Let's face it -- there are few things in life that make us feel as good as having a perfect haircut. Amy's been cutting my hair for over 15 years now and my cuts are always perfect and spot-on gorgeous. Strangers stop me in the street to ask where I got my hair cut! And, I was so happy when Joseph Michael's moved to their new location on Ritchie Court -- it's a beautiful salon in a great location. The atmosphere of the salon is sleek and attractive, and is very comfortable. I have been going to Patrick for almost 15 years and there are no words to describe the consistent, professional service I have received from him - he is the best! My appointments were always scheduled at the end of my stressful work day and Patrick was always waiting there for me with a smile...and a glass of wine! Patrick was always willing to work with my ever-changing ideas about new hairstyles, color options and product choices - he cared about my hair issues. My hair became more difficult to control over the years and Patrick was always researching to find new solutions to my problems. This year Patrick was trained to become certified to do the Keratin Complex Smoothing Treatment and he thought I would be the perfect candidate. This treatment does not harm your hair in any way and was advertised to make it more manageable. I jumped at the chance to have it done and my only words to describe this treatment for me is life-changing! Patrick was meticulous when he was putting the treatment on my hair - when he was finished I could not believe it was my hair I was staring at in the mirror - and now 5 months later it still looks fabulous. That all being said you can only imagine my disappointment when Patrick told me he was moving to Arizona to open up his own salon. I am very happy for him - I know he will do well - but once word spreads about the new Russo Salon I have one piece of advice for the women in AZ - Patrick will be a hard guy to get into - make yourself a standing appointment - you will not be sorry. I have had a wonderful experience for over 6 years with Maggie as my manicurist. She is very professional and at the same time a pleasure. My nails have never been in better shape. I appreciate the fact that Maggie is always on time, I never have to wait for my appointment. I am very much someone who appreciates professionalism , which Maggie displays at every appointment. I hate to start this on a negative note, but nonetheless, Joseph Michael's is terribly over priced, and ridiculously OVER RATED. Do not trust these people, prices have a tendency to change, the stylists are sitting on a pedestal and will mangle your hair with their dangly arms. The manicurist must have Parkinson’s, because they can not draw a straight line to save their lives, the spa was okay, if it wasn't for the constant complaining of the persons life, the Massage was, non existent as the person was complaining about how much their arms hurt. DO NOT GO TO JOSEPH MICHAEL'S UNLESS YOU ARE REDICULOUSLY RICH AND WANT TO THROW YOUR MONEY AWAY ON LESS THAN ACCEPTABLE SERVICE. I have been a client of Patrick for over 19 years. In that time, I have NEVER had a bad haircut or color. He LISTENS!!! He will do what you want....IF you want his opinion, he will give it...telling you what he thinks would look best on you and what your hair can and can't do. If you have difficult hair, Patrick is the stylist for you! He's worked with me for over 21 years. I began losing my hair in my early 30's to my great distress. He always knew how to style and recommend the best products for my thinning hair. He made my difficult situation better and I truly appreciated him all these years. I was horrified to learn that he was relocating to Arizona but happy for the opportunity that it created for him. If you are in the Arizona area and looking to see what his customer base in Chicago thought of him, be reassured. He's really knows what he is doing and will help you. Most importantly he will work with you so that you don't end up going home with something you can't manage!!!! Our loss in Chicago, your gain in Arizona. I've been going to Patrick to have my hair cut for years. I was referred to him by a friend who raved about his abilities. He is a friendly, professional individual who listens to what you want rather than imposing on you what he wants. That is key for me. My most recent experience has been the best. After years of watching my hair turn grey I started thinking about coloring it. I talked with Patrick who gave me the facts - he did not push me either way. I was a bit nervous about it so we had several conversations over a period of months. Finally, I decided to take the plunge. I'm so happy that I did! First, all my grey is gone. My husband, family, friends, co-workers all have had the same reaction: 1) it looks fabulous, very natural, has taken 10 years off of me; 2) whoever did it, did a fantastic job and you need to keep him! Patrick is moving to Arizona to start his own business and people have gone so far as suggesting I might want to fly out there to have him continue to do my hair. Let's just say I'm thinking about it.... Sincerely, it has been a joy working with Patrick. Whoever is lucky enough to work with him in Arizona, I'll be envious of you! During a recent and brief trip to Chicago a few weeks ago, a friend and myself had selected this salon to have our hair cut as it had been long overdue for both of us. I had thick long dark hair which I had my reservations and fear about cutting but after having the accidental fortune of having Vesna cut my hair, I was so happy with the results! After describing to her about what I was going for along with how I would like it to be styled, boy did Vesna deliver! She trimmed, gave my hair form, and did so without compromising on the length - something I was a little concerned about initially! Another thing I deeply appreciated during my session with Vesna was she concentrated on what she was doing and she never forced conversation. I also was grateful that she took the time to painstakingly curl each lock with the curling iron :) She gave a lot of attention to detail and I cannot stress this enough - but amazing results! I hope to be able to emulate her technique when it comes to styling my hair but even so, the results were impeccable! My friend's hairstylist also did a great job, too! In short, Chicago and JMS are very lucky to have such talented stylists. Both I and my friend were relieved to have chosen JMS and recieved satisfactory results - we would definitely come back here again in future trips to Chicago and would highly recommend Vesna and the others at JMS with high esteem! I have bounced around several salons in the Chicago area, and have never become attached to any particular stylist. I just couldn't find someone who could translate my ideas into a reality. Enter Ashley. She took the time to listen to what I really wanted. After a thorough consultation, she crafted the perfect color for my skin tone and gave me the cutest bangs! I moved here 2 years ago from Miami and have been struggling to find a good Brazilian wax ever since. Renata at Joseph Michael's is simply amazing. I have been to several places in the city (and the nation) and she is by far the best wax-er I have ever experienced. My wax was literally 50% less painful than any other wax I have ever received. My mom had done a color treatment and haircut with Spyros. Oh My God, when I saw it, I was shocked! The reason my mom did a color treatment was because she wanted to cover her gray hair but after it's done, it's as if it has never been done! All her gray hair was still showing especially after the haircut. The haircut was HORRIBLE, I don't even know how to describe it. NEVER EVER have SPYROS do anything to your hair, period. Had haircut with James and Amy and they were okay but WAY TOO OVERPRICED for an okay service. Receptionists were not friendly either. Extremely disapointed! I don't know how they got good reviews. I came in for a wash, dry, and style. Edwin was completely professional, knew exactly how to style my hair, and was very thorough. I've never had someone take so much care and time with my hair, sometimes it can be a wash, quick dry, and you're out. I never felt rushed or hurried with Edwin (I have very thick hair, and it takes f-o-r-e-v-e-r to dry it). It's sometimes hard to know what you're getting when booking for the first time with someone, but I was astounded. My hair has never looked so fantastic! He's an expert at what he does, and it shows in the time and expertise he exhibits. I will definitely be booking an appointment with him again!! The spa itself had a clean relaxing atmosphere. I highly recommend Nicole C. at Joseph Michaels in Chicago. She analyzed my skin type, gave me some tips and performed one of the best facials I've ever had. It all started on a warm massage table with chill music and a blanket. The products felt really good on my skin and she told me why she was using each one. The eyebrow wax was a nice touch and Nicole made the normally painful process as pain free and quick as possible. The hot stone massage was an unexpected treat and helped me to further feel at ease. I asked and she gave me some good recommendations for skin products to use on my type of skin. She made sure I drank some water and delicious apple cider after I was finished. I left there with much firmer and visibly healthier skin. All this in a cozy peaceful atmosphere that provided me with some much needed relaxation. I will go back. Danny did an excellent massage. He asked what I wanted worked on and applied just the right amount of pressure. He made sure I had plenty of water. I left feeling relaxed and great!
