Very comfortable atmosphere for young child 4/19/2010

We wanted to try Tucci out for quite some time. We have a young child - 19 months and know it's important to know if a restaurant is ""kid friendly"" before attempting to dine there. We called ahead and spoke to Brian who assured us he would find the right spot for us to enjoy our meal and not feel out of place. We arrived and he quickly remembered our conversation and said he had the perfect table. We enjoyed the Monday night all night happy hour menu and were endlessly impressed with fantastic food, amazing service and friendly vibes all around. We will return in no time. This was a find and so nice for young families to feel comfortable! Thank you! We will be back soon. :-) Pros: Amazinfg food & friendly staff more

great happy hour 5/26/2009

I recommend the happy hour here. It isn't as busy and noisy as other places and the food is top notch! Try the pizza! Pros: yum more

Love the owner..! 3/8/2009

ENOUGH about the Owner!! Being an LO resident, I frequent Tucci often,. I have sat next to the owner, and have found him very gracious and generous. Recently I had a friend up from Newport Beach Ca., and the three of us shared a delightful evening and great conversation together at the bar.. To our surprise, he picked up the tab, which included two orders of the best scallops in town! Pros: scallops, service... Cons: need to work on the mood lighting.. more

Great Date Night!!! 8/29/2008

My boyfriend took me to Tucci tonight for dinner and it was awesome! We understand they've recovered their original chef, who made phenomenal food for us. We had such an amazing dinner, the crab bruschetta and caprese salad were both superb, our pasta entree was really tasty, and we were offered several tasters of wine before deciding which bottle to enjoy with our meal. Our server was attentive, yet still gave us room to relax and enjoy. Every course was tasty and left us wanting more. The real kicker for me was, we walked in 20 minutes before closing and didn't hear ONE WORD about the kitchen closing down, nor were we rushed to order or treated with any type of irritation for sitting down so close to closing. We weren't rushed through a thing, and we had a beautiful meal, and such a fun date night together. Thanks Tucci, we will definitely be back!! more

Good, but expensive. Since they stopped accepting the Passport unlimited dining, even more so 7/18/2008

We used to go often when we could use our passport card, but since they are no longer accepting this or other discounts, we can't justify the prices of the food. Wine list is over the top expensive and it was always too warm, so we would have our red wine placed on ice, even in the winter. Food is great, no argument there, but it's not the kind of place where middle-income folks would go on a regular basis. We'd be back in a heartbeat if they offered some dining discount or lowered their prices, but can't really justify it when there are so many great places with more affordable food, that is just as good! Other than than, food, atmosphere are great. more

Outstanding dinner!! 2/21/2008

Great service, excellent ambiance, incredible food! It was one of the best meals I've ever had..truly! I had the filetto arrosto. It was unbelievable to say the least. My friend had the same and she thought it was just as good as I did! The house salad was just ok but everything else was perfect! Loved it! more

Incredible Service, Great wine! 8/12/2007

I dined at Tucci last night and had one of the most enjoyable meals of my life. I was so impressed that I came home to check out reviews on City Search and was absolutely shocked to see the two previous write-ups. I had a totally different experience. As a former restaurant industry worker, I have indredibly high standards. I can appreciate good service and great food, and this is exactly what I found at Tucci. My server was friendly, conversational, and had an obvious appreciation and expertice for the rarer Italian wines Tucci offers. I was seated immediately, had a bottle of great wine before I could even open my dinner menu, and enjoyed a filet mignon that was delivered promptly and cooked perfectly. My wife had the halibut that was on their menu, not a special, and had a very different experience than the person who wrote before, it was not the least bit dry. We finished with a chocolate polenta cake with a scoop of the house-made gelatto and it was absolutely incredible. I would go back in a heartbeat. Pros: Great Service, Excellent wine Cons: The water, splurge on bottled. more

ok food, rude owner 6/5/2007

Unfortunately for Tucci, the owner is the reason why many of us from LO do not frequent his restaurant. He is seriously the most arogant person any of us have ever meant. He sits at the bar, eats his dinner and drinks his wine, and never looks or speaks to anyone. Pros: Nice bar Cons: Unhappy owner more

Great atmosphere, average food 3/25/2007

We really enjoyed the music and atmosphere at Tucci's but frankly, the food did not live up to expectations. Can't comment on all dishes but I ordered the special, which was halibut and it was overcooked, dry and a very small portion. On the other end of the large plate was an equally small portion of spinach. I don't mind small portions but the food better be exceptional and this was not. Our appetizer of bruschetta w/ crab was also a disappointment. It was prepared on one piece of bread which after being divied up, wasn't much for any one person and very salty. On the other hand, the latin guitar duo was wonderful and the choice of italian wines is exceptional. I would recommend going for drinks and listening to the music. Pros: Ambience, music Cons: Small portions, average to below average food more

good food, nice atmosphere 3/2/2007

LO doesn't have a lot of upscale restaurants so it's nice to have a place with a nice atmosphere and good food to go to without going downtown. When it first opened we weren't impressed, the food was cold and uneventful and the service was conceded and incompetent. HOWEVER, in the last few months it has been considerably better. The paperdelle pasta with braised lamb is my favorite. This is not a cheap, hole in the wall so expect to drop $50/p with drinks. Pros: good food & atmosphere Cons: expect to pay for what you get more

Consisently pleased 1/22/2007

Have dined here 2 or 3 times per year over the last several years. Never had a bad service experience and never had a bad or even average meal. In fact we have been so pleased with the food, that we consider the cuisine equal to the best, if not the best, available in the area. Pros: Great food. Cons: Sometimes noisy more

The worst customer service ever 12/29/2006

We took a simple question to the owner about a negative experience my wife had. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Some of the service more

Stellar, as always... 11/13/2006

Spectacular food, wonderful ambiance, and very good service. Still my favorite - I bring visiting friends and family here often. For those of you who wrote ""below average"" reviews (I wondered whether they were actually at Tucci), do give it another try, especially now the expansion is complete. There clearly is a reason it has such a substantial and loyal following. It's a gorgeous place with fabulous food. Pros: Inventive/ever-changing menu, luscious fresh offerings, luxurious seating, great wait staff Cons: At times, the wait staff appears to be over-extended. It would be nice to include a few more affordable wine selections. more

Not what I expected! 10/19/2006

Nice ambience, overpriced and dissapointing. more

Some stunning dishhes, but . . . 9/24/2006

One of their most basic second dishes, parpadelle, has been incredibly good twice - once with wild boar and once with braised lamb. Truly extraordinary. But the caesar salad is a few leaves with a bit of shaved cheese - I estimate their profit margin on this at about 90%. Ravioli was pretty bland twice. The wine list is far too expensive for the cuisine: there are only a few bottles under $45. And the place has moved from busy to frantic: way too much hectic bustle, emphasis on hectic. We did not encounter intentional rudeness or arrogance, but the place felt like a New York subway car at rush hour. Pros: An occasional truly stunning dish. Cons: Unpleasantly hectic; wine list is far too expensive. more

Still consistent. 9/4/2006

Pretty good food. The wine needs to be stored in cooling unit, as we always have to ask for our RED wine on ice. They do fish dishes with ease, some of the best scallops on this West Coast. More of a French flaire, not so much Italian, but prepared very well. Staff seems rushed and busy, but they try to take care of you. The open environment is loud, but appropriately so. Looking forward to the additional space. Great Wine List, mostly Italian. Still doing a great job with the meals after the 4 years of being on the map, keep it up. Pros: Downtown feel, but in the Burbs, cuisine Cons: crowded at times, but worth it more

Inflated sense of itself 6/2/2006

Some of the dishes here are just weird--like ""warm carpaccio,"" which is kind of like ""braised steak tartare."" The Caesar salad isn't a caesar at all--whole romaine leaves in an italian dresing with parmessan grated over it. Not a terrible experience, but hardly the high-end fare it fancies itself to be. more

Nice People-Bland Food 5/27/2006

Had never been before but decided to make the trip from portland. The food was bland, overcooked and not very exciting. The wine list was overpriced. The timming between courses was much to long. I had heard good things about this restaurant but my date and I were very dissapointed. That is with everything but the hospitality and the service. We were well taken care of by the waiter (Michael) and the elegent hostess/manager (Veronica). They made the meal somewhat palatable. Pros: Atmosphere, Service Cons: Food, Menu, Wine List more

Still a favorite! 5/8/2006

I had been to this restaurant in the spring and wanted to try it again. The experience I had in April was good, and I was just as pleased in October. The restaurant has recently expanded and the addition looks as it has always been a part of the original. The seating options are offered with variety now, and there is a fireplace in the new bar. There is a room in the new addition that looks like it would accomodate a private party. The lamb papparadelle was heaven. My date and I shared two appetizers, and two main courses, both excellent. Although we did fight over the last bite of the papparadelle. Still remains one of our favorites. Pros: comfy as can be atmosphere. Cons: busy on the weekends more
