I had been to Alicia's before and enjoyed ""Alicia"" and her great homecooking. When I read the reviews posted here I had to go back to Alicia's to see if the engaging ""Alicia"" had Changed! So, all the way from Redondo Beach we drove. Enjoyed a beautiful and scumptious lunch. My mom and I shared a Turkey Torta (Mexican style sandwich) warm bread that was so hugely piled with fresh roasted turkey, cheese, avocado, because to eat a whole one would have surely been so decadent and sinful! So delicious. Along side our Torta were one of the most delicious chewy chocolate chip cookies and a very tasty cookie bar that was chewy and moist. But, that is not ALL! Also on the beautifully served basket platter was fresh watermelon and strawberries. And for a small additional fee I had the most savory white bean chili. The base was a chicken broth, green chiles and a combination of white beans and Peruvian yellow beans, it was so creamy!!! AND ""Alicia"" herself sat with my mom and myself for a full 30 minutes visiting and telling stories of her family, Mexico, Frieda, and receipe sharing. It was the most awesome experience and I found she was the same lovely woman that I remembered on my last visit.
Pros: Alicia's wonderful personality plus a gorgeous boutique shop attached!! Plus she gave a half a dozen of chocolate & snickerdoodle cookies for our grandchildren! So generous!!
Cons: That Alicia's is nearly 50 miles away from me, I wish I could visit more often.
