I first consulted with Spyros after considering extensions for years due to my hair being too thin to ever grow past a certain length. After the first time I got them done, I was hooked! Spyros goes to great lengths [literally!] to apply the extentions properly in order to NOT damage my natural hair.. he is meticulous and truly wants to do a perfect job when applying them. Even when he takes them out, my hair is never damaged and in fact, has actually improved in quality since I've been getting extensions done [4 times now]. They really are unnoticeable, as my biggest fear was that people would detect that it was not all my real hair.. but nobody has yet. I can't imagine going without them, as it has become part of my look and made me so much more comfortable with my appearance. Not only that, I can't imagine trusting anyone else but Spyros with the task of working with my extensions - he is amazing! more

This had to be one of the best experiences I have had getting my hair done in Chicago (and I have been all over)! This is also my first review on this site and I felt this experience was worth mentioning. I went to Ashley, who was the best as she REALLY listened to me, gave me the most gorgeous blond highlights and repaired my damaged tresses with great conditioning and cut. It can be nerve wracking to go to someone new and to get the perfect blond, not brassy or stripey highlights and she was such a pro. Ashley is truly talented artist who really cares about her craft! It was so relaxing too, everyone was incredibly nice, and the location is great. Can't say enough great things about this place! I will definitely go back and recommend Joseph Micheals to all of my friends. more

From the moment you step into this beautiful salon there is not only a sense of arrival...there is an immediate calm that envelops you. I have enjoyed and been amazed at the excellence of the spa features such as facials and mani pedis and hit the jackpot when I was referred to Shelly for my hair. I have short, colored hair, and love change. Could be platinum for the summer and auburn for the winter....One wonders how much change can come to short hair?!?!? Shelly always has a new idea, a tweaking that could change the look, a product that may totally change the style. Changing color, changing style I have found the the best of both worlds. Shelly listens, Shelly will be honest on behalf of your best interests and most importantly she is a precision cutter and great colorist. Did I mention her sense of humor? I have been researching hair extensions for about 5 years and was pretty set on getting Great Lengths. I just was nervous about actually making the decision to get them and was not sure where to go. I found excellent reviews for Spyros and finally bit the bullet and called him last week. He had me come in for a free consultation that Saturday and I was so impressed. He is personable and friendly and was so patient with me (I asked alot of questions!). I decided I wanted to go ahead and book an appointment, figuring it would be a few weeks. To my surprise and delight he said he supposed I wanted them before the holidays and managed to get me in before Christmas. I had them done today and am absolutely thrilled. I only wanted volume (not length) and that is exactly what I got! He matched my haircolor perfectly and I could not be happier. After he was finished, Eileen cut them and blended them and I feel like a new person. For the first time in years, I have nice hair. I brought a book along so I would not be bored, but I never even opened it. Spyros and I talked and got to know each other and the time flew. I will definitely be going back . I NEVER go on line and write reviews, but I want everyone to know how fantasitc he is! more

It's almost as if I never knew what a haircut was until I started making trips to Ashley's chair. It doesn't matter if you want to look totally business professional for your potentially life-changing interview tomorrow or completely crazy one-of-a-kind for the photo shoot you have with one of those super eccentric artists. I've had the pleasure of being her canvas on numerous occasions as well as witnessing the results of many other successful cuts by way of the many photo shoots and television spots her clients have done. Ashley is as creative as she is meticulous; and believe me, she is VERY meticulous. Not one hair out of place. If you want the best results with some great conversation to boot, I would recommend you sit in Ashley's chair and become a walking work of art. more

I don't have easy hair to work with, but when he blows out my hair it always looks and feels like silk. I can take a picture to him for a haircut and he cuts my hair exactly like the picture, that is unless he feels it doesn't suit my face shape then he suggests modifications to the haircut that will suit me better. He always takes his time to make sure my haircut comes out perfect. My hair always looks amazing. Also, he consulted me about the best color and highlights for my skin tone, and the color came out perfect. He is very friendly and professional, and he makes sure I feel comfortable and relaxed. Edwin is awesome and Joseph Michael's has the best talent around. more

Ashley is fantastic. She has gone to excellent schools. I met her at the completion of her Advanced Training Program at Joseph Michael, over two years ago. At that time, I had been in search of a new salon for over a year. Ashley and Amy were so laid back. Ashley is very artistic and when she performs her work it's like a craft. She is very meticulous. My full head of blond highlights, and low-lights are always beautiful. She also fixed these "pre-Ashley", wacky layers, which are now "long" gone. The best aspect of Joseph Michael Salon, in addition to Ashley, is the ultra professional knowledge of haircare mixed in a relaxed environment. It's also extremely clean. Paul and Alison are also favorites. more

Ashley has never let me down with her creativity and knowledge of what cut would be best and yet still trendy for me. She knows what I want and gives practical tips on how to style it. She is truly a gem and I have traveled from another state simply to have her cut my hair! more

I have been going to Amy for my cut and color for about 15 years. Although I now live in the suburbs, I wouldn't have anyone else touch my hair but her. I get my hair colored and cut every 5 weeks. She has the ability to color and cut my hair so that no one else would ever know that I needed a touch up. My cuts grow out beautifully and naturally. more

I won't let anyone else style or color my hair but Stacie. I have had stylists in the past, but I never found one that was able to fit the style to my face and personality. She listens to what is important to me, takes her time to make sure it is done to perfection, and is such a delight to talk to. She cares, not only about my hair, but who I am too. Even though I don't live close to the salon, I will wait until I can get Stacie to style & color my hair. What is great though, is the cut, no matter how long my hair gets, the cut is so good that it lays perfectly and always looks great. I get compliments on my hair all the time. If you are looking for a stylist that you will love - book with Stacie - she is amazing. The salon is very upscale looking, the staff is very friendly and they make you feel so special. I used to live in Chicago and went to Joseph Michael's at the old location. When I was visiting Chicago for the Bon Jovi concert I booked a mani/pedi for my sister and I. Best manicure and pedicure, hands down, that I've had in years. Neung is amazing. My nails looked beautiful and the polish stayed on my hands without a chip for over a week which is very very unusual as I'm on the computer all day long. My pedicure was just the best thing. While there on a Friday, I saw Ronnie who I knew from another salon, long ago and far away. He was doing an amazing cut on this woman...in fact all the cuts I saw when I was there on Friday were beautiful. Some were edgy, some were not, but they fit the client perfectly. That's how I judge a good salon; not all the clients coming out have the same cut and the cut and color fit the person. I asked Ronnie if he could cut my hair and they scheduled me and my sister for Saturday morning. The salon is very upscale, yet you feel wonderfully comfortable there. Some upscale, high-end salons have the rudest staff, but not at Joseph Michael. Everyone I dealt with was smiling, kind, and accomodating. My cut ROCKED. It was fresh and new and brightened up my whole look. I love Ronnie. I booked another appointment in October with him. He knows his stuff and he's fun. Thanks everyone. Shelly has always been a superb stylist, her skill is unmatched. Recently I discovered what a fab colorist she is too, Shelly changed my sister from a rich chochlate brown to a sexy blonde leaving her hair in the healthiest condition.not an easy task. My sister is a new woman!!! I always knew she had a vision for shape now I know what a keen eye she has for color too.Joseph Michael's Salon is a beautiful salon. I have had my nails and toes done a couple times by Samantha. She is great! I love my nails and they lastest a long time. (and trust me i am hard on my hands and feet) She was extremely sweet and the salon was beautiful and everyone was friendly. I will definitely be back! more

Go to this place on Ritchie and as for Shelly A. She gave me a complimentry consult on a keratin treatment and I'm so glad I had it done. It's worth every penny and my hair never looked so great. It's smooth, shiny and so easy to manage. It's cut back on the dry time and improved the appearance . It is a lifesaver! Best invention/product EVER!!!!!!! Plus Shelly knows how to apply it correctly. more
