I went to this salon to fix a bad haircut and get a consult on color. I was referred to Patrick for both a corrective cut and color. Patrick was very personable, friendly, and knowledgable. He suggested a great color for my hair. I have received a lot of complements on the color and it makes my dry somewhat frizzy hair look smoother and shinier. We agreed I needed to let the cut grow out a bit before he could truly fix it, although he did make some minor helpful adjustments to the cut. The entire staff was friendly, the salon's atmosphere was pleasant, and the waiting area was stocked with really nice refreshments (Starbucks coffee and fresh lemonade among them). I will definately come back to this salon and will make another appointment with Patrick. more

I have lived in the City for 15 years and have tried many different salons in my search for the perfect manicure. I'm picky when it comes to my mannies and peddies and Maggie never fails to deliver - French, too!! more

Maggie is an exceptional nail tech--she really studies your nails and finds the best way to treat them. She is pleasant to talk with, efficient, and above all, very, very good at what she does! Renata gives marvellous facials. She gives your skin her full attention and recommends treatments that would benefit your skin. Her facials are both stimulating and restful, and you will feel the results not only that day, but for days to come! Pros: Excellent service and product more

I've only had a facial once before in my life. It was just an ok experience, so when I was searching for a facial to rejuvenate my dry winter face for my sister's upcoming wedding, I was hesitant. Nicole at Joseph Michael's was recommended by a stylist friend so I gave it a whirl. The facility was extremely relaxed and calm. Chocolates at the front desk, hot tea or coffee while you wait and cucumber water after...how can that be wrong? After waiting seconds, Nicole came out to the waiting lounge, greeted me and put me completely at ease. The facial room was seperate and enclosed and prepared with music, an apple cider smell and soft lighting. The bed was heated, sheets soft and I was given a freshly washed wrap wound towel with snaps to change into. Before we started, Nicole assessed my skin while taking into consideration my lifestyle. She gave me a few key pieces of advice to follow and explained in detail what products we were using and why they suited my skin. The session itself was amazing. I don't want to give too much away, but there were lots of smelly good washes, creams, a mask and massage. Afterwards I didn't even want to move. My skin looks amazing. She managed to rejuvenate my combination skin, clear the blackheads from my nose and reduce the puffiness under my eyes. She even recommended a new cleanser and scrub to help maintain the results. I just want to thank Joseph Michael's Salon Sypros and Managers for declining my business. Thank you for being dishonest with me from the start and over charging me, then calling and telling me that you don't want business. I think the salon is unprofessional in many ways. They know they mistreated my visits and instead of owning up to their mistakes they declined the services. I will make sure this goes into chicago scene and social for guests/clients to not have any services done with them. Very bad customer service, and thank you for reminding me of this. I went to Charles for a haircut a month ago and he was the best! I've had a string of bad haircuts and Charles fixed it! He was so friendly and spent a lot of time getting to know me and what I wanted. Needless to say, I walked out of there with the best haircut I've had in years! You have to experience it to believe it! I've already booked my next appointment and can't wait! Thanks Charles, you're the best!! more

I was in desperate need of some relaxation so I decided to get a facial and massage. Bobbie was my Esthetician I enjoyed my sessions with her because I can just relax and let the stress of the day slip by. I truly recommend Bobby to anyone that appreciates the best in life. You come out of there very relaxed and calmed. The massage seemed to take away all my cares. Bobbie did my facial as well and let me tell you, she made some great recommendations and gave me some great skin tips. Initially, I had requested the European facial and after looking at my skin she recommended to add Luminous "C" & "Sea" Lift-Off Mask which left my skin fresh and glowing. I highly recommend this Spa, clean, nice and a great job; what more could I ask for? more

I've had massage with Bobbie and it was amazing !!! As soon as she touched me I felt at ease and could sense my body was starting to let go, she did this one movement that literally heated the area where she was working on and used long strokes down my back, which made me feel like my back was getting a nice stretch. I loved the face and head massage during which I actually drifted away, which has never happened before. Try Bobbie's massage and I know that your body and soul will thank you for it ! She is the best !!! more

I recently went to Trio salon in Wicker Park and received the worst haircut by one of the students there. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made by trusting my hair into the hands of an apprentice. He gave me a terrible cut and cut off 8 inches of hair leaving it into a short bob with uneven bangs. For the first time, I was literally running out of the salon crying. That was the last time I will ever set foot in that salon. I was so upset and desperate to find a place that can save my hair and stumbled upon Joseph Michael's. I called the salon and made an appointment with Megumi the next morning. At first I wasn't sure if anything can be done to my hair because it was already too short. After I met Megumi, she took a look at it, consulted me about what I would like to do with my hair and what can be done to save it. After the cut I was still in awe at how she managed to save that terrible cut I had. Everyone who saw my hair complimented it and was surprised with how Megumi turned the hair that was once a lost cost, into a great cut. Not only that, she understands my hair texture, styled my hair and made it look great. I was treated very nicely and everyone was very friendly. It was nice to go to an upscale salon that doesn't make you feel judged and also made me feel very comfortable. Overall I think I've found my match and I'm definitely sticking with this salon and Megumi! Pros: Nice staff and front desk, comfortable setting, great haircut. more

I just had my color, high-lites and trim by Charles and I love it !!! The minute we started talking about my hair I felt that I can totally trust his recommendations and I was right, he is so talented and such a sweetheart that I am definitely coming back. He had chosen the color that makes my eyes pop and the high-lites are perfect, subtle but noticeable, my hair looked so good I wish I had a date that night ! You've got to see him and you'll love what he will create for you ! more

I recently had an appt. with Nicole at the salon. I was running very short on time and after my waxings were finished I had to run out before she could even really clean me up let alone moisturize. Sounds crazy to anyone who's been waxed before. To my suprise because Nicole is just that good at what she does, not a problem occoured. No dry skin...nothing. Now, while I certainly don't recommend purposely not moisturizing and what not, once in a while won't hurt you if you have a knowldegable and capable aesthetician like Nicole. Pros: There's a little bit for everyone here!!! Cons: None, it's across the street from Roy's even!!! more

I have been going to Anna for almost a year and I love her. She is a great stylist/colorist and very accommodating. She knows what looks best for you and is not afraid to tell you when she thinks a style is going to be wrong for you. She always has a sunny disposition and she makes you feel like a million dollars. more

I only visit this spa for facials, brow and lip waxes. Ask for Charmaine. She does a great job. After a facial, I usually come out very relaxed, as if I just had a massage. She never leaves the room. At the time when most technicians would leave the room and just leave you there "relaxing" (so they say), Charmaine gives you the best scalp and neck massage. You can have a great conversation with her, yet, when it comes time to relax, not a word is said. more

For the last four years, Sonya has been my hair color guru. Each time I walk out of Joseph Michael's I am re-energized and feel amazing! You wouldn't believe the looks I get walking back home from the salon. When I sit down in Sonya's chair, I never really have a plan for my hair because I know that she will. I trust Sonya to do what is in my best interest and I'm always thrilled with the end result. Sonya always gives me her honest opinion her extensive knowledge about hair color is demonstrated by the fact that my hair always looks natural, modern and polished. Sonya's down to earth attitude, fresh perspective and fun personality are contagious. I feel like I've known her forever and I don't trust my hair to anyone else. more

This is the only place in Chicago where I've actually gone BACK to get my hair cut. That's a real feat for me. I've been in Chicago for 3 years, and whenever I've gone to get a haircut at other salons, I've always been not quite happy about it. I thought it was just me and the whole "give it two weeks to grow in" thing, but after getting my cut from VESNA, I've realized that it wasn't me. Vesna listens to what you actually want and is extremely meticulous. I have long hair and like to have it layered, and she has been the best by far. Even coming from New York City, I think she has given me the best cuts I've had ever! more

I just wanted to write a few words about my Hair Stylist Stevie. I followed her to Joseph Michael's Salon from Salon 1800. She is the Best ! Not only does she know about color and style for my type of hair, she is an interesting, intellegent person. I look forward to my appt.s with her. She is always smiling....that is why I left my neighborhood salon. Stevie..... she is a professional with a great attitude and beautiful smile ! more
