Chicago has been graced with so many unique and incredible opportunities in business, entertainment, culinary delights, and the list goes on. It would only go to say that in keeping with Chicago’s lists of great fortune they would now be the benefactors of one of the best hair stylists in the world. And of course in keeping with Chicago tradition, at a fraction of the price we have paid for the privilege in Miami, and New York City. Gregory Dickinson recently moved from our little slice of paradise here in South Beach to be closer to his family and friends in Chicago, leaving behind a clientele wishing it wasn’t so. Many of us, me included have scrambled our staff and schedules to create business opportunities in Chicago to justify a flight to the windy city for a visit to Gregory’s new home Joseph Michaels Salon in the Gold Coast. How good is this guy? I am a 43 year old business executive who has lived in more than 14 states and a dozen countries over the years. Finding a good stylist is always a challenge and not an enjoyable process of trial and error. Even when you patronize the best salons with the best reputations, it’s hard to find the right stylist. Gregory is quite simply the best at what he does!! He is a humble guy so he won’t tell you but he was the Aveda stylist of the year a few years back “A BIG DEAL” as well as the head stylist at some big name salons in NYC. He’s done fashion shows for top designers, photo shoots for International fashion magazines and was a marquis stylist at Ric Pipino’s salon in the Shore Club on SOBE. For those not familiar with Pipino, he is regarded as one of the best if not best stylists in modern times and his client list is a celebrity who’s who, and only surrounds himself with top talent. The bottom line is this, Gregory Dickinson’s client capacity will fill up very quickly and this opportunity will be hard to come by again. While he was here in Miami you would have to wait until someone moved away to become a client. Many people believe a haircut is a haircut and in many cases they are right, but they haven’t had Gregory perform his artistic magic on them. So I use to see Gregory a couple of years ago in Chicago and then he went off to Miami to work with the stars. He's back in Chicago and I'm back to getting compliments on my hair. He does awesome color and incredible haircuts. My limp, lifeless hair is now funky, spikey and oh so easy to do. People stop me on the streets to ask who does my hair. Run don't walk if you want to work with a really talented and creative stylist. Pros: great salon, friendly people more

First time in the salon. I was nervous and was immediately put at ease with the smiling faces. Amy was the stylist and I must say did a fantastic job with my hair. It is so wonderful that it takes me a few minutes to blow dry and go. I have had 8 people ask where I got my hair cut and it has only been a week. Excellent job Amy! I will keep coming back. I currently drive 2 hours (one way) for an "Amy cut," and would never think of changing. She takes time to listen and is so skilled at creating the best look for any type of hair. Whether you are looking for a trim or a total change, Amy is the best! more

My hair had been seriously damaged by getting over-treated by another local salon. It was breaking off and falling out at an alarming rate. My color wasn't what I wanted, but the colorist at Mario Tricoci would not respond to my concerns. I went to JM and met with Edwin and he saved my hair. He was able (over time) to get all the dead and over-processed hair dealt with and my hair feels great and looks great for the first time in a long time. He listened to what I wanted to do with my color and responded in a big way. I trust my look to Edwin and Joseph Michaels. Pros: Great cut, great color, listens to me more

I moved to Chicago from Denver after getting my hair highlighted for the first time ever in Denver I wanted to get my hair done by someone who would get what I wanted. Stacie is amazing and has been doing my color and styling ever since I moved here. She is awesome! more

I've gone to Ashley Jensen, currently of Joseph Michael's Salon and Spa, for years for haircuts and eyebrow help, as well as ocassionally for highlights, and I've never had a more satisfying experience. She's friendly, she asks questions to find out what you want, and she does exactly what you're asking for, but it turns out even better than what you thought it would! I would recommend her to anyone looking to be completely satisfied and confident about the way they look after having gone to her. I've been going to Neung at Joseph Michael's for my manicures and pedicures for over 3 years now and am pleased to write that she gives me the best nail service I've ever received. I always feel so welcome when I walk in the door at Joseph Michael's; I live in the neighborhood and appreciate that the staff and atmosphere is laid back and non-pretentious. In addition to doing the best manicures around, Neung is also one of the sweetest and kindest people I've ever met. Once she gave me her umbrella on a rainy day so I didn't get wet walking back to work after my lunch hour mani! She always goes the extra mile so I don't mind paying a bit more for such excellent service. I'm extremeley picky and detail-orientated when it comes to my appearance so it takes a lot to please me- that being said I highly recommend Joseph Michael's! For many years I have worked with my stylist, Amy, who is skilled in her profession, friendly to all, customers and coworkers alike. As soon as I began going to her, I stayed!! I have never been dissatisfied with her results, but always feel great with a new haircut or highlights that she has done for me. Lately I have also worked with Edwin, who is a new stylist, but well on the way to becoming also one of the best. I moved to chicago 4 years ago and would go home to my stylists every time I needed my hair done because I am so picky...One of my friends had her hair done by Stacie and it was so amazing and perfect I decided to let her do mine...I WILL NEVER GO TO ANYONE ELSE AGAIN!
