Editorial review from Citysearch 8/24/2012

Two dogs boarded for a week; one was mauled the first evening, the other contracted kennel cough. In Wuf defense they did pay for the vet bill on the mauled dog...But had they been the premier ""we understand what your pet needs"" type of boarder that they claim to be this would not have occurred. We will not be returning and would not recommend them. more

Great Place! 10/14/2011

I rescued my Shi Tzu mix a couple of weeks ago and decided to take him to Wuf Spa to get groomed. Shannon did an awesome job with Teddy. She could tell that he was not use to getting groomed and was nervous, so she groomed him in stages to make him feel more comfortable! Plus he was able to play in doggie daycare (it more

Love this place!!!!! 8/29/2011

I boarded my dog at Wuf a couple of weeks ago in a premiere suite. I was very nervous because I have never boarded him before but when I dropped him off the staff was very comforting and reassuring. They even upgraded him to a penthouse so I could get on the webcam and peek in on him! I was also able to watch him on the daycare webcam. He was a little timid at first but one of the play therapists began playing ball with him and he perked right up! I would definitely recommend this place and plan on using their services again. more

BEWARE!!! 7/19/2011

My daughter boarded her English Mastiff Pablo this weekend for one day. She dropped him off Saturday and picked him up late Sunday. When he got home she noticed he was limping and all four paws were tender. She called yesterday (Mon.) and was told that it was probably the hot rocks on which he had been walked and that they did not know he was not used to walking on hot rocks. Our vet said that he thought a hot surface was unlikely the reason because a dog would be whining to get off if that was the case and could probably be caused by chemical burns due to cleaning agents. Either way, I think this is unacceptable. I WOULD NOT USE THIS FACILITY AGAIN. more

Please do not go there. 4/30/2011

The groomer did NOT cut any hair off. The day came that we wanted her to get the spa done. We called Wuf Spa and set up an appointment for 9:00 am. We made it there at nine (coming 45 min. away, but it was okay because I thought my Layla was going to have a spa done) the lady at the front was amazing with me and her. She asked me how I wanted Layla's coat cut, I let her know and she was very understanding. She told me the groomer will be there shortly and get started. I left and decided to go to Starbucks to do work. Four hours pass and I was wondering how my Layla was doing, so I called. I asked ""How is Layla? Is everything OK with her?"" She transferred me to the groomer. I asked again ""How is Layla? Is everything OK with her?"" The groomer replied ""Why do you want her coat cut?"" I let her know why and she told me that she wouldn't do it because my type of dog's hair should stay how it was. I took this as saying something like my dog’s breed should have a certain length of hair; and what I wanted did not matter to the groomer. I repeated why again and she said the same thing. The groomer added ""I gave her a bath and got a lot of hair off her coat."" I then decided I'm just going to pick up my daughter. Once I made it there the lady at the front was helpful again and said she will get my Layla. When she left I decided to look around. What I noticed was in the small and large dog “play area” the dogs were standing there and so were the guards (workers). They were not playing and I observed this for about 10 minutes. I feel as if the workers should be playing other customers kids as that is why they pay for the service. After time has passed I heard a blower going and asked the worker at the front desk “What’s taking so long?” he went through the back way of the room and I heard him ask over the blower “He wants to know what is taking so long?” The blower stopped then he came out a couple second later with my daughter, soaked. She was extremely happy to see me. I was very upset and walked out. I was outside with her letting her run around and decided to smell her. It did not smell of any soap. From my perspective, the way that it seemed was that: She was there for four hours in a random place locked in a kennel. Nothing was done to her. When I called I was only five minutes way, so when I made it there they did not have enough time to complete what they told me they already done. To me it feels like someone was locked in a cage for four hours and when I told the people watching her I am on my way, they grabbed her out the cage quickly and sprayed her with water. more

I love Wuf Spa & so does my dog! 3/3/2011

I love Wuf Spa & so does my dog. He has gone to daycare & boarding for 3 years now. Convenient location, friendly staff and affordable. Great & safe place to take your dog. more

Great PLace 1/26/2011

I have taken my dog Indy for the past 3 years, everyone there is great. Indy is sitting by the front door every morning waiting to get in the car. They treat her like she is their own. My son now uses them to board his dogs when he is out of town. All of the staff knows me by my name not just Indy's mom. If you pup need special attn this is the place. They are Great. more

Under new management! Great place! 11/27/2010

Ignore the other reviews. They were written by an old disgruntled owner. \r \r Wuf is an fantastic place to board your pet. If it isnt, then why was it voted ""best pet boarder"" of 2010 in D's Magazine? All I have to say is go in and see for yourself.\r \r The daycares are open, and monitored all day. The suites are amazing (some with cameras). And the staff is incredibly knowledgable & very polite. \r \r My advice is to make your own opinion after you go in for a tour. Im sure you'll be pleasently surprised. more

Avoid this place 8/26/2010

Wuf Pet Resort and Spa is not a business that employs experienced pet caregivers. They have endangered several pets and allowed a few of them to be seriously injured. The manager that kept your pets safe is no longer there! They didn’t tell anyone she was gone. \r \r I knew something was different when I last allowed my dog to go to Wüf. I shouldn’t have left her there. Now it’s owned and managed by people with no experience with packs of dogs or caring for dogs they don’t know well. They don’t have overnight staffing and their daytime staff is clueless. Ask them a question and get a questionable answer in response. \r \r The last time I was in, I asked to speak to the new owners and the employee told me they don’t come in and don’t work there. She said she didn't know how to get a hold of them. I asked who managed the place when they are gone. She told me he doesn’t work weekends. more

Dog came back with large cuts on nose and sick! 4/27/2010

Well, after reviewing many places I settled on WufSpa. I live in Las Colinas so I thought this would be a good place to go. Boy was I wrong! My dog stayed there for 5 days and came back with pieces of his nose sliced off like he had been in a bar brawl. The worst part about that is I discovered this once I was bathing him at home. They didn't even have the courtesy to tell me what happened. It was obvious that they knew because there was some type of medication on his nose. My dog is a yorkie and is very non-confrontational, so I am wondering what happened? I was very abrasive about putting my dog in the daycare it offers with the boarding service, but I thought it would do good to have him mingle with other dogs since he would be there for almost a week. I called and checked on him daily an the workers always said he was doing ""awesome""......well they must have been talking about someone else's dog. Funniest part about that is that when we came to pick him up we asked for him by name and they had no idea who he was......so how did they know he was doing well when we called? Additionally, I believe my dog has kennel cough and will be seeing the vet tomorrow. It makes me wonder did all of the dogs have the required shots or do they not update their records after the first visit? Needless to say, I will not be going back. If you must use them, please take my advice and do not let your ''SMALL'' dog in their daycare. The webcam is nice, but most of the time you can't see what is going on. I recommend that you look around and find somewhere else for your family friend. Cons: Understaffed, Not truthful, Cleanliness, Record keeping more

First time boarding my Baby-Absolutely Awesome! 4/5/2010

I boarded my 9 month old Lab, Ranger, this past Saturday afternoon/night at Wufspa. I have to say they were really awesome! I have never boarded him before so I was very nervous even though I had seen their facility, met some of their friendly staff, and asked every question imaginable. I looked at 5 other facilities before I chose Wuf. Their staff was great. The facility was clean and nice. They were very patient, reassuring, and were happy to accomodate my requests. I chose the Penthouse Suite, which had 2 beds, both with pillow top mattresses, nice bedding and bright colored throw pillows, a nice throw rug on the floor, flat screen tv (i'm not sure when they turned this on or if they did-forgot to ask) and a webcam for me to watch him. They let me prepare his bedding and put his favorite toys in his suite myself, they took the time to show me how to use the webcam (which was one of the main reasons I chose them). Sounds dumb, but I was a wreck dropping him off and the girl who checked me in was very sweet and reassuring that they would take excellent care of him and not to worry. AND THEY ABSOLUTELY DID! \r I watched him on the webcam almost hourly to check on how he was doing-even in the middle of the night. The staff in the daycare area kept close watch over them during playtime to make sure that if there were ""accidents"", they were cleaned up immediately, making sure there was no fighting, humping, etc. Ranger was a ""humping victim"" for a few minutes, but one of the guys (not the girl who was suppose to be watching them in the play area-which is my only complaint really since she wasn't paying attention!) stepped in and removed the dog who was doing the chasing/humping. \r They also gave me a schedule of what time daycare ended, what time he would be fed and walked, what time he would wake up, go outside to potty, and go back to daycare. I was watching at each of these times and they were right on the money every time! I even witnessed him getting his morning belly rub when they went into his suite. \r When I went to pick him up, one of the girls told me that he hadn't eaten his breakfast (which is normal for first-time boarders). She said when she went back and noticed that he hadn't eaten, she poured some warm water on his food and mixed a little wet food with it and then HAND FED him. Now that is something you will NOT find in most places if I had to guess!\r If you are reading this review, I'm sure it's because you love your dog. No one loves their dog more than I do and I would ABSOLUTELY take him to Wuf again! You can tell these people really love the animals and that they take pride in their work! Pros: Personalized, Friendly Staff goes the extra mile-CLEAN! more

TLC and safety for your dog 2/2/2010

I have never felt comfortable boarding my dogs anywhere. They are my children, and until now, I've only trusted them with family. Wuf is a beautiful facility - from the pens to the suites, it's done the way I would do it if I had a boarding place. The staff truly loves the dogs, and the owner is the sweetest person ever. I know they will treat my babies as I would. My dogs love it at Wuf. When I pull into the parking lot, my dogs go crazy with excitement. They don't even notice I've left. I have been taking them to daycare, and boarding, since Wuf opened. It's the best place ever! Pros: Beautiful facility, great attitude, amazing accommodations more

Great Place for your dog while you're away to play! 1/25/2010

We take our dog to Wuf Spa every time we go out of town and he loves it there. They will cater to his dietary requests and unique behavior in the play room and he loves them! We love that we can pay an extra fee to arrange an off-hour pick up time- such a customized menu of services. I've never had a hidden fee or anything I wasn't expecting - it's all very clearly outlined on the website based on the type of boarding you reserve and any extras you add on for grooming or off-hour pick up. I also check in on him regularly using the web cam features and he always comes home tired and happy. We would definitely recommend this place. Pros: Caring staff and owner, lots of pampered perks Cons: not closer to my house! more

only place I trust with our 3 dog 1/25/2010

I highly recommend WUF. We've been very satisfied customers for over a year. With three dogs, I have tried several different boarding and day care facilities in D/FW over the past few years. WUF is the first place that has won me over as a loyal client. I know our dogs are very well taken care of while boarding; they are happy when I drop them off as they get run and play all day. WUF has been very flexible when I need to adjust pick up or drop off times last minute. They have accommodated every request I've made such as not separating two of our dogs overnight due to their separation anxiety, etc. I appreciate Jennifer's attention to detail and have always found her to be professional, sincere and very focused on the care of Chick, Chuck and Miss Cleo. What more can I saw than - there is almost nothing we love as much as our dogs - and with lots of other places we've tried, WUF is the first and only place I truly feel good about boarding them and am happy to trust them with our 'kids'. Pros: excellent care and very accommidating more

Disgruntled Former Employee Reviews 1/22/2010

I bring my dog to Wuf each week for daycare and to board at least once a month. Recently, I noticed changes in staffing. I asked the owner if everything was OK and she said, ""if I can't trust them with my own dog, I would not trust them with yours."" The owner of this business really cares about her clients (both human and canine) and has gone the extra mile with Wuf. I can't imagine leaving my dog with anyone else! Please pay no attention to the negative reviews posted recently. They are from former employees that the owner had good sense to let go. I encourage you to stop by Wuf and take a tour. You will love it! Pros: Great dog care, clean facility, Cons: Humans can't vacation there more

The owner is absolutely HORRIBLE! I wont take my dog back 1/18/2010

This place has such a HIGH employee turn over that you never know what kind of a person will be taking care of your dog when you bring them in! No employee has been properly trained on how to handle the dogs. And the worst part? They are lying to your face. No one is actually there 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The owner will --> LIE <-- to you to get you in the door ! And probably lie to you about how your pet's stay actually went. I would rather take my dog and leave him in the backyard than take him back to wuf spa. The owner is the worst part of this bussiness! DONT USE WUFSPA! Pros: Employees are nice, web cams are neat Cons: the owner/management is terrible, too many hidden fees more

WUF DOES NOT CARE 12/21/2009

I also just had an unpleasant experience with Wuf pet resort- there were all kinds of hidden charges and I had a legitimate complaint that was ignored. They showed no compassion to our family- I had to board my dog last minute because my father in law had just died- and when I picked him up the bill far exceeded what had been discussed in advance. The people who have shared that all the owner cares about is your money are absolutely correct. My dog will never go back here. Pros: Nice facility - workers are nice Cons: Added fees never discussed owner lacks compassion more

Resolved 12/6/2009

Very good owner who successfully resolved my compliant. I cannot comment on the quality of service, but I do know someone else who takes there dogs there and is very satisfied. more

nice doggie daycare/hotel. 9/19/2009

Friendly staff, it's very clean, and my dog is always excited when I drop him off in the mornings for day care or to board him. The best thing is you can check on your dog via internet...which I always do at work or when I have to go out of town...and I feel reassured that Bo is well taken care of and he's enjoying himself. Pros: can check in on your dog via internet more

Horrible Horrible place to board your dog 6/25/2009

WUF does not even deserve the 1 star that they are getting on this review!!!!! I have never had a bad experience boarding my dog before, but that's because I've never gone to Wuf before. I dropped my dog off for memorial day weekend, and when I picked him up, his head was swollen to twice the size it should be. They told me that when taking him out to walk, another dog which was aggressive somehow got out of his run and they got into a fight. That night when I got my dog home I noticed that he was very lethargic and he also wouldn't eat. I immediately took him to the emergency vet where they gave him fluids and treated him with benadryl and antibiotics. His temperature was 103 and the vet was really worried about his organs at that temperature. They had not done ANYTHING for my dog-not even clean his wounds, which eventually got infected, even with antibiotics. I have now been to my regular vet 5 times since this happened, and treated him for an abscess on the head. When I talked to the owner about the situation, she was incredibly rude to me, blamed me for the incident, and was just downright horrible. Needless to say that I have not been able to recoup any of my $1500.00 worth of vet bills since this occured, nor the money that I spent on boarding. I don't think that these people care about dogs at all, I think all they care about is $$$$. DO NOT BOARD YOUR ANIMALS HERE!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: No Pros Here Cons: $1500 worth of vet bills later more
