This is the best Steakhouse in the Hollywood area, be ready to mingle with the important people too.

Worst

I have been hearing about this place forever! My boyfriend & I finally tried it. I think everything about it was over rated. The place is ok looking. the service was slow. th...

SUPER D......... 4/20/2008

YEAH its a scene... but the food is out of control!!! everything i had was amazing! the beet salad and the scallops are a must have. definitely get steak when you order an entree.. the must have steak sauce is the BOLD STK sauce ... my friend that ordered the tuna entree liked it but i didn't love it too much after having my amazing steak. the bartender tim is a love and the manager celeste is so kind. the only flaw was the manager lyle.. he walked around like he was so important and better than everyone with his stupid walkie talkie .. what a mess! the busboys and runners were very attentive and knew about the food and nothing was auctioned off. most of the guest were hip and seemed to be acting normal aside from the one table near us that was acting like they had never left their home before. but over all everything was SUPER DELICIOUS! thank you STK for all your effort. more

You get what you pay for minus the service... 4/18/2008

I went there with a few friends for dinner on a weeknight and was quite excited about checking the place out. The place was a mob scene, emphasis on the word ""scene"". Typical hollywood douche crowd. The managers run around with pretentious ear pieces and were quite rude. Normally I'd expect the staff to give the customer the right-of-way but a manager and I came face to face while I was walking back to my table from the restroom and he walked right in front of me bumping me without saying excuse me or even looking back... but I digress. The waiter knew the menu well but had a bit of an attitude, at times making us feel like adults who order off the kids menu at Denny's. I had the Hearts of Romaine w/ Lemon Parmasean dressing, which was basically a glorified Caesar but I enjoyed it. The side dishes were small for the price (mac and cheese, asparagus & fries were the best) and I had the bone-in filet which was excellent. Overall I was disappointed because I had anticipated the experience all week and was sorta let down. Would I ever go back? No. Ruth's Chris is still my #1. Pros: Good steak, sides Cons: small portions for the price, pretentious staff, cheezy crowd more

Swanky Place 4/8/2008

Went here with some girlfriends. Reservations right on time! Attentive (and very attractive) waitstaff. Bread in general may be overlooked by many, but I love a great plate of bread to start off the meal and theirs was perfect. Red Wine by the glass was good for me, but I'm not too picky in that area. The Main Courses were DIVINE. Delicious Steaks, and for those of you who prefer chicken, their Roasted 1/2 chicken was perfect. Don't miss the desert! Donuts and Reese's dish are great. To top off the night.... our Bill didn't set us back a month's rent. \r \r I'll be back soon!\r Pros: Atmosphere, Waitstaff, Value, Celeb Spotting more

TMZ crowd - Poor service 3/24/2008

The crowd is what you would expect on La Cienaga. Older guys, young ladies that i expect are inspiring hollywood types. If that intrigues you then go for that and a drink. The service is aweful, we got there an hour before our reservation had some drinks and they were still 30 minutes late to seat us. The steak was OK, the place looks good but not worth the service attitude. You will find the attitude from the parking attendant to the bus boy to the receptionist. Everyone acts like you are doing them a favor. Its annoying. more

Solid food, very heavy on the ""scene"" 3/19/2008

Short and sweet; good steak and sides, quality service but hope you don't get seated in the ""sidecar"" section next to the bar. The place to be is in the large, open area; why even bother with the dark side space? This will be the ""in spot"" for a few months and then the crash will come. Such is the restaurant biz in LA. Pros: Steak, service Cons: Side eating area more

Best Steak I Have Ever Eaten 3/17/2008

First off my boyfriend and I are not huge meat eaters at all. In fact we tend to frequent a lot of vegetarian establishements so when we eat meat, we eat good meat. Anyway, he took me here for my 22nd birthday on Saturday and it could not have been a better choice. The service is impeccable, the atmosphere is chic and comfortable at the same time, and the food is to die for. He chose this restaurant on the basis that it was created by the One group, because we have gone to One Sunset and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Dont be fooled by its sister restaurant though, which consists of ""share plates"" that you could probably eat 8 of between two people. We definitely over ordered, but I didnt mind steak and eggs for breakfast the next morning. We started off with the Foie Gras French Toast, which was delicious. Then I ordered a skirt steak and my boyfriend ordered the porter house, both perfectly tender. The sides that we chose were the mixed mushrooms, mac & cheese, and the parmesan truffle fries. I have to say that the mixed mushrooms were the best, and the mac and cheese was ten times better the next day. We both had the bold STK sauce which has a licorice hint to it that is really good. I also had an amazing glass of wine, the Zinfandel Francis Ford Coppola ""Directors Cut"", a perfect light glass of wine. Dont forget to save some room for the desserts as the strawberry shortcake is nothing short of perfection and the sorbets were refreshing. Overall an amazing experience, obviously not inexpensive, but well worth it. Between the two of us, and a surplus of food, the dinner was around $200 plus our amazing waitresses $50 tip. Pros: amazing food, wine, ambiance, waitstaff......can i say more more

AVERAGE FOOD, EXCELLENT SERVICE, RIDING ON LOTS OF HYPE!! 3/14/2008

My wife and I were seeing Wicked at 8 p.m. We wanted at 6 p.m. reservation on a recent Saturday. I called the same day and was told by the hostess that were booked and had over 400 reservations this night. I called again asking for a 5:30 p.m. reservation. Still booked. I phoned a 3rd time, dropped a name and was given a 5:30 p.m. reservation. The hostess ""squeezed me in."" \r \r We arrive at 5:30 p.m. to find the valet parking attendants smoking. What a wonderful first impression. We walk in to a totally empty restaurant, after all, it's 5:30 p.m. and they just opened. We are seated at a nice table for 2. The room is cool. The server comes right over. She was very nice. She knew the menu. Around 6 p.m. we ordered. \r \r The medium steak was rare to medium rare at best and sent back. My wife's fish was too salty to enjoy. The creamed spinch was full of salt. The roasted potatoes were the highlight of the evening! The steak was good, but nothing I would come back for. The dessert menu was very limited. \r \r We departed at 7:20 p.m. and guess what... the restaurant that was fully booked and the hostess was doing us a favor to ""squeeze us in"" at 5:30 p.m. - - there were only 6 tables sat when we left at 7:20 p.m. What a joke. Another restaurant trying to hype themselves.\r \r It's so silly - - I wonder why restaurants like this don't fill themselves at 6 p.m. but prefer to lie, tell people they are fully booked, only to look foolish to those who see that clearly they weren't.\r \r I don't think there was any reason to return. Pros: Attentive Service Cons: Food is salty, they hype that they are booked when at 7:20 p.m. only 6 tables are sat on a Saturday, valet parking smoking when you arrive is your first impression more

BLT, CUT & MASTRO'S - MOVE OVER!!! 3/12/2008

I'm part of a guys weekly steakhouse group. Yes, there are 10-12 of us that frequent the steakhouses-Cut, Mastros and we just went to the opening part of BLT. Although the food seems to be right on at BLT it was filled with geriatrics! There was zero vibe, zero good-looking women and zero energy (and yes, this was supposed to be their opening party!). There was not one celebrity (this is LA, you have to have a couple). STK is the total package - great food, great people, great atmosphere and great vibe! It's tough to find a steakhouse that isn't stuffy and they did it. If you're going to go out for a good meal, why not have the vibe to go along with it? Their filet mignon - cooked to perfection. Great job to the team at STK! Pros: WHOLE PACKAGE - MOVE OVER CUT, MASTRO'S & BLT (NEW BUT GERIATRIC CROWD) Cons: NONE IN ALL HONESTY! more

A CELEBRITY MAGNET WITH MAGNIFICANT FOOD FOR THE OLDER & YOUNGER GENERATIONS! 3/12/2008

The group for NY did it right! STK is going to be around for a long time if they are able to maintain this amazing food. The atmosphere is classy and cool - not too loud, not too soft - a little rock n' roll vibe. I sat between a table of super models to my right and my grandparents to my left yet it worked as though everyone belonged. My steak was cooked to perfection. My girlfriends had to be sent back to be cooked for a minute longer but it didn't ruin our experience at all. When it returned minutes later, she said it was better than her steak the week prior at Cut. John Mayer (yes, the singer) was sitting two tables over with a group of guys. Even though this place was a crazy mix of older, younger, hipsters and celebs it was as though no one cared. Everyone just had a great meal with great service in a very beautiful space. Make your reservations though in advance. On my way out I tried to make a reservation for the following weekend and they had nothing available. Pros: YOUNG & OLD MESH PERFECTLY, BEST STEAKS IN TOWN Cons: CAN'T GET A RESERVATION ON WEEKENDS UNLESS YOU CALL WAY IN ADVANCE more

VICTORIA BECKHAM, EVA LONGORIA & KATE BECKINSALE DINING TOGETHER!!! 3/12/2008

I consider myself to be a grounded individual who does not get ""star struck"". So, I did at STK last week. I was there Friday night and sitting two tables away was Victoria Beckham, Eva Longoria and Kate Beckinsale! It was a little distracting but I managed to pull myself back to the plate. The skirt steak was one of the best I've ever had. The ambience was sensual and gorgeous (having 3 of America's coolest celebs doesn't hurt either)! The apps were very unique (shrimp rice krispies - yummy), the drinks fun and desserts mouthwatering (peanut butter cup). Do yourself a favor and make a reservation - this place is here to stay! Pros: EVERYTHING - CELEB SIGHTINGS! Cons: TRYING TO STAY FOCUSED WITH SO MUCH GOING ON AROUND YOU! more

looking forward to my next visit 3/12/2008

there was definitely a wait before we were sat, but i can understand it because it's the hottest place in la and it was packed. i have to say that the food was amazing. the restaurant is beautiful. i'll try to remeber next time to request to be seated in the bistro but the dining room wasn't bad at all. we ordered the scallops, so delicious. the filet, which melted in your mouth and the very yummy sweet corn pudding. the best corn pudding i've ever had. my server was not bad at all. he recommended the scallops and we were happy with that. Pros: food, people watching, amazing ambience more

Classical! 3/11/2008

Amazing! Chef Greenwood's take on the STK menu is better than imagined. The steak melts in your mouth, the fries are unbelievable, and everything the server recommended was spot-on. Oh- and the service was top notch- not 'Hollywood' at all. more

A BLAST!! 3/11/2008

I was little concerned going here after reading some of the reviews but I personally had a blast!! We only waited about 15 minutes for our table and spent that time wisely at the bar. The bartender was cool and even though the place was crazy busy he was pretty on top of his game. When we got our table we weren't seated in the main part of the restaurant which was a little disappointing. We got sat in the side dining room they have but it was still really cool. The room was purple and black with some really awesome lighting fixtures. Our waiter was Tyler and he was great. He didn't come across as pretentious or condescending like you can find sometimes at these hotspots. He recommended we have the Shrimp Crispies which were amazing and the scallops which were also great. The sauce on the scallops was mind blowing, seriously. For our entrees I got a steak which was literally the best steak I've had in like 5 years and my date got the snapper which I thought might be a bad idea at a steakhouse. Our waiter said it was a great choice for someone not in the mood for steak and he was right!! The sauce on this fish was so good I could have eaten my dates entire dish. We skipped dessert because we were so full but I saw the people next to us eating some kind of chocolate peanut butter thing that looked amazing! So overall, I don't have one thing to complain about which is very rare in this town! Pros: Service, FOOD!! more

MY NEW FAVORITE STEAKHOUSE 3/11/2008

I am considered the ""older generation"". I have been living in Beverly Hills for over 40 years and have seen many places come and go. I have tried all of the new steakhouses - Cut, Mastro's, etc. This is by far the best to date. It was a beautiful mix of the older and younger generations. The steaks were better than Cut's (which I had the night prior). The sides were interesting - roasted califlauer was my favorite. As a wife to a high powered attorney here in LA, I would recommend this place for a fun night out (younger generation) or a power dinner (my generation). Either way, I believe STK will be around for many years to come. I hope that true foodies like myself will appreciate the culinary experience and not be blinded by the ultr luxurious design. This is the new generation in steakhouses. I am a believer that they no longer must be stuffy in order to have great steaks. I not only will go again, I have already booked 2 reservations. Congratulations to the team who made this place into what I believe will be one of LA's biggest overnight successes! Pros: Steaks, Ambience, Foodies Get Ready! Cons: Nothing to Mention more

Trendy AND Enjoyable 3/11/2008

I am always a little wary of LA celebrity hot spots. They usually have ok food and barely passable service (Koi anyone?). NOT the case at STK. The food was great and unpretentious, there is something for everyone on the menu. Our server was awesome, making sure we had lots of attention even though i noticed her waiting on a couple A list celebrities at the table next to us. (no, i wont tell you who, but it was really cool sitting next to these people!) When you go, make sure to have the arugula salad and the truffle fries (to die for!). My only complaint is desserts took a really long time, but we were having a good time so it wasn't too bad. I wish we had passed on dessert and just gone to the bar and had another drink and danced to the music (they had a DJ!) Be prepared to spend a little money and have lots of fun at STK! more

patience is a virtue 3/10/2008

I am disgusted by the impatience of this town! Nobody can wait for anything! I understand that you made reservations for a certain time but calm down! I had a reservation for 7:45 and did not get sat until almost 9:00. However, I enjoyed a drink at the bar and the company of my friends. What does everyone expect from a brand new restaurant in Los Angeles? Its the hottest spot around right now and everything in L.A. is slow and flaky anyhow! The food, serive and decor made up for any sort of wait. Everything was delicious. As an avid steak eater I give their steaks my highest endorsement. When it comes down to it, people should focus on the food above all else, the food is second to none. Creative menu! The experience is a huge part of dining out, obviously, and I do not see how anyone could have had such a horrible experience. Get over yourselves! As far a new, hip restaurants in this town go, this one has the makings of longevity. It isnt one of those ones that will be over before you know it. Their staff seemed more particular and serious. And the menu speaks for itself! When the food is that good, you're gonna last. more

STK is great! 3/10/2008

i have heard so much about STK and finally got an opportunity to dine there last week. i had such an amazing time!!!! the food was phenomenal, as was the ambiance. i had so much fun. i enjoyed everything from the music to the impeccable service. our server was kind, efficient and made amazing reccomendations. we had the shrimp rice crispies, which are to die for. and of course steaks!! the server recommended a crab tooping with blue butter sauce for our steak and i loved every bite of it. i did not want it to end. long story short, everything was great and definitely save room for dessert because the banana bread pudding is great. more

Great food and an amazing space 3/10/2008

I rarely eat steak in Los Angeles as I have been disappointed time and again. However, I must say that my steak at STK was one of the best that I have ever had. Their sides were fantastic (the truffle fries!!!) and I was surprised at how quality the tuna Sashmi was too. The place and the peope in it were beautiful, but most importantly, I finally had a good steak in LA. more

Great food but... 2/29/2008

This is my first review on this site. I have read other reviews about this restaurant and I agree with some. First, I liked the decor, but I honestly hated the crowd. Being an LA native, I should be used to this scene, but its not the restaurants fault. Its just the area. People there are just trying to get discovered, not really a deal breaker. Second, we had an 8:15 reservation and weren't sat until 9:20 or so! Ouch!! That was not cool. Watching B list reality TV actors get sat before us was a bit annoying. Again, frustrating but oh well. Next, the food. We had a wonderful server that had great recommendations. We started with the Diver scallops and they were wonderful. Then we had the filet, mac and cheese and creamy spinach!! All were delicious! Portions were generous as well. Overall, it was enjoyable. I would go back but maybe earlier in the week and not on a busy Thursday night. Pros: Great food and attentive server! Cons: Cheesy LA crowd, waited over an hour for our reservation. more

red snapper 2/23/2008

manager kevin was very professional. food was good. service was a little slow but it was also the night before the official opening. definietly a do over to give another chance. Pros: management Cons: service more
