Best

I recently attended a friend's rehersal dinner in their patio tent. The decorations were beautiful and the view of the golf course was amazing! Very impressed.

Worst

Within the past few months I have been to the Stockpot Broiler during evening hours on the weekend. Service was great even during the busier times. I started coming to the S...

Seafood Lovers, plan a date with Stockpot!! 11/22/2008

\r \r The decor definitely fits the underlying theme, Seafood, Seafood, and more Seafood! The dining rooms are very intimate and set a romantic mood. This will remain one of my favorite fine dining establishments for years to come.\r \r The food here is outstanding. Not once have I had my fish cooked wrong; White fish are perfectly prepared and not overdone, the salmon is perfectly cooked.\r \r The wait staff is friendly and attentive, wine list is HUGE.\r \r This is a great venue for a date or special occasion.\r \r more

I keep trying to like this place. 10/12/2008

The entrees are often wonderful, good enough that I'm ok with the steep pricing. But the dining room smells like cigarette smoke, and the reception staff can been snooty. For the most part, the servers are quite good. The location is convenient for me, and I keep wishing I to bring myself to be a regular.... more

Thank you Stockpot! 8/27/2008

This has been one of my favorite spots for several years. I usually go there for dinner, but the lunch menu is also good. Sometimes they even have live music and outdoor barbecues. more

Great food, very romantic 8/27/2008

The stockpot is one best kept secrets of Portland! \r \r We stumbled across it on accident during a visit and since moving here it has quickly become our favorite. Some people may find the location to be a little obscure, but once you get inside none of that matters. The staff is very helpful, the dining area is very romantic and the food is to die for! Pros: Great food, great service more

What a disappointment 8/20/2008

This used to be one of my favorite restaurants years ago. I don't know what happened, but last time we went there the food was absolutely terrible, all the way from appetizers, through main course to dessert. We were 6 people in the party so we got to try various things. Nothing was edible. Seafood was overcooked and steaks were of a very sub standard quality. One of the party ordered something from the menu that described the item as lobster. When the really bland piece of fish arrived, the explanation was that the fish was piached in lobster juice! What a rip-off! On top of that one in our party found sharp glass pieces in the salad and had to go to the emergency room with several cuts in the mouth. When the owner was contacted later there was no concern showed at all. And when the credit card bill was almost $200 not including any drinks, I was really steaming. I would never go back there again and in fact, I'll tell anybody who will listen not to eat here. Pros: Parking Cons: Food, service, value more

Awesome!!!! Hidden treasure... shhh don't tell anyone!! 6/11/2008

We live fairly close by and play golf here regularly. We decided to get drinks one night in the bar (vs the actual Stockpot Restaurant) after hitting golfballs one night. We were pleasantly surprised and have decided its our new favorite place. The service and drinks have always been excellent, but the food is outstanding. The guys always get the hamburger/cheeseburger and its come out perfectly cooked just the way they ask for it, every single time. The beef satay with asian coleslaw and onion rings with wasabi aioli are also great. The comment from the other reviewer about the golf clubs...well um last time I checked it was a golf course. I don't think this detracts from the great food or service. We haven't had a bad experience yet and we have been going about once a week. more

Nice but not Great! 5/14/2008

I chose to go to the restaurant based on its high mark for most romantic, which I found to be stretched. As my wife and I pulled into the parking area we immediately saw the golf bags pulled up to the front door from some guys enjoying the 19th hole. Hmmm strike 1! We walked in and were promptly seated; it was the middle up the week though. We quickly noticed that we were the youngest people in the place and it had a smell about it that reminded me of old lady perfume mixed with a stale casino. Strike 2! As we looked over the menu we were happy with the selections and the wine menu was very extensive which was also a perk. As our service began we started to see things unfold and the disappointment set in. The server was not familiar with the liquors available in the bar. Of course there was the standard "" I've only been here a few weeks"". When the food finally arrived it was not as impressive as the menu had led us to believe. The sauce on the veal tasted burnt and the seafood in the boulliabase was not absolutely fresh. The service was painfully slow and eventually we set our credit card on the table as a hint that we were ready to go. Strike 3, we're out of here. Overall, the wine list was comprehensive and the menu promissing, but this place needs and update. If they're aiming to please the retirement community then fine, but definately NOT in the top 10 for the most romantic spot . Pros: Wine List Cons: Everything else was Average or Lower more

Hidden Gem 1/1/2008

I feel that the Stockpot is one of the most underrated restaurants in Portland. I have never had a bad experience in the many years of dining here. The service is always friendly and excellent. The restaurant over looks the RedTail golf course. You can watch golfers play their approach shots into the 18th green. I like coming here for lunch during nice summer days and dining outside. Their lamb, prime rib and halibut dishes are all top notch. Pros: Fresh gourmet Northwest style cuisine more

The food is great....BUT 9/6/2007

The food is always awesome but they have a server working there that makes me not go back. I'm not sure if he is always under the influence of something or what but something is not right with him. It's bad enough that more than once I've chosen another restaurant over the Stockpot (even though it's where I really want to go) just so I don't run the risk of having him wait on me. more

This place is a total gem! 8/9/2007

Off the beaten path, but really worth it. My husband and I are regulars. GREAT food, and very efficient, friendly service. If you don't want to pay the $$ for dinner or don't have reservations, the non-smoking bar is a very pleasant alternative with the same nice view of the golf course that the main dining room has. The prime rib is covered with a sauce, but it's excellent. The lamb is to die for. We have never had a dish here that disappointed us. more

A true treasure..... 6/29/2007

I've been dining at the Stockpot for many years and have yet to find fault in this terrific eatery. The food is delicious, especially the apple stuffed brie, the prime rib, the lamb, the scalloped potatoes, and the creme brulee. Though the lighting is more dim than I prefer, the view is very nice and the service is excellent. The staff seems to go above and beyond to meet the customers' needs even for young adults, which is something I don't often come by as a young adult. If you're in the area I suggest eating here where you will find quality food and service without the ridiculously long wait like so many of the restaurants at the nearby washington square mall have. This restaraunt is wonderful for special occasions, my family and I have personally spent many birthdays, graduations, and anniversaries dining here! Pros: Friendly staff, great food, and immediate seating. Cons: Dim lighting, sometimes smoky atmosphere. more

excellent dinner 6/29/2007

must say i was suprised to see any negative comments as ive been coming to the stockpot for years and have found the staff to be very friendly and accomadating. just wanted to let the general public know that the razor clams i had this evening were excellent as was my apple salad. great wine list! great service..We will be back!!! more

Not worth it 6/27/2007

Went here with three other friends last Sunday. We were the first to be seated for the morning and while there were plenty of wait and hostess staff around and in full view, AND we were the only ones in the restaurant at the time, we seemed to be invisible. In fact, the couple that was seated ten minutes after us were served first. Waitress showed up only after she was called over and clearly was not happy about it. When the food finally showed up it was extremely inconsistent. I had the eggs benedict. One of the poached eggs was severly underdone - very runny white -and the other was severly OVERdone - hardboiled to say the least. This place was just not worth the frustration, hassle, attitude, and price tag. I would happily NOT recommend this as even a good dining experience. Pros: View of the golf course Cons: Wait staff with attitude, Cook needs more training on consistency more

Used to be exceptional 5/31/2007

Went to Stockpot last week and was dissapointed. Met up with 2 friends who had already ordered their food. My salad was decent, a bit overdressed. The server informed me the chef was having problems making the sauce to go with my fish, and also told us he had a few choice words to say about it. I do not want to hear this at a 5 star restaurant. It was obvious she had screwed up the order and blamed the chef. To make up for the mistake, she gave us free dessert. That of course was a nice gesture, but please next time own up to your mistake. Dont blame the chef, customers dont like to pay top prices for substandard service. Pros: Great view Cons: subpar service more

Happy Hour Heaven 4/24/2007

Although their formal dining room offers a much more lavish and delicious menu with more variety, we prefer to sit in the lounge area of the restaurant for their fabulous happy hour menu on weeknights. There is a wide range of items on the menu and you just can't beat the quality for the price any where else in town! Everything on the menu is delicious. The only complaint I can make is that sometimes the food can be inconsistent (ie, the cheese on the nachos was not completely melted the last time I was there). The $2.75 well drinks and micros are also a big incentive to avoid the fancy dining room and just relax and enjoy the good food and savings in the bar! The staff is always friendly and attentive. My friends and I will continue to go at least once every week! Pros: Great happy hour food and service! Best Lobster Bisque Ever! Cons: The quality of food can be inconsistent on occasion but only rarely. more

Best food and service in town. 3/9/2007

This restaurant has a wonderful staff and a great atmosphere. My wife and I like to enjoy a good meal as often as possible and the Stockpot is always on top of the game. The service is warm and freindly with all the class of a gourmet restaurant. I have intertained clients on occassion and have found the steaks to be of the highest quality and prepared to perfection. My wife loves the seafood side of the menu where the selection is always alluring. All and all I would recommend the STOCKPOT BROILER to anyone. Check it out for yourself, you'll see. Pros: great food and service Cons: no valet more

It used to be a 10, now it is maybe a six 2/26/2007

The service is still excellent, and perhaps the best part of the place.\r \r The steaks are overcooked and tough. The fish is lacking in taste and dry. The lamb though still good, isn't quite what it was a year or two ago.\r \r Their salads are still very good. Their Bisque and onion soup are still some of the best in town, but the desserts are no longer as good as they once were.\r \r What a shame. They were on top of the list just a year or two ago, and now are very close to mediocre. Pros: Excellent service, soups and salads Cons: steaks, and desserts more

Great Food 12/21/2006

We recently had our company Christmas Party here. They have the best prime rib that I have ever tasted. We will be back. more

Take stock . . . 11/3/2006

The Stockpot Broiler is a traditional restaurant, with nice portions and pricing to be expected for a steak-house. The appetizer menu was a good read, and worth trying at least one. We had the Apple / Gorgonzola stuffed brie wrap which was presented well, also tasted good. Although the menu had a wilted spinach salad it was unavailable at the time we went (remember when spinach was pulled off the shevles), so we opted for the classic Ceaser which worked at second choice. My order of New York steak was delicious -- 2nd time round. Since I like my meat medium well, the steak wasn't cooked to order, it was rare. And this was a first for me, since I've never been one to send anything back. It took a long time to get our order as well. Not sure why. The waitress also came back to our table to ask what we had ordered, since she said that she forgot. She also forgot to bring us a requested beverage and we had to remind her during our meal. For these prices, the service should have been much better. Pros: Well presented meals that taste good Cons: Forgetful waitress more

on the golf course 11/1/2006

If you're golfing or already here for some reason, then by all means stop in for some grub. Otherwise, this eatery is not worth the trip. Definitely not better than the chains close to Washington Square. For a town full of authentic eateries, this country-club style restaurant doesn't impress. Cons: Dimly lit more
