . I gave them a shot with a puppy promotion and me and my dog are paying severely. While they quickly gave me my money back immediately after realizing that they were at fault they lied saying it was the canine flu in hopes I wouldn't check either. However vet bills, time off work and professional cleanup after the illness cost much more then a month of play. This is the biggest mistake I have ever made in NYC. I have no idea how they are still in business. They do not always check vaccines They do not call the vet when your dog gets sick They have too many dogs per person The second something goes wrong they quickly shirk the blame and lie My guess is they don't have web cams for a reason!!! Believe every negative review and do not subject your dog to this Pros: easy drop off Cons: don't always check vaccines, dogs get sick and hurt often more

NEW YORKERS AGAINST BISCUITS & BATH - CAMPAIGN 3/30/2010

My dog, Tyson was the victim of an accident caused by a dog walker at Biscuits & Bath. They refused to take responsibility and after doing research I found that many other ex-customers and employees have been through experiences just as bad or even worse than mine. I am starting a social campaign to raise awareness of Biscuits & Bath's poor customer service and inexcusable ways of doing business. Please spread the word and again, if you know ANYONE that has a story to share, let me know. Here is the Tyson's Fight campaign website: newyorkersagainstbiscuitsandbath.wordpress Pros: Together we can make a difference. more

Great staff 3/28/2010

The staff here is SO friendly and they treat the animals very well. The facility seems to be kept extremely clean and they animals seem happy. Pros: Great service more

Horrible 3/5/2010

terrible customer service - do not even try dealing with this company once you've given them your money get everything in writing before you even touch this poor establishment! Pros: Horrible customer service Cons: Irresponsible more

My Dogs 2nd Home 2/15/2010

For anyone looking for a daycare in NYC, I highly recommend Biscuits & Bath!! I have been bringing my dog there for over 9 years and after exploring other day cares; I found that there is no place as clean, as friendly, and as transparent. The customer service is really amazing. When you call in your profile pulls up automatically now and you're treated in a very personable manner. Every location of B&B has an open track for the dogs to play on and every 3 to 4 hours the dogs get a relief walk. No matter what blogs you read about B&B; you owe it to your dog to check it out yourself. They will love you for it. Trust me :) Pros: Cage Free, Clean, My dog loves it Cons: transports a little pricey more

Best Doggy Day Care 2/6/2010

I recently became single and had to look for a doggy day care solution for my 3 yr golden mix. I lived on the UES and for years and I have always walked by Biscuits and Bath on 1st and 80th St. and stopped to watch the dogs play on the play track. So I decided to give them a try. \r \r I have to say that from the moment you walk in you're greeted with a smile and true dog lovers. I felt very comfortable leaving my dog there. I suggest that you take him/her there a couple of times for short periods of time before you leave them for a long period to adjust. The place is spotless, very organized and they're always staff on the running track playing with the dogs and making sure there are no fights. \r There are three thing I really like B&B....If I'm g late or want to go to the gym I can call them up to arrange for them to drop my baby home. They always have a Vet on location, something none of the other doggy daycare centers offer....and most importantly my dog always drags from my apt all the way to B&B. Pros: friendly staff, Vet on location, super clean Cons: so far none more

Horrible Accounting!! 1/27/2010

I made an overnight reservation for my dog on 1/15/10. I dropped him off at 6 PM and picked him up the next day at noon. The incompetent staff didn't log in his pick up until after 7 PM resulting in me being charged an additional $45 for ""daycare."" I called, was told I would be given a refund as well as a free day of daycare for my trouble. On 1/20, I brought my dog in for his day of daycare. When I picked him up, I noticed a card attached to his leash. I asked what it was. The employee told me it was his membership card and all the members got one. I said ""Neat, I've never seen one before!"" She said ""You didn't get one?"" I told her no, wished her a good evening and left. Knowing that I'd never even seen this ""card"" before, she proceeded to charge me an additional 8.71 for a replacement card. I have called, emailed numerous times for my refund. I have no asked that they not only refund my overcharges, but the ridiculous ""membership"" fee as well. I have been denied this request. I am filing a complaint with the BBB and will make sure that everyone in my neighborhood with a dog stays far far away unless they don't really care about their money. Pros: location Cons: charging whatever they want, whenever they want more

They loved my dog 8/19/2009

My dog Charlie went to Biscuits and Bath 3 days a week and was walked for an hour twice a week and he LOVED it. Fred, the UES manager went above and beyond to make my 12 year old boy feel comfortable! The front desk staff was fantastic and always made Charlie's tail wag. The dog walkers enjoy their job and it shows in the time they take and the demeanor in which they interacted with Charlie. Charlie has since passed away (Fred personally sent flowers) and I always smile when I walk by the UES location... because Charlie loved it there and I knew they loved him too. If you want a place that cares for your dog as if it were their own, go to the UES Biscuits and Bath! Pros: Fred the Manager, Front Desk Staff Cons: back office staff is not as helpful more

No complaints!!!! 6/1/2009

As someone who loves my dog, I would feel horrible if something happened to her or anyones dog for that matter. We expect these places to be professional and treat our dogs with the respect and love we do. I am beginning to wonder what these trashng posts re B&B are all about. I have been taking my Yorkie to the UES location and never had any problems. I know that she is walked, so I am not sure what those posts are about re not walking small dogs. If anyone has had real problems aside from rumors, then I welcome you to post specifically what they are. You cannot blame a facility for giving your dog kennel cough, as you cannot blame your child's school for getting them sick either. We need to be responsibile dog owners and if your dog is sick, YOU should not bring them to daycare. I am in no way affiliated with this company, just someone who loves their dog and I find it disconerting that I keep finding posts trashing this facility based on heresay. Real comments and concerns would be appreciated. Pros: my Dogs loves it, Fed the Manager Cons: NONE!!!! more

Best care in NYC 3/21/2009

This is the best day care place in NYC. After visting many other places and asking the right questions I was confident I was leaving my puppy in the hands of experts. The staff explained the pros and cons of day care, how my dog would feel after the first few days- exhausted, thirsty etc, they explained the best way to introduce my dog to this environment and a bhevaior counselor intergrated my dog into day care. As far as I know no other place has a dog trainer introducing your dog into the pack.It safe and fun. People who write negative reviews did not ask the right questions in the begining and porb didnt follow the rec of the staff about how to introduce your dog to this environment. Pros: Full service, great staff, trainers on site more

They love dogs 1/15/2009

We ended up checking out BandB through a $99 first month puppy special. The first week, she was super thirsty since they only give water to the dogs at specific times. This seemd a little odd, but it is so they don't get stomache injuries from all the exercise- similar to why you can't swim after eating. We requested more frequent watering, and she is much better now. \r \r She is so tired when we leave there, she sleeps the rest of the night. All the staff know her and she loves them. You can tell there are dogs that are her friends and they love spending time with each other. After a few weeks, the on-site behaviorist called to let us know how well she was doing socially and we got a personalized development chart.\r \r She sprained a toe once from running, and the on-site vet called us immediately and gave her an exam. They put her in the front room with a bed and water bowl for a week untill she healed. She actually loved it up there- watching all the people walk by.\r \r She smells fine when she comes home, just like she has been playing with dogs all day, and we have her nails cut there occasionally with no issues. With just the word ""daycare"" she gets excited and wants to get in the car.\r \r I have never had any issue with the staff- they seem to love their jobs. They know all the parents and dogs and the dogs all love them. Also, I have witnessed them telling other parents about aggression issues with their dogs- they are very polite but honest, just like a child daycare center should be. They have strict rules about aggression, and won't allow it, and keep notes on all the dogs to share with the owners if something happens, which go in the permanent file for your dog. I would rather them be overcautious and let people know their dogs cannot stay in with the other dogs due to aggression, than allow injuries to innocent dogs.\r \r I don't know what everyone else is talking about. I urge anyone looking at B and B to visit and take a look around. They are great. Pros: The staff, convenience, socialization, personal care Cons: Cost more

Greenwich Village location Feedback 10/15/2008

NEVER use this service ever! \r I enrolled my dog in September day care. Within one week she had kennel cough and had to go to the doctor several times, during which she couldn?t go to daycare because hse was contagious (this ended up being 12 weekdays). I thought it was just a fluke because she was a puppy, so I enrolled in a few days a week for the next month. The first day that she was back in daycare, I got a call at 8:30am saying that she had thrown up and that she would be separated form the group until she starts feeling better. I picked her up at 6pm and she could barely lift her head up off of the ground. They kept her isolated all day and told me that she looks that way because she was ""bored"". I brought her to the vet; she had gotten a parasite and had a fever of 104. Despite the fact that they had a vet on call that day, they did not even have the vet take her temperature. So she ended up in the hospital for 2days. I called the manager back for 6 days in a row to which he finally returned my calls and told me that ?if I was concerned about my dog, I should have left work and taken her to a vet myself"". After a long conversation to which ""we agreed to disagree"", he told me he could not provide me with a refund, but only with some form of services. I asked for the name and number of his boss, and he said he refused to give provide that information. \r Pros: Staff is friendly Cons: dirty faciility, inflexible when it comes to the ""package"" you choose, too many dogs crammed in a small run more

Better than expected 7/7/2008

Other reviewers of this service have been harsh, but I find the staff friendly, and have noticed our dog returns their affection as they say goodbye. During his three day stay I was called daily with updates, and when I had a question I was put through to the location right away, and got an informed response. It's pricey - but that's what you would expect in Manhattan. After the overnight - his first - our pet was tired, but that seemed due to the stimulation of being around other dogs (which he adores). I actually think the employees are remarkably engaged given how grueling their jobs (and how demanding their clients) must be. more
