Love this place! I took my Dad for his 4/5/2012

Love this place! I took my Dad for his 77th birthday because I thought he'd love their Ramos Fizz and their food. The staff couldn't have been better, more accommodating, or helpful. They did a dessert with candles and made sure I got the bill. When I asked for someplace quiet (because I'm usually there for lunch or maybe never noticed the volume before) the hostess was great about it and gave us the relatively quietest table they had. At most any other restaurant, I would have gotten an eye roll and attitude, but the people there are always awesome. The food is great and they have the best drinks, especially the egg cream fizz with rum (but you have to ask for it as they took it off the menu). Excellent experience! more

My absolute favorite place to eat in 3/7/2012

My absolute favorite place to eat in Denver! I love the wide variety on the menu and the service is always friendly!!! Do be prepared to wait on a Friday or Saturday night, this is a well known hotspot. more

Go elsewhere! 4/26/2011

The wife I tried Steuben's after seeing it on Dinners, Drive-ins and Dives. The service was good. The French Onion soup was good. the rest of the food while not bad was not good. I had the shrimp por boy (a better sandwich can be had at Moe's). It came with a pickle, the waiter told me they make their own. Well this pickle was crunchy, and wet, but it need to spend some time with vinegar, salt, dill and garlic. The sandwich was overprice for what was served.\r And then the ice tea. Restaurant owners take a hint, those of us that like tea can taste the difference between brewed on the premise, and the swill that the soft drink company will sell you.\r Overall, I like the service, the food is more than enough that I will never return, and I now believe that Guy's opinion is for sale to the top bidder.\r more

Good food! 4/1/2011

Good place to grab a bite, a bit to busy at times but I guess that's because they have good food! more

Good at ignoring customers 3/29/2011

They were not busy when I arrived before 11:30. After being seated it was at least 12 minutes before I had to get up and ask if there was a server who worked my area. Reluctanly some other employee then took my order. Didn't hear any specials as I later heard from other servers. Ordered the lobster roll which arrived very quickly. It looked really small but was actually quite a bit to eat. \r \r No excuse for not waiting on a customer when you have walked by 5-6 times and not even glanced that way. I'm afraid I am one and done at this place. Was really looking forward to going there. If this happened at my business, someone would get a pretty good chewing. more

WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY-MOSTLY MONEY 3/26/2011

I usually don't do this sort of thing, but in this case, I feel I must let my fellow Denver diners know just how saddened I was at a recent lunch. The food (at best) is AVERAGE, and the service is again, at best, AVERAGE. I was less than impressed with the portion sizes, and when I asked my waiter about it, I was told ""that's the way it is"". The lobster roll was soggy and it tasted fishy, Which means to me that it was old. A couple of sandwich's and a couple of drinks for lunch should not cost close to $70.00. This is Denver, not New York City. Would never go back, and I hope a lot of people read this review. more

good food. overpriced 2/12/2011

I live in the neighborhood so I go to steuben's quite a bit. I usually prefer to go for happy hour for cheap sliders and beers. Big complaint is that they only have beer cans and bottles, nothing on tap. The sliders are the best deal there tho. Pulled pork and Brisket sliders for $1 each. When I go during non-happy hour I usually stick to the cheesesteak. It's a good size portion and not over priced. I tried the shrimp po boy which was good but the size was an absolute joke. $9 for a sandwich I could eat in 3 bites. No descriptions on menu which is annoying and fries are not included. Look to spend $15-$20 on a small sandwich, fries, and tip. more

Great Brunch, But Things Can Improve 9/29/2010

I'm not going to disagree with most of the reviews; this is an excellent place for the most part. But along with my praise, I have a couple of quibbles. Steuben's has one of the best Brunches in town, so why not include at least a limited breakfast menu for the rest of the week? Denver is a breakfast kind of town and there are lots of places that serve Breakfast every day, all day. Steuben's should think about it. I've seen Steuben's on a couple of 'Best Burger' lists for Denver; in my opinion it isn't. It is a good sized burger with excellent meat, but they slather it with some sort of Mickey D's 'secret sauce' that turns it into goo before you are done. If I wanted all that on the burger I'd order it. My suggestion is to make it a side. The fried chicken is excellent, but, another quibble; one way I test a restaurant is to see how they handle special requests. I do not like white meat and routinely order all dark meat. Steuben's won't even consider it; they have a set way (drumstick, wing, thigh, breast) and that is that. It is very good even but come on! even Popeye's and KFC let you order all dark meat. But it comes with great mashed potatoes and gravy (the gravy is in a side dish and it already has a 'skin' on it, but it's still super) and one of the best biscuits you'll find in town. I'll keep going back, but I wish they'd fix a few things. Service, ambiance, price, are all excellent and overall the food is outstanding. Edit Remove more

bad service and declining menu 3/18/2010

Once upon a time, Steuben's had great vegetarian and vegan menus. They dropped those over a year ago and have had only one decent vegetarian dish since then -- the vegetarian chili relleno. Non-vegetarians seem to like Steuben's food, but having only one solitary vegetarian dish can be pretty monotonous.\r \r Their service is usually average to below average, but can dip down to awful. Yesterday, I ordered my vegetarian chili relleno the same time that my friends ordered their various dishes. The server brought out their dishes and said mine would be right out. The server didn't bring out anything for me until my friends were finishing up their meals, and he had the wrong dish! Some chicken thing. Worse, he insisted that I had actually ordered the chicken thing and didn't back down until my friends all also told him he was wrong. Then he tried to talk me into accepting the chicken thing instead of getting the right dish. Pros: location Cons: bad service, dropped veggie menu more

Martini in a Pudding Cup 1/22/2010

$36 for top shelf - 3 drinks..huge let-down. Less than a sincere greeting by the host who said it would be ok to drink at a table, just don't hang out for hours...""the place gets busy"". We took his suggestion and bolted to more welcoming establishments on 17th. \r \r The ""pudding cup"" martini was aptly named by another in the party...wish I could take credit for that one. Pros: On 17th Retro Appeal Cons: Read the headline more

Steubens Cayenne Etouffee 11/9/2009

The word “cayenne” can often signal intense heat, but in this case, the spice was just right, and the etouffee excellent. Everything from the shrimp to the sausage to the chunks of tomato in the broth were flavorful. Steubens is most often known for their amazing lobster roll, and I would still say it is the best thing on that menu, but this should not be overlooked, particularly on a cold day. Disapointed 10/20/2009

I was told this was the best place to go for a late night out. I got the monty cristo and fries The monty was small and the fries should have been cooked a little while longer. I was shocked when the bill came. I guess thats the price you pay for a trendy place. Pros: Waitress was nice Cons: High prices more

Average food high priced 10/7/2009

\r Went for the first time today. Reviews were very good so I gave it a shot. After looking over the menu decided on a hot dog. What can you expect from a dog right? Anyways if you want to follow the crowd and blow some cash this is your place. Pros: Atmosphere Cons: overpriced menu more

Yummy AND Groovy 3/28/2009

Steuben's is a great brunch spot for all the right reasons - a diverse selection of interesting brunch choices, great coffee, friendly service, and a buzzy, bright atmosphere. I love that the restaurant decor feels so hip and cool and mod, but so many of the people who roll in for brunch (including me) look like they just fell out of bed after a really late night. It's like having a late breakfast in your really cool friend's really cool house. I have had pancakes (great) and a bagel with smoked salmon and cream cheese (great great). The food is all really fresh, very tasty, best ingredients, and brought straight to your table when ready. They use high quality breads, have good cappucino and lattes, and you can tell they really care about the quality of the food they put out. Haven't been here for dinner yet but will look forward to going. The atmosphere is so nice and relaxed. Pros: Super breakfast selection Cons: Can't think of any more

Delicious Food... 11/1/2008

Comfort food at a comfortable price in comfortable seats, with comfortable servers in comfortable clothes who are comfortable with their straightness .\r The portions are generous (except for the salads - let's make it a MEAL, kids), and I'm partial to the meatleaf. I was also partial to the bbq beef brisket - so It was perfect.\r \r Try the baked meatballs, try the shrimp & grits, try the greek salad, try the burger, try the skirt steak.I would recommend to anyone or everyone. more

Great Meatloaf! Awesome employees. 9/19/2008

I was in Steubens for the first time last Tuesday night and absolutely loved it! The bartender (Courtney, I think?) suggested the meatloaf special and it was really good. My husband got the trout which was also amazing. The atmosphere was great and everyone that worked there seemed really nice. Parking was a little hard to find but it wasn't that big of a deal. I can't wait to go back! Pros: Great drink list, atmosphere, nice hostess and bartenders Cons: Parking more
