A Place for great Valentine's basket 2/15/2008

Last night, my wife and I had one of their Valentine's Baskets and had more than we could eat. Six courses including three types of desserts making up the last course and a full bottle of California sparking wine (a.k.a. Champagne.) The price? Only $75. I would have had to pay at least $135 - $150 at a restaurant. It was delicious exempt the wine was a little dry for my taste even being a brunt. The clerks were friendly and it took less than 2 minutes to pick up the meal since I paid in advanced. We hung cupids and sprinkled harts on the tablecloth and with the cozy fire burning it was the best yet. Just heat and eat and sip! \r \r Pros: Food, wine, service, price more

Avoid questioning the women 10/12/2007

Last week, I went to Alicia's for the second time. I thought that my terrible experience with the woman that took my order the first time was maybe an exception. Belive me, it is obviously an acceptable norm to be treated like a pirriah if you dare ask questions about the items.\r I asked how large was the sandwich was with the roll. I response was""like a sandwich"". I forgot, if they don't recognize you, they great you with a ""yah"". Well, I then dared to asked if their was avacado in a salad I was intersted in. The nasty woman said ""it is just exactly what the menu says is in there"". \r Forget the babble about how good Alicia's is to the community. Her sandwiche was tasty but could have tasted alot better with a bit of customer service. Look at the seinfels episode about the soup n____. That episode must be the model that Alicia's studies and strives to copy. Pros: Food is good. Chocalte cake is tasty. Cons: The worst customer service this side of New York more

Just like her Father would have ran a business.... 9/25/2007

I was disturbed when I read the review that stated Alicia was ""rude"" and had ""the worst customer service possible"". I've been a patron of Alicia's family of businesses since I was in diapers, literally. Her Father had a small Mexican food restaurant in the same business area when I was young, Rudy's. Anyone who was raised in Brea knows what I'm talking about. He then moved it closer to one of the local high school's (which thankfully I went to), where he worked until well after I had graduated. The ABSOLUTE best bean and cheese burrito and hot sauce on earth!! Anyways, whenever I'm in Alicia's, I always think of Rudy. Their similiarities in work ethic, and commitment to the customer, are impeccable. The way their employees are treated (and you can tell because they've been their so long) should set the standard. The wonderful food is one thing, but the character of the owner and her dedication to her customers is amazing. Apparently the rude posting on 9/8/2007 isn't aware of all the good Alicia does for the community and all of the hours she puts in that make her a positive role model in society. I know many people that make this establishment the place to join with friends and family-it has become a weekly routine for many. I unfortunately live in La Habra, but work in Costa Mesa, so my visits are few, but I have to say, never have I ever received customer service that was questionable. In fact, the first time I took my boyfriend of 3 years there (which was this last Spring-don't know why I waited so long) Alicia took our order. When he made his selection, Alicia asked ""Honey, is this your first time here?"" He said yes. She then proceeded to make recommendations for a ""first timer"". He obliged, and still talks about what a great meal that was. Oh, I forgot to mention, even though it was a busy Saturday, Alicia came over to see how he liked it and to make sure we were okay. Now that's what I call Customer Service!! Pros: Quick, tasty, and homey atmosphere Cons: Not near my work more

Great Food! If you can put up with Alicia 9/8/2007

Alicia has got to be the meanest person ever. Its as if she does not care one bit about customer service. She is rude and just acts absolutely horrible, she will yell at you and get mad over just about everything. I've heard so many stories about her since i work in the area and have had a personal experiance as well. Her sandwiches are what keep people coming there, the food is really great and the only reason i would dare step foot in that place. My advise, order your food and get out. Pros: Best sandwiches in the OC! Cons: Wost customer service possible more

Alicia andHomecooking at its Best!!!! 8/20/2007

I had been to Alicia's before and enjoyed ""Alicia"" and her great homecooking. When I read the reviews posted here I had to go back to Alicia's to see if the engaging ""Alicia"" had Changed! So, all the way from Redondo Beach we drove. Enjoyed a beautiful and scumptious lunch. My mom and I shared a Turkey Torta (Mexican style sandwich) warm bread that was so hugely piled with fresh roasted turkey, cheese, avocado, because to eat a whole one would have surely been so decadent and sinful! So delicious. Along side our Torta were one of the most delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies and a very tasty cookie bar that was chewy and moist. But, that is not ALL! Also on the beautifully served basket platter was fresh watermelon and strawberries. And for a small additional fee I had the most savory white bean chili. The base was a chicken broth, green chiles and a combination of white beans and Peruvian yellow beans, it was so creamy!!! AND ""Alicia"" herself sat with my mom and myself for a full 30 minutes visiting and telling stories of her family, Mexico, Frieda, and receipe sharing. It was the most awesome experience and I found she was the same lovely woman that I remembered on my last visit. Pros: Alicia's wonderful personality plus a gorgeous boutique shop attached!! Plus she gave a half a dozen of chocolate & snickerdoodle cookies for our grandchildren! So generous!! Cons: That Alicia's is nearly 50 miles away from me, I wish I could visit more often. more

Good Food - Demeaning Service 1/25/2007

Yes, Alicia does believe she is the Queen and will let you know it. But she does have a very good menu with a diversified selection that is always well prepared. Sometimes it's difficult to observe her demeaning behavior to her customers (I've never witnessed her belittle an employee) and then have any desire to return to the restaurant. A couple tips: do not even talk on your cell phone while ordering or she will lash out; the same sandwich CANNOT be ordered within the same party - you must all have a different sandwich; lunch time can have long lines even for take out. \r Aside from the way you are treated, the food is always good; I continue to return even though I feel abused when I leave. Pros: Good Food - Diverse Menu Cons: Customer Service and parking more

Would not recommend unless you want to be treated rudley 1/16/2007

Alicia is rude and holyer than thou. She is a snob and will only cater to people that fit her. She is condisending and inconciderate. Embarassed me more than and can ever say. I will never return to her place of business becaause of her rudeness again.\r Her daughers have many of her traits and the rudness comes out in them as well. I was waiting for my food order that was phones in by a co-worker and because i did not know what name it was under she proceeded to yell out in the crowed of people that "" What don't you know what your name is?""... then when i was checking the order she said even louder don't you trust us to get your order right. If i wanted to be treated like that i would have ordered my food at a jail house. Pros: white collar workes only very few men all woman Cons: rude service more
