I'm the type of person that never goes twice to the same hair stylists because I'm always disappointed. This all changed when I sat in Megumi's chair. I brought a picture in of what I wanted and she did not disappoint. Soooo many people complimented my hair on streets. I recently went back with another hair style and this time she really out did herself!!! I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT!!!! and so did all of my co-workers..I never had so many people notice and compliment a hair cut...THANKS!! a million Megumi.... I started going to Michelle at Joseph Michael's a little over a year ago and I have loved every haircut, style, and color that she has done. Up until about a week ago, I had been getting blonde highlights and occasionally lowlights but recently I decided to color my hair a warm brown...I had been wanting to change my hair color for awhile now and finally we decided to just do it; Michelle did a wonderful job and I LOVE my hair!!! I definitely trust Michelle and I know that whatever she does will look great! Not only does she do great hair, she is also nice to talk to; everyone at the salon is always super nice and welcoming! I love when people ask who does my hair because I'm always so happy to tell them it's Michelle! Go to Joseph Michael's and see Michelle!!! Hello all you who want great lenghts extentions. DO NOT go to Josehp Michaels with Spyro. He just wants you in his chair, then he iconveniently leaves out the extra charge for the $80 hair cut and the $200 fee to take them out. The day I decided to get my hair done, I asked how much it would cost. He said $1700. Well, Spyro, next time be honest and tell your clients how much it will really cost. If you are looking for hair extensions,(That don't damage your hair and don't look like extensions) Spyros at Joseph Michael's is the person that you want to go to. His work is outstanding and he is a pleasure to spend a couple of hours worth. I have very short and very fine hair and people have no idea that I have extensions!! His work is the absolute best!! I just had my second set put in and once again I could not be happier!! Pros: outstanding work done by an outstanding Hair Stylist Cons: cost--but WELL worth it!! more

The salon and stylist were great. I stopped in 3 days before my wedding (our hotel was nearby) and was able to schedule an updo with Gordon for that Saturday morning. The price ($70) includes a preliminary consultation. My hair looked so elegant, and more importantly, felt natural. If you want something that is classy and doesn't look like prom hair, this is the man. He was gentle, didn't force conversation on me, and didn't even need a picture to know what kind of a style to create. I hadn't been to Joseph Michael's in a while, but now that my job has changed and I am nearby, I could not wait to go back! Plus I had a horrible haircut from another salon and needed a complete overhaul. Amy took the time to talk to me, ask questions, and find out what I was looking for. And boy did she ever deliver. Amy is the salon's director of education so she really knows her stuff. She's been styling hair in Chicago's finest salons for years now, and it is very apparent. Go to this stylist if you want the best, if you have an emergency, if you are looking for the best haircut for a special, once in a lifetime event- or if you just need a good haircut. I visited Joseph Michael's for the first time and was very impressed! Jason did my highlights...they were great and he was really fun to talk to. I had my waxing done by Nicole, who was awsome! One day on my lunch hour I decided to go into Joseph Michael's Salon and get my hair trimmed. Layne was available and am I ever glad! First, her shampoo was vigorating. Then her cut was percise. But the best part about it was her vibrant personality! I am a going to be a regular lunch-time customer. :) more

I have always wanted a cute short haircut. I made an appointment with Layne, hoping she would be the one who could give me a short cut that matched my hair type and face shape. AND SHE DID!! I love my hair! Layne took the time to listen to what I wanted and she then gave me her opinion. It is easy to style and always looks neat and fashionable. I also loved her vibrant personality. Absolutely amazing service from the moment I walked in the door. After reading reviews about the different massage therapists, I chose to have my swedish massage performed by Charamine. When I walked in, the sweet receptionist walked me back to the spa and offered me a glass of cucumber water. I sat down on an ultra soft sofa while I filled out my questionnaire form. A few minutes later I was greeted by Charamine who was such a gem. She made sure to ask me if there were specific parts of my body that I wanted her to focus on, as well as making sure I felt completely comfortable as well warm enough. I highly recommend Vesna for the latest in color and style. I went to see her a year ago and walked in with damaged hair from overprocessing and a perm. Vesna took the time to talk to me about what I wanted, she made suggestions, and honestly, I wish I would have done a before and after picture. I went from a very bad poneytail to a cut and color that framed my face. I received so many comments about how healthy my hair finally looked and how the cut was "awesome" for me. Needless to say, I have been seeing Vesna for the past year and have never been disappointed. I went in for a color this past week and the color gave me the bright summer look I wanted.. I also just wanted a trim, which is what I got as she just took off the ends and reshaped the cut. Fabulous job! more

Based on all the reviews I took a chance and made an appointment for a cut and highlights. My stylist was Vesna who was definitely well experienced and technically competent. I brought a couple photos of the short, layered look I had in mind for my dry, over-processed medium length bob. For the color, I just wanted to brighten up my too dark, home-done dye job with some natural-looking highlights. Vesna was very personable, listened to me and offered suggestions that sounded like just what I wanted. She said she wished she could have cut first and then colored which made a lot of sense but "that's not the way they had her scheduled" which made no sense to me at all. So, she had to apply color to the full length of my hair knowing that she was only going to then cut 75% off! Go figure. Anyway, bottom line is that when I went to pay, it was $220 before the tip which I think is high but would have been worth it if I loved the way I looked. Not even close. While both the cut and color were performed competently, the shape is all wrong for my face, and the highlights are virtually invisible. She did say it would lighten up a bit, and I have blown out my hair again this AM to try to "re-shape" it some but I'm still feeling extremely disappointed in how it looks and even more unhappy that I paid so much for it. I should mention that I went on a Wednesday evening which meant that I got to enjoy their complimentary wine & cheese. However, it didn't make me feel any better about the way I looked or the price I'd paid. Pros: Technically competent Cons: Results didn't come close to justifying the price more

If you're looking for perfection -- ASK FOR RENATA. I have been seeing Renata for years since I moved to the River North/Gold Coast area. From bikini waxing to the perfect flirty eyebrows-- she is the GURU of all waxers. Fantastic, professional, and makes you feel very comfortable. The icing on the cake, the entire staff at Joseph Michaels is extremely warm & welcoming-- the feeling is contageous! And, they are all truly gifted. I continue to be very impressed by my experience at JM, especially with Renata. more

This is the best massage in Chicago. In an ideal world I would see Danny every week. Never feel stress again! He provides the perfect atmosphere, relaxing, comfortable, a million miles from State Street just outside the door. Danny knows exactly how much pressure to use, where to use it, remembers "where it hurts" and cares how you are feeling. He is low key and professional and knows his business. This is 10 times better than the competition. Other favorites at Joseph Michael's are the manicures and pedicures by the best in the city - Maggie, and aesthetician Renata. My friends! more

One of the best massage therapists I've come across in years is Danny at Joseph Michael's. Whether it's a hot stone massage, deep tissue or simply a traditional Swedish, Danny has the right touch. He asks you the right questions at the beginning of your session and checks in with you periodically to ensure that the pressure is correct or the stones aren't too hot... but he is not a Chatty Cathy. I strongly recommend Danny... you won't be disappointed! more

I visited this spa/salon because it is across the street from where I recently moved to. I have had the best experiences there that I am definitely making this "my place!" I saw Layne for a simple trim (she was great, super friendly, and did exactly what I wanted her to); Bobbie for a massage (she was even better than my masseuse at EBC! She knew exactly how to give equal parts of relaxation, rejuvenation, and invigoration during the massage...I felt her really work out knots in my upper back); Neung for nails (I have gotten SO many compliments on my manicure, which is weird b/c I get one every week, but this is the first time people noticed)! Thanks, I'll definitely be going back very often :) more
