My hair looks and feels awesome after getting my color done at zing! I got so many compliments on how much younger I looked .So excited to have found a salon that listened to what i wanted. When I got on citysearch today and read Zing's reviews, I was appalled. Recently, there have been quite a few vicious, extremely personal ""reviews"" of Joy Douglas, Zing's owner. The author(s?) of these reviews has been dragging her reputation through the mud, even sinking as low as calling Joy a ""fat toad,"" who does, ""trailer trash,"" hair and needs to go to rehab. This place is the best if you are looking for great service and attention, and absolutely outstanding hair cuts from Joy Douglas and her staff. Once again the majority of people writing posts talk nothing about the way this salon is run and focus more on the owner. This is a hair salon filled with highly energetic employees and all of you just sit here and say how horrible the owner is. I see Joy on average once again when I get my haircut from Travis Smith. He does an excellent job and Joy and I talk about all kinds of things. She is really friendly and has quite an outgoing personality. Those of you mentioning all these ridiculous accusations about her using illegal narcotics, where is the proof? If she really was highly involved in narcotics, do you not think that it would start to show somehow? Lay off talking all this negative stuff about anybody outside of work. This is a site meant to give negative or positive feedback based on your visit there. For some reason I don?t think that the majority of negative comments on here have any real credibility. Zing is my favorite salon. the art is so fun and so are the people. i love the dogs, the little black one is too cute! however what i like best is the are always open for walk-ins, that is so good for my schedule. Zing Hair is a high end hair salon located in downtown Boulder adjacent to the Pearl Street Mall. This salon is unique with extended hours of operation 10am to 10pm seven days a week. Ambiance is sheik, yet very personable with a warm group of generous, dedicated stylists. Cute little dogs are available to hold ranging in size from 2.5lbs to a small toy poodle! Loads of hair care products, treats including gourmet caramel popcorn make getting a haircut seem like a sweet vacation. The owner oversees the quality of every haircut always lending a hand or a dedicated hair color formulation. A relief to have ownership so invested in the haircuts Zing Hair Salon produces. Many new faces are always available to try at Zing, however there is a solid core staff that has held the reputation of beautiful color and cuts.(Hilary, Jarred, Dave, Travis, and of course Salina!) This salon sets the bar for cleanliness...faint smells of bleach is present any morning after the morning openings. The stylists stations are craftsmen with loads of hair products and yes sanitation jars on every station. Crazy stylists/owner is a definition of an artist to one, mad man to some and eccentric to yet others. Accusations are not necessary to determine if your haircut and experience will denote an exceptional experience. What a wonderful time! I got a fabulous hair-cut from Zara!! She was extremely professional, talked me through the entire cut and gave me all the information I needed to recreate the style. Zara worked in LA-she was so experienced....this is refreshing for Boulder. The salon was beautiful, hip and extremely clean. I loved the pink poodle, met the owner, and had treats including an root beer in an icy mug. I thought the entire staff was very friendly and had a great feel to the place. Every one seemed to be complimentary and the owner acknowledged my cut as fabulous as I left the salon. See Zara for a haircut she is the best!! I went to Zing because my friend always has fabulous hair and she gets her hair done by Joy, the owner of the salon. When I got there the staff was super friendly and offered me a beverage and I got in right away with Ashley, a new stylist at Zing. I got the best highlight I've ever had in my life. I was a little skeptical when she told me that she was going to cut my hair dry, but she re assured me by reminding me that since we wear our hair dry, why not cut it how we wear it, and I got a killer cut and actually love my shorter bangs. As a stylist at Zing hair I am outraged and appalled at the personal attacks against not only Joy Douglas (owner), but Zing itself. Zing is a terrific salon! We strive to maintain high standards of cleanliness, customer satisfaction, and fantastic personal attention. We realize that we are not perfect, but to suggest that the salon is dirty, that their is use of illegal substances, or that we are sharing inappropriate information with our clientele is a complete fabrication by jaded ex-employees who's personality or work ethic did not coincide with Joy's or Zing's expectation. I went to zing as a walk in client, Kelly was my stylsit who just started at the Zing salon. She was very knowlgdeable and does outstanding work, very prof, Only one thing i did not agree with was the music was a little loud and the dogs barking but other then that price was good and staff was pleasant. Last weekend I was in a wedding, and had an appt at Zing. I went in for an updo. It came out absoultley beautiful!!! I took some forget me knots (little flowers) to see if they could add to the updo. The Stylist, I believe her name was Seline, was able to put them in and get them to stay put. I had so many compliments by the end of the night it was great. I live in Cherry Creek but was in Boulder over the weekend visiting with friends. They took me to see the Pearl Street mall and after some shopping, and some yummy lunch my friend took me into Zing. What a great place that was. I had a little bit of a wait, but with no appointment I was happy to be fit in at all. The people there were very nice and personable and my stylist was the best. I am one of those extremely picky people that make hairdressers run screaming the other way. I was very impressed, she did not even flinch when I told her what I wanted. She took time to listen to me (didn't rush me so she could move on) and made me feel like I was the only thing on her mind. Very nice change of pace from a salon where you can tell that the stylists are pushed to get them in and out as fast as possible to make more money. I loved this place so much that I have scheduled two future visits for other services. I am more than happy to make the drive from Cherry Creek until Zing expands and opens a shop in my area (I can only wish). Boulder is beautiful anyway but this shop is worth the drive and the time. So last week my hair was a wreck. I have a 3 month old and really haven't been able to do anthing with my hair that looks decent. My color was all washed out and my cut just wasn't working. I was up shopping in Boulder when I came across Zing. I popped in to see if there was anything available and to my surprise there was. From the moment I walked in I was relaxed, Salina sat with me and I explained how I have no time for anything anymore not even myself, so I needed something that looked really great with hardly any work. When she was done and I looked in the mirror I was in aw. I had great looking highlights and a cut short layered cut that I could easily shower and go. I must say after this experience I will be returning. I have already made my followup appt. for 6 weeks to touch up my color and my cut !! I LOVE THIS PLACE, AND ESPECIALLY MY NEW STYLIST !!!! I have known Joy and Zing Salon for over 2 years. I will never allow anyone else to touch my hair. She is the first person who has been able to deal with my disaster of a mop.. and I get stopped on the streets by people asking where I got my color done. The customer service is amazing... they offer you a soda or water while you wait, there are always fun treats, sometimes popcorn, sometimes a chocolate fountain! They carry amazing product.
