Bryan and George came Monday, March 12 arriving at 11:30 a.m. and leaving at 12:30 p.m.(1 hour). They fixed two toilets and 1 facet. The bill was $652. 65, excessive!!! There was just one little hiccup in the whole day which Nate has already addressed at the office. The call back on 3/9 was remedied once the problem was located and solved. Nate showed due diligence in solving the problem. more

We had a real challenge with a "plugged" main drain line in our home. It took a while, but the service technician found that a squirrel had crawled down the sewer vent line, got trapped in the main horizontal line, and drowned. This does not happen everyday, so I give a lot of kudos to our serviceman for staying with the task at hand until he found the problem and fixed it. everything now working great again. Seriously, whay more do i need to say? unfortunately, much more. The plumber tried to tell me that my pipes are all frozen because even though it was 22 degrees out, the "real feel" is only 4 degrees so they are definitely frozen. Only living things are affected by "real feel"! They were not frozen. Then after I specifically asked the company to have a 3/4 hp pump to replace what I have and need, when they got there, they of course only had a 1/3 hp pump. Then proceeded to explain how a 1.25" copper pipe can only discharge 40 gmp so it can't handle a 3/4 hp pump! Definitely not true! Instead of losing the $89 call fee and waiting for another company to come and getting my basement flooded in the meantime, I had no choice but to bite the bullet and have them lose a customer. He then tried to scare me into replacing another pump, yes, for another $571, because it was burned out due to running, which it was not! Basically if I didn't know any better, I would have given into, what I would definitely call scare tactics, got two pumps replaced, a replaced backup system and all new piping for just a single burned out pump! Needles to say this is exactly why people fear calling 'professionals' to service things. This was outrageous. Please believe this review, do not ever call this company! Companies with these kind of practices need to be taught this is unacceptable. RESPONSE FROM Arnold & Sons Plumbing Htg: Very hard to respond to a complaint about SERVICE & PROFESSIONALISM when the author of the complaint wasn't even present for the service call. That being said. Wind Chill would have been better choice of words as i discussed that with the technician. We were dealing with a lot of frozen pipes the past weeks but that doesn't mean that is why your sump pump failed. It was a big reason why others have failed, but he was speculating so i have encouraged him not to. "Reel Real" is a bad choice for words. So thank you for bringing that up. If he stated that a 3/4hsp pump wouldn't pump through and 1.25" pipe he was wrong. However he should have just said we dont carry 3/4hsp pumps. We dont carry a variety of pumps as its redundant when considering there is no flow requirement to discharge effluent water... only that it doesn't fill the basement. This pump has always been the best average size pump for almost all needs. If you had needed a 3/4 pump it would have been easy to stipulate that when you made the appointment. Regarding another pump on the other side of the basement in a closet? Our technicians are trained to assess all potential problems and yes for sump pumps, even if they work, the time to replace them is when they have reached a certain age and ARE STILL WORKING, not wait until they fail. The technician followed protocol and offered up the replacement option for that pump as well. There was no trickery, or deception in fact the very reason we give pricing up front is to be as transparent as possible. If you are pissed about the cost then ok, we don't apologize for our pricing, but the technicians did nothing deceptive. They arrived at a prescheduled time, assessed the problems, offer solutions and gave pricing OPTIONS. You cannot honestly judge SERVICE and PROFESSIONALISM when you weren't even there Stephen. Just thought people ought to know. I bet if this were a home you cared about and lived in and there was a risk of it flooding, $571 would seem pretty reasonable. more

My window for service was 12pm-2pm. At 2pm when no one showed up I called the office to see if I was still on for that day. The girl made a call and said the service guys were running late but they would be there. At 2:35pm the girl in the office called and said the service guys were on their way to my house. I don't know where they came from but they didn't show up until 4:15pm. RESPONSE FROM Arnold & Sons Plumbing Htg: Steve my sincerest apologies that this happened to you. We strive to be better every day but sometimes fall short. Can we offer you a $100 coupon for any future service with no expiration date? If so please call the office and we will get that to you. My wife was charged $371 for snaking a kitchen sink. Not knowing any different, she paid for the service performed without question. I called the company to inquire about what I felt was an exorbitant charge for a simple job the lasted under an hour, but they never returned my call after promising to look into it and check with the Service Manager. This is the second time I've used the company and was hoping to establish a long-term relationship with a trusted plumber, but this experience has caused me to take any future business elsewhere. more

I couldn't be more impressed with this business, from the first call, expertly fixing the problem at a reasonable cost to the follow-up. The customer service model is one I wish every company used...email confirmations of the appointment including a picture and background on the tech, immediate detailed email receipt and estimate for additional work I wanted done. Had a low running kitchen faucet. Called was told about $90 to come and $100 labor a hour, ok I knew this was the going rate no problem. Now the service tech tried to sell me a $125 faucet for $700 Went to Lowe's got it for $137 That afternoon, no biggie. Next day I was ready to put in a simple faucet and $50 filter. Charge $100 for labor great I said., even talked to the customer service rep, they wouldn't charge for another service call, great let's get it done. Today C0ST WENT TO $700 for labor. Holy $@!#% !!!!!!!!! $@!#% YOU!!!! for replacing a faucet and connecting a filter 30 min job max. Arnold & Sons lied. Getting a new Plummer charging $189 to install my stuff. Will see these $@!#% in court later. Two faced customer service. CALLED B.BB. Yellow and others do not use these liars. RESPONSE FROM Arnold & Sons Plumbing Htg: Boy this just goes to show you that you can say whatever you want on a review whether its true or not. Mr. Plaskon had a service call one day to investigate one faucet and attempt to repair a problem with another faucet. He paid $178 for that days visit. That same day he was given 4 different options in writing with pricing for another faucet installation and the items. He then called back to schedule the same tech to come out and install one of the options (in writing) and acted as if he had no idea of the conversation the day prior. We have both calls from Mr. Plaskon recorded in our system to verify this and also verify there was never any mention of an hourly charge. All options given the first service call are time stamped and recorded in our system. He did call last Saturday prior to his service visits this week. Now we have had the same answering service for over 15 years and they know what to say and what not to say. They do not have authority to discuss any pricing with customers whatsoever; However, if there happened to be someone new from the service for the first time ever that we don't know about that decided to just say it was $100/ hour... it still would't change the fact that we didn't surprise anyone with pricing as it was all divulged upfront the first day we met at his home. Upfront pricing is the cornerstone of our business. We apologized for his inconvenience and asked our technician to walk away from the call performing no work and collecting no additional fees. more
