My friends and I went to the 112 Eatery expecting to be dazzled after reading all of the fantastic reviews on their website and from bits and pieces of foodie magazine articles commending the restaurant as being the ""IT"" reservation in Minneapolis. I could not have been more disappointed in the service and the food we received there. For starters our waiter, who we were forced to give a 20% gratuity to at the end of the night, was not only a poor server and an arrogant person, but was outright rude to the gentleman in my party that inquired about the 'Prosciutto and Frybread' dish, exclaiming that it hardly needed an explanation. Although my 'Romain and Roquefort' salad was excellent, my Tagliatelle and Fois Gras was overcooked, with sauceless and overseasoned egg noodles that could be lifted off my plate by sticking my fork into the middle of them. The meatballs were delicious, however, even though I could have sworn I ordered a half but received a whole serving. The cauliflower fritters were also excellent, though my companions frybread was nearly inedible as it had apparently been rolled in salt. After this we hardly were interested in dessert or sticking around for an after dinner spirit, and still the whole experience took us 2.5 hours. There are many excellent restaurants out there that are in need of patronage during this economic downturn, this is surely not one of them.
Pros: Small, cozy setting. Excellent wine list. Great cauliflower fritters.
Cons: Service was dismal, nearly everything was over-seasoned, they force you to pay a 20% gratuity, and it was an extremely long ordeal.
