Best

Best food I've had in the Twin Cities. I've never been disapointed with the food. We had dinner for two: appetizer, two entrees, dessert and a bottle of wine for $90. It's a bit m...

Made the mistake of eating at Saffron two days earlier so the misses here were magnified.

Big Let down and by the way P...U 11/29/2006

Couldn't wait for reservation....never ranted before...arrived on time told to return in 30 minutes..we did and then waitress took no less than 15 minutes to bring our drinks. Hostess was unhelpful...seating cramped...and boy did it stink in there. Very Muggy. Food was not pleasing..except for the fries. Please ignore the hype. Andrew Zimmern got this one wrong. Cheeseburger bun was soggy...Dining companions not impressed either. Witnessed waitress's laughing about a customers slacks. Hey, he was probably there for some good food not to show off his pants. Pros: Fries, Wine Cons: Employees, Food more

What's all the hype about? 11/29/2006

The amount of lead-time needed to make a reservation does not always equate to a great dining experience. Pros: Ambience Cons: Parking, Wait Staff, long lead time needed for reservations more

The Emperors' New Clothes 11/27/2006

Couldn't wait to try this restaurant from all of the buzz on the street was looking forward to exceptional dinner. Far from it , Three of us dined had three different meals, All below average...would rather dine at Chammps ( what does that tell you). Service was slow, and space so small that kitchen grease stays with you until you are compelled to shower, the minute you get home. Lesson learned The buzz is not always right, often I think people are caught up in looking forard to their 2 month reservation, and would feel gastronomically ignorant if they dont rave. Try the place yourself....I think if you look closely you will see the 112 eatery is unclothed. Pros: Wine, People watching Cons: Food, Service, Grease more

Best dinner in minneapolis 11/13/2006

Went on a Thursday night and sat at the ""kitchen table"", a little private area in the back. Our group of four had everything from appetizers to dessert. I highly recommend the steak taretare and the chocolate dish for dessert along with pretty much everything else on the menu. I live in chicago now and this place rivals most great restaurants here. Have fun. Pros: food food food Cons: parking more

Best Restautant 11/9/2006

I have never eat at a place that is so warm and tasty! I loved everything in the menu and enjoyed every moment of it! I have been here with significant other, family, friends...you name it and it was good every time! Pros: Thumbs up more

Somethings Very Wrong Here 10/21/2006

Don't plan on a good time at this restaurant. I had made reservations to celebrate my husbands birthday a month and a half in advance. We were treated so rudely by the hostess/manager. I left in tears. Should have kept with the La Belle Vie plans. Worst dining experience ever. Cons: Worst experience ever more

Perfect 9/26/2006

We had my birthday party here and it was charming. The waiter was attentive but not pushy or rushed. The steak tartare was awesome. Next visit I will have that and french fries for an entree. Very good portions. The shrimp was tasty and very fresh. Everyone liked what they ordererd. The tres leche cake was the finest desert I have had in years. I cannot wait to come back. Pros: service, food, atmosphere Cons: parking more

Top of the Heap 7/17/2006

One of the best, most consistant, and fairly priced places to dine in the Twin Cities. I have always have prompt, perfect service, and the food is always suberb! A beautiful spot on the inside as well. Pros: Everything! 112-4 life! Cons: That I can't go every night, or have them live at my house. more

A Rare Jewel in any City 6/17/2006

112 Eatery is the best restaurant to come to Minneapolis in years. The food is consistently great and very reasonably priced. The menu changes constantly, so while one of your favorites may disappear, something new will be there to hypnotize you in its place. I especially love the steak, the scallops, the cold cuts and foie gras though the list could go on. Pros: Service, Food, Wine more

Lives up to the reviews 6/3/2006

We chose the 112 to celebrate our 24th, and it absolutely lived up to all those fabulous reviews. We shared the blue prawns w/ rooster mayo, which were unbelievable! I had the roast swordfish w/ fegola and fennel, and my husband had the pork tenderloins. Both were magnificent. Our knowledgeable server helped us pick a suitable wine, and was attentive without being intrusive. We finished with the chocolate pot de creme, and the tres leches cake. Both were excellent and hit the right spot. We loved every minute of our experience there, and will go back again. The space is great, including the open kitchen view on the way to the power rooms. The atmosphere is abuzz with energy, and it was a fun place to people watch. Go there! Pros: Fabulous food, Attentive staff, Sidewalk tables Cons: Loud more

Reservations 5/31/2006

I called to make reservations for a party of six. The person that I talked to said no way could they do anything until after 10 PM. She actually said if we could do four we would be fine. This was for a dinner with some business associates - I had to explain to her that you just can't leave two out. I was kind of put off by her manner of rejecting me telling me she could do something for us after 10 PM. more

National Exposure Must Have Made 112 Arrogant 5/30/2006

We were regulars, but no more! From the top, they screwed up our drink orders. With half of our salads gone, out come the appetizers (rushed at a restaurant with a month wait - shame on you). Dinner was bad: beef tenderloin was cold, fish was tasteless, sandwich was inedible. Waitress was RUDE and never came back (didn't see her for an hour...sat with a still empty first drink glass). She finally returns, silently drops the dessert menu on our table and walks away. Comes back and we politely say no to dessert - she yanks the menus off the table so fast she shatters a water glass on the floor. UNREAL!! Any restaurant can have a bad night, but at a restaurant where full dinner, with wine and apps, exceeds $60 per person, things should never be this bad - not on any night. Pros: Good Value Cons: Service, Food more

Don't ever take a date on her Birthday 5/27/2006

After hearing such good comments about this restaurant I was excited to take my date there for her birthday. I called and made reservations and informed the person that it was my date's birthday and wanted to know if they do anything like a small cake or dessert. The person replied ""Yes we will do something, I'll let your waitress know"". The service was slow, and we had to stare at our empty plates for about 20 minutes before the waitress cleared our table and gave us the bill. Not once did my date get a ""Happy birthday"". Sometimes it's the small things that make your day. If we had gone to Perkin's at least we would have gotten a scoop of ice cream with a candle. I do have to give the chef credit, because the appetizers and entrees were phenomenal for the price that we paid. Pros: Great chef, Good Prices, Nice atmosphere Cons: Slow service, Creepy pay lot more

JUST PERFECT! 5/8/2006

My boyfriend and I dined here on a Sunday evening and everything was exquisite. The blue prawns appetizer was SO flavorful. The entrees we chose roasted ahi and halibut cheeks were some of the best seafood we've had--cooked to perfection. The accompaniments to each dish were well thought out yet not overdone. The best was the dessert--you must have it! The tres leches cake is hands down the best dessert we've ever had! It melted in your mouth. Our server was knowledgable when we questioned him about the various selections on the menu. We'll definitely return! Pros: romantic setting, sensational food, great service more

Fantastic Service! 4/3/2006

Reserved Table 10 (in the back) 2 months in advance, based on a recommendation from this page, for my girlfriend's birthday. Unfortunately, the previous party had been there for three hours and was showing no signs of leaving. The staff apologized profusely, and found us a nice table not too far from the kitchen. They also gave us a complimentary fried prawns appetizer, right away, for the inconvenience. For a birthday treat, they gave us some warm caramel corn, but great presentation. Food was excellent - especially the sweet potato appetizer. Don't come too far before your reservation, as the front area gets very crowded (already a popular place), but we'll be back to try their 128 burger! Pros: Service, Ambience, Decent Prices Cons: Parking, Ambient Noise more

Simply The Best, Fabulous 3/28/2006

We've eaten here more than any other restaurant in the twin cities so far this year. We've never had a reservation, but show up @ 4:15 or so, and grab a seat at the bar. Service is spectacular....the food is superb! This new gem makes living downtown so much fun! You simply must give it a try.....if you can get in. Pros: Food, Service, Cozy Cons: Absolutely None! more

Tough to Beat! 2/16/2006

After fellow chefs and I tried everything on the menu, Ive got to say this place rocks! Everything we had was prepared to perfection. The menu is made up of simple fare, and features many comfort foods. They arent trying to reinvent the wheel here; its a chef driven restaurant with an emphasis on good food. Keep up the good work! more

Over rated 1/20/2006

You are presented with an appetizer of pit in green olives, and almonds so hot that they num your taste-buds. We ordered: Leek&potato soup $10 tasty nicely presented but for that price were expecting a more generous serving. Lamb Scottadito $9 cheap? Three miniature lamb chops on a starchy pesto sauce. (Rachel Ray was there the lamb chops presented were 3 times the size of the ones we got). We also had the Pressed chicken for two $19 All you get is piece of chicken, breaded on-one side, sprinkled with peppers. Make at home for under $5!!!! NO sides. When you see $19for2 its really not. Country pork ribs with salsa piccante $5 each. First there is only one C in piCante, and secondly,it was 1 dainty bone-in-chop, topped with chopped tomato. The tres leches was fantastic! This Nicaraguan dessert was the only thing we were WOW about. Pros: service, location, ambiance Cons: no parking, expensive for what it, food more

112 = 1 trick (pretty) pony 11/21/2005

I had heard so much about 112 & was looking forward Friday reservation. 112 was nearly empty when we arrived (12:00 pm). Lovely niche, beautifully inviting. Waitress was prompt, attentive (she took our wine glasses away @ 1:30? Regulation for the liquor license? I wasn't bothered except she mentioned nothing of it until she took them) We each had appetizer & entree (kitchen open until 1:00) & a lovely bottle of wine. However, I found that each item ordered, althought lovely, was not the culinary triumph I expected. Everything was acceptably delicious. It seemed the theme was a sweet/heat pairing from amuse nuts at to the carmel corn. I felt it needed more creative elements paring/menu. Bottom line: it is nice. I wouldn't wait for weeks to get a table, when you could so easily find the same (BETTER) quality at another (like Heartland in St. Paul, mmmm!!) Pros: fair menu prices, nice wine list Cons: no valet parking, average more

Disappointing Service 11/7/2005

I made a reservation for 10 people for Saturday night and the hostess and manager assured me that they would be able to accomodate our party. We arrived and our party of 10 was seated at a table for 6. Half of my party was left standing around the table. The wait staff was rude and repeatedly told members of our party that ""they were in the way."" We waited almost a half hour for our drinks to arrive - at that point they still couldn't seat our entire party so we decided to leave. A big disappointment as I have heard great things about 112 Eatery but apparently they don't have the service piece down yet. Steer clear if you have a large party or an important occasion to celebrate - you'll be disappointed. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Service more
