This salon is awful!! Do not listen to the positive reviews written here. The salon is very disorganized and dirty. \r The bathroom looks like a gas station bathroom and is tucked in the corner through the hair dye room. The stylists are inexperienced and the owner is rude to customers and the employees.\r I went in for a color and cut. I asked for a medium brown color and instead it came out black. She said that all I needed to do was wash it and the color would get to brown eventually. I asked how long that would take and she said that when it got to the color I wanted then I wouldn't have to wash the color out anymore... \r Instead I went to a different salon and I had to get the color stripped out of my hair. \r This salon is not worth your time or your money. more

Great salon!!! 3/11/2012

I was nervous trying a new hair salon but I tried zing and had Candy as my stylist. I LOVE my cut, my roommates raved about it, its perfect. They also have a great happy hour- I've never seen a store have happy hour, only restaurants. I got a cut and blow dry that should have been $90 before tip for $35... GREAT DEAL!!! Thank you Zing- I recommended you to my sorority and friends! more

i got the best haircut i've ever had at zing! the salon is really funky and cool, with a friendly staff and a great vibe. they use top of the line products and you come out smelling, feeling, and looking amazin. i got a really fun haircut with fantastic purplish-red streaks...i cant imagine my hair looking any better than it does now...highly recommend! more

2nd time was even better than the first 11/29/2011

this is the second time I've been to zing and I was just as pleased as the first time! The stylists are so welcoming and definitely know what they are doing. I showed Whitney a picture of the highlights I desired and she did them even better than in the picture. My cut turned out fabulous too! I will be going back to zing every time I need my hair done! Wonderful place! more

Best service yet! 11/29/2011

zing did a great job! Exactly what I was looking for! I came in and explained what I was picturing and the stylist executed the cut perfectly. Had a whole bunch of little dogs running around which was very entertaining. Also enjoyed all the free candy! Great experience and I will definitely be back! more

I needed a haircut really badly and i'm more of a cost-cutters, cheap chain salon kind of guy. My girlfriend goes to Zing and wanted me to try it. I was downtown and decided to just walk in, and they got me in right away. The haircut was quick and a really good price. Friendly workers there. I was very satisfied with my cut and will be back again. more

Such a cool salon! 10/27/2011

Zing is such a cool salon! Everything about that place is really exciting and fun. The decor and ambiance just puts you in a good mood... plus they have free candy! The stylists were all really friendly and the girl I went to did an AMAZING job on my hair! I got highlights and a shorter cut and I lovvvved my new hair. All of my friends complimented my new hair-do and now they're all going to Zing. 5 stars!! more

I've tried a lot of salons in my life before finding Zing and I'm happy to say I've FINALLY found my salon!! The stylists all know exactly what to do with your hair and are really good at listening to what you want and making sure you are satisfied. Everyone is really friendly and it is a really fun environment to be apart of!! The salon has a lot of personality and the decor is really awesome. Plus I LOVE their happy hour pricing. An amazing haircut is really affordable and I always leave looking 10x better than I did before I walked in. Best salon in Boulder by far!! more

Awesome Salon-Great Service 10/8/2011

I walked in without an apt and immediately was greeted by all of the friendly staff there. Everyone was pleasant and it was a fun vibe. They got me right in for a brazilian blowout and my hair looks fabulous. It's smooth and shiny. Joy did my hair-the owner and she pays great attention to detail and made sure my cut was exactly the way I wanted it! Overall- A+ more

WORST SALON IN TOWN: FALSE POSITIVE REVIEWS!! 9/26/2011

This salon doesn't deserve 1 star....I came in deciding to donate my hair to cancer. So i was going from a long cut to a shorter cut. I asked for no layers and having my hair about an inch off my shoulders.....what did I end up with??? I had layers on one side of my hair and not the other and it looked awful. I had to come in again to get my hair cut and she just made it worse. Some ""stylist"" with short blonde hair with pink. Seriously?? Where did you go to beauty school online?? Zing hires rude and inexperienced ""stylists"" I payed 55$ for a horrible haircut. Overpriced...Great Clips has better stylists....Best part!! I had to go another salon and the stylist did an amazing job but she said that it will take around 8 weeks to fix my cut. I should have asked for my money back.. more

WHO ARE THESE SO CALLED STYLISTS? 7/17/2011

lets be honest here. I thought I read some good reviews about this so called SALON!!!! I was sadly mistaken. 5 stars YEAH RIght. The walls look like pepto bismol and the bathroom looks like a strip joint! The stylists are rude and dishonest and only there to make their money. They could care less about the customers or what WE as the clients want. I forgot what stylist i had all i know is my hair cut and color looked like a 3 year old did it. I could have went to great clips and got a better cut and style then this strip JOINT!!! I went in last week because i was leaving to go back home to see my family and i had to go back looking AWFUL thanks to my AWFUL stylist. And not to mention WHERE IS THE OWNER OR BOSS???? The receptionist or whoever Jennie is , was RUDE INCOMPETANT AND didnt give a crap about the clients or the needs of anything else but her dog!!!!!! more

I love Joy 7/5/2011

I am new to Boulder and was so surprised by this salon. I happenned into the salon on a busy Saturday with my two tween girls and we want ear piercings. Joy was so kind to my girls and did a great job. I booked with her the following week for a cut and highlight. Well trying a new stylist is always a challenge and I was thrilled with my perfect haircut and truly amazing highlights. In fact I must say these were the best highlights I have ever gotten. Thanks Joy for really helping me transition to Boulder. I appreciate you:) more

AWFUL 7/3/2011

i went to get my haircut last week by Jenny. i was new and looking for a good price, I saw the reviews and for the most part I thought i would give it a shot. During my haircut she could care less to listen and pretty much just did what she wanted. I specifically said i wanted a senior hair stylist NOT SOMEONE WHO HAS BEEN DOING HAIR FOR A YEAR AND THINKS SHE KNOWS EVERYTHING. I had to go pay again to get my hair fixed at a more expensive salon, granted it was 150% better. All in all she was rude, my hair cut is completly un even, choppy, and the hole staff seemed like 20 year olds running it. more

BEST Salon in Boulder! 6/25/2011

I've lived in Boulder for 6 years and tried a lot of different salons before I found Zing. Not only does Zing give the BEST haircuts in town (all my friends go there and rave about their haircuts), but they are also the most fun salon I've ever seen, and have the friendliest professional staff. They really listen to me, give me great recommendations and give fantastic haircuts. I would definitely recommend Zing to anyone who is considering a new style, wants recommendations for what would look good, or for anyone who knows what they want and just want a great haircut and a great experience. You will be happy that you went to Zing. more

Great Service GO HERE!!! 4/18/2011

I am from Austin, TX and I have always gotten my hair done every week because I have African-American hair. I perm it every 6-8 weeks and since I've been here, I have not found anyone to do it...UNTIL NOW!!! Joy did my hair and she knew EXACTLY what she was doing, not to mention she was super sweet! I have dry scalp because the climate here is so gnarly and she cleared that right up. My hair has never been so silky in Colorado before and she totally made my week. I am definitely going back and if you have African-American hair especially, please go here! I was about to give up on Boulder, but there is one place that knows what to do and that's Zing Salon! :) more

Never Again 3/22/2011

Being from out of town, I have tried several salons here in Boulder and this Salon unfortunately stands out as the worst.Not only did I have to wait almost 20 minutes after my schedule appointment time to begin, I am completely dissapointed with the results. I was looking for a little more than a trim, 2 inches to be exact, off my hair and am horrified as to how it turned out. My hair is completely uneven, my hair was cut straight across on the ends making it noticeably uneven, and the layers (when looked at by another stylist from another salon the next day) were completely off. I can say that this is the worst haircut I have ever recieved. more

Great for regular cuts, or trying something new! 2/15/2011

Zing is a fun, funky salon right downtown - super easy location for me to get to, and can run right out to happy hour after! I have been seeing Rachel for a solid 2 years now and look forward to going in every time. It's like visiting a girl friend, and she always totally gets what I am going for. We've tried some fun new styles together and I always just trust her opinion, and it always comes out great! more

Nine months to grow out worst haircut I have ever had 2/7/2011

This salon should not be rated with five stars. I honestly wondered when I left if my stylist was high or durnk. I left with most of my hair sticking straight up due to over texturizing. About one month later, I had to cut 8 inches of length off, and it is only in the last month or so that the hairs that were cut WAY too short are inconspicuous. Without even telling the stylist I went to in Boulder to fix this disaster, she knew exactly where I had gone. Zing has a terrible reputation with sylists in Boulder, and for good reason. I have (had) long straight hair, and the cutting ""technique"" was completely inappropiate for my hair type - in fact, Aveda salons do not even allow it to be done. Please, stay away. more

fun salon in boulder! 2/3/2011

I have been going to Rachel Fox for a long time. She is now working at Zing salon in Boulder. The salon has a fun atmosphere and an up-beat staff. Rachel is very creative and thorough. I change my hair about once every three months and have a hard time verbally expressing what is in my mind. Rachel always knows exactly what I want. I have extremely curly/frizzy hair which I have struggled with my whole life. Rachel knew exactly what treatments to use on my hair without damaging it. Since I started going to Rachel my hair has been in the best condition that it has ever been! My hair used to be my least favorite feature, worn most in a ponytail or bun. Thanks to Rachel I wear it down and feel beautiful every day! I love Zing but will continue to follow Rachel to whatever salon she works at :-) more
